London to Paris via Avenue Verte - Call For Interest
A call for interest in this once in a lifetime classic ride from London to Paris. Please put your name down if you really have a **serious** interest in doing this ride. No time wasters please as life is too short!
This is a four day ride of approx 250 miles from the London Eye to the Eiffel Tour in Paris. The route follows the Avenue Vert using country lanes and traffic free cycling paths. The first day is Monday and our route takes us from London to Newhaven where we take the overnight ferry to Dieppe at a cost of around £40. From Dieppe we have the choice of two routes the longest is around 150 miles so we will plan accommodation en-route for the Tuesday and Wednesday nights arriving in Paris on Thursday afternoon. We shall stay overnight in Paris on the Thursday picking up bike bags from the hotel as we cannot transport fully assembled bikes on Eurostar. We plan to catch an afternoon train back to London arriving early evening, depending on the train this should cost around £65. Accommodation costs will be around £200. In addition please ensure that you have travel insurance that will cover you for accidents and any serious existing medical conditions. Unless you can provide evidence of cover we cannot take you on this ride. Normal holiday insurance may not cover you so you will need to go to a medical cover provider such as Staysure. This company does cover existing conditions including heart and stroke but it will cost you £2-300 for a single trip.

How Your Past Experiences Can Negatively Affect You
Description: Join us for an enlightening lecture that delves into the intricate web of the past and its potential to cast a long shadow over our present lives. In this thought-provoking session, we will explore the profound ways in which the past can negatively impact our well-being, choices, and personal growth.
Throughout history, human lives have been shaped by a multitude of experiences, both positive and negative. These experiences accumulate, leaving imprints on our memories and shaping our beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors. While the past holds valuable lessons and cherished memories, it can also harbor unresolved conflicts, traumas, and limitations that subtly influence our present reality.
During this lecture, we will navigate the labyrinth of psychological and emotional baggage that may accumulate over time, inhibiting our personal development and impeding our ability to lead fulfilling lives. By examining the effects of the past on various aspects of our existence, we will gain a deeper understanding of how it can manifest in detrimental ways.
Through engaging discussions, case studies, and real-life examples, we will explore the following topics:
1. The Power of Unresolved Trauma: We will delve into the profound impact of unresolved traumatic experiences and how they can subtly shape our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. By shedding light on the intricate mechanisms behind these effects, we can begin to dismantle their hold on our lives.
2. Inherited Baggage: Examining the intergenerational transmission of pain, beliefs, and patterns of behavior, we will explore how our ancestors' experiences can unconsciously influence our lives. By recognizing and addressing this inherited baggage, we can break free from destructive cycles and chart our own path.
3. Limiting Beliefs and Self-Sabotage: Uncovering the deeply ingrained beliefs and narratives that stem from past experiences, we will explore how they can become self-fulfilling prophecies, stifling our potential and sabotaging our aspirations. By challenging these beliefs, we can reclaim our personal power and reshape our narratives.
4. Breaking Free: Strategies for Healing and Transformation: This segment will offer practical tools and techniques for healing past wounds, releasing emotional burdens, and cultivating resilience. We will explore approaches such as therapy, mindfulness, self-reflection, and forgiveness to facilitate the process of letting go and embracing personal growth.
By the end of this lecture, attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the profound influence the past can exert on their lives and how to break free from its negative impact. Armed with newfound knowledge and practical insights, they will be empowered to embark on a transformative journey towards self-discovery, healing, and the creation of a brighter future.
Note: This lecture is open to all individuals seeking personal growth and a deeper understanding of the psychological and emotional factors that shape their lives. No prior knowledge or experience is required, only an open mind and a willingness to explore the depths of the past.

Edgware Road Picture Hunt
**Meet at Edgware Rd tube, CIRCLE line.**
This event is Edgware Road South.
How are your observation and detection skills? Are you up for a fun challenge?
This is another of our many outside Picture Hunts this year. If any issues with weather, we’ll switch to our 50-50 Trivia in the nearby Wetherspoon Sir Alexander Fleming, so turn up as something will be on regardless.
If you’re new to Picture Hunts, check the previous weeks for winners and clue sheets.
This time, the event will be centred around different buildings, shops and features on one side of Edgware Rd, Paddington, so there’s no crossing of busy roads.
Please aim to turn up for 1:00-1:30 when teams are being arranged. The Hunt starts at 1:30. You're losing search time if you're late! Bring a pen please.
As usual, portions of the road are split up into four areas where teams search for the locations of cropped photographed items in the street, buildings or shop windows, and then record where they found them.
Picture Hunts are a great new way to get up to speed with slices of London history while sleuthing around the area.
Everyone is presented with twenty partial photos of objects around an area. Your team mission is to find them. Some well known, some well unknown!
This makes Picture Hunts more interesting and challenging, bringing out the best of your teams detecting skills.
You will also have a map of the area. It will be sub-divided into four sections, P, Q, R, S. Each photo will come from one of these.
Four players max per team, but the lower number teams get a point per player start from the biggest team.
For example, four teams of one, two, three and four. Four player team, no advantage, (the biggest and theoretically the more knowledge between them, except it doesn't always work like that). Three player team, one point start. Two player team, two point start. One player team, three point start.
Scores are always close and around the 15-20 points mark. How many players do you want in your team? There's a dilemma!
The clipboard holder enters one of the letters to note its area location. Dead simple, right? 90 minutes to do the hunt.
We have the usual prizes of chocolate, including some great new varieties.
There is also an equal prize for the funniest team name. Names win prizes too! So there’s everything to play for.
We mark up at the quiz finish point. The Wetherspoon Sir Alexander Fleming.
Hunts are good fun and the proven experience so far is that members get to know each other better after working in teams as you all have to communicate. Great icebreakers.
This is what Meetup is all about. Come and join us.
**There is a £7 cash/card charge for this event. Pay on the day.**
Contact number is 07422334411 if your transport is delayed.

The fitness and health benefits of Nordic Walking are significantly greater than regular walking, trekking or even jogging, with scientific research from Europe and the USA proving that Nordic Walking:
Activates 90% of the body's muscles
Burns up to 46% more calories than regular walking
Increases aerobic effect by up to 25% compared to regular walking
Decreases load and strain on the lower body
Tones upper arms, shoulders and back muscles
Improves lateral mobility of the spine
Develops core stability and strength
Promotes an upright posture
These benefits are achieved through the use of specially designed poles and a properly learned and performed Nordic Walking technique, whereby the poles are used as a resistance tool to engage the upper body. The result is a low impact, high results, total body exercise.
As a low impact walking exercise, Nordic Walking is something that can be done and enjoyed individually or as a group activity, anywhere a person can normally walk.

How to Take Control of YOUR Mental Health
It’s time to take control of your mental health. How do you get rid of stress, anxiety and uncertainty? These emotions are buried deep in your reactive mind.
Find out what the reactive mind is, and in the process find yourself.
Here is the secret of being positive and free:
Thinking positively is not enough.
You also have to get rid of the negative thinking.
Your mind is like a garden.
You can plant many beautiful flowers in it, but if you don't get rid of the weeds when you plant your flowers, the weeds will soon take over the whole garden.
A positive thought is like a flower in your mental garden, and a negative thought is like a weed.
You cannot expect to have a positive mindset if you continue to have negative thoughts dwelling and growing there.
So, how do you get rid of the negative thoughts? That's what this Meetup is all about. Attend this local meeting and find out!
The Meetup event will be led by a consultant who had helped many people live happier in life.
Be sure to click on the red "Attend" button below to come to this local event. We look forward to seeing you there.
This group is created by the Dianetics & Scientology life improvement center.
