Southbank Vinyl
We're now meeting each month at the Bear in Camberwell, where great food and drink options are available, and we can get some time on their decks. Come along with a bunch of vinyl you'd like to play and share with us.
Think farewells, breakups, departures, endings and moving on. From tear-stained torch songs to bittersweet bangers. Maybe it’s Don McLean driving the Chevy to the levee, John Denver leaving on a jet plane or Fleetwood Mac going their own way, pack those records that capture the feeling of leaving something behind, grab a drink and join us for a farewell.
Grab a drink, enjoy some records. And don't forget to RSVP!

FULL - Electric Shuffle: Interactive Shuffleboard | London 20s and 30s
**We don’t do boring Wednesdays... and so on 20th May, to spice up your midweek, we’ve lined up another of London's best activities.**
Yep that's right - we'll be heading to one of the most popular activity bars in the city, **Electric Shuffle** in Kings Cross.
To kick off the night, we've booked out a space beforehand where you can have some social drinks, meet people, and connect with your fellow 20s and 30s ahead of the main event.
If you've never been to Electric Shuffle before, they've reimagined the classic pub game of shuffleboard and brought it into the 21st century with cutting edge vision technology and automatic scoring.
The technology adds a whole new dimension to the game, with a range of fast, competitive multi-player modes designed to get everyone involved.
From **“Territory”, "Eclipse" to “Amplifier”,** over the course of the evening we'll be putting our shuffleboard skills to the test against one another.
Best of all, whilst these nights would typically cost £17pp, we've secured an exclusive discount - so this **whole night is just £7.50!**
It should be a really enjoyable night and we'd love to see lots of you there but sadly, these places are very limited and so we will be offered on a first come, first serve basis.
And so if you are keen to join, please do RSVP as soon as you can!

Thames Foreshore Visit - Southbank
Running through the heart of London; the River Thames has played a central role in the history of the city, and when the tide is low, the capital’s longest archaeological site is revealed.
Come along on Sunday 24th May to explore its history!
**About the foreshore**
I will be your guide as we will be going down to the Thames foreshore at low tide, where we will have about 1h 30mins to have a look around for objects before the tide comes in.
I will tell you more about foreshore, the industry in the area and will be on hand to identify and date objects you find. Most objects you can spot sitting on the foreshore after being washed in on the tide (its eyes only, we are not allowed to dig or scrape the foreshore surface).
You will find everything from bits of pottery, clay pipes, bottles, animal bones to ship items. Most of the things we find are from the Medieval to the Victorian period or you might be lucky and find something Roman or older.
**The Thames Foreshore is private land, so before we go down, I have to give everyone a short talk on health & safety on the foreshore.**
We will be finished by about 2:45pm.
**Footwear**
The foreshore is very stoney and sometimes muddy, so please wear sensible shoes (preferably walking boots/shoes or wellington boots). Plastic gloves and bags will be provided.
**Cost**
This is for Full Members of the group only and will be free for Full Members.

C is for Cutty Sark (a Dracula Daily event)
**Dracula will arrive in Whitby on a schooner in August. With no schooners in London, we shall be visiting a clipper; the famous Cutty Sark ship in Greenwich!**
Cutty Sark was built in Dumbarton, Scotland in 1869. On its maiden voyage, the ship departed London on 15 February 1870, bound for Shanghai.
On this outward voyage the ship carried a general cargo, including wine, spirits and beer and manufactured goods. It returned with a cargo of tea.
In 1954 the ship was towed into a specially built dry dock in Greenwich. Extensive restoration work followed, and Cutty Sark was finally reopened to the public in 1957.
**This event is part of our Dracula Daily series of events to connect to the book Dracula, running from May to November 2026. See [https://www.meetup.com/london-museums-a-z-lomaz/events/312216865/](https://www.meetup.com/london-museums-a-z-lomaz/events/312216865/)**
You can sign up for Dracula Daily here: [https://draculadaily.substack.com/about](https://draculadaily.substack.com/about)
Cutting from "The Dailygraph", 8 August, pasted in Mina Murray's journal:
*"...a shudder ran through all who saw her, for lashed to the helm was a corpse, with drooping head, which swung horribly to and fro at each motion of the ship."*
