* We will meet opposite the Kings Cross Station, at the Kings Cross Square, by the Black Sheep Coffee. * From here a short walk to St Pancras station to see the statue of Sir John Betjeman. He was an English poet, writer, and broadcaster. He was Poet Laureate from 1972 until his death. He was a founding member of The Victorian Society and a passionate defender of Victorian architecture, helping to save St Pancras railway station from demolition. The station has recently been voted by The Telegraph as the the most beautiful in the world. * We will then make our way to visit Camley Street Natural Park, which is a unique urban nature reserve. The site was once a coal drop for the railways, and is now managed by London Wildlife Trust. * We will then carry on via Granary Square and Coal Drops Yard into the Regent's Canal towpath, which was opened in 1816 and runs from Limehouse and Finishes in Paddington. * Alongside the canal's scenic route watch out for the bookshop on the barge as well as the Victorian gas holder that has been converted into a garden with a circular lawn and a polished steel pavilion (pictured above). * We will end our walk by the Ice Wharf (Wetherspoons), if we get lucky we might see the Camden Lock in operation. Optional drinks/lunch at the pub. People who would prefer the food from the market can always join us in later the pub. * Wonderful photo-ops for people who would like to explore the Camden High Street and Camden Market. Come along on Saturday 20th December for a Blue Badge Guided Walk around Mayfair! Blue Badge Guides know London better than anyone. They have trained intensively for two years and passed the highest Tourist Guiding qualification in the UK. **About the walk** Explore elegant Mayfair like streets of Shepherd Market, hear about the area’s distinguished residents; Fanny Burney, Florence Nightingale and Lord Byron. We will also see London’s most haunted house and discover a small part of America in Central London. Mayfair is an affluent area which remained largely rural until the early 18th century. It gets its name from the annual May Fair that took place in the first 2 weeks of May from 1686 to 1764. Come along on Sunday 21st December for a Carol Concert at All Souls Church in central London! **About the church** All Souls Church in Langham Place was designed in by John Nash, built of Bath stone and was consecrated in 1824. It is quite a well known church, sitting just off Upper Regent Street and as the church stands directly opposite the BBC, it often broadcasts from the church. All Souls Langham Place will be spreading Christmas cheer with a live choir and orchestra performing some of the nation’s most loved carols. The concert will last about 1 hour. It includes many well known carols. It starts at 5:30pm.
