The host will give you notice if you play dangerously with slide tackles, stomping on other players' legs or going toward the players in a careless way. Start the year off with some friendly faces! Free State is a cozy little spot near Gallery Place. Happy hour prices till 6pm so come early if you please. They have a good N/A selection and outside food is permitted.

Mindful Movement and Flow
Mindful movement and flow: This class is a slower moving, strengthening and balance building practice based on mindfulness. We will bring our intentions to the awareness of our bodies and our breath in movement or in longer held poses. We will explore different breathing techniques that help clear out physical, emotional or mental energies allowing a sense of peace within.
The session is offered InStudio and OnLine. The Zoom link for the OnLine session will be emailed 15 minutes before class starts to those who are registered at www.piesfitnessyoga.com. **Sign up for sessions must be made at least 2 hours prior to class.**

C&O Canal Towpath Between Carderock & Great Falls MD (ODH Training # 1)
This is an easy out-and-back, go-at-your-own pace hike of up to 8 miles on the C&O Canal towpath along a scenic stretch of the Potomac River between Carderock Recreation Area's Parking Lot 4 and Great Falls Tavern Visitor Center. ([Trail map](https://bit.ly/41EUJCq).)
Meet by 10 AM at Parking Lot 4 in Carderock Recreation Area (Note that the Google Map will take you to Lot 2, but follow the signs to Lot 4).
A portion of the hike is along a serene lake-like portion of the canal known as Widewater. The Great Falls Tavern Visitor Center has historical and interpretive information and exhibits about the canal. Restrooms are nearby.
Return to the towpath from the visitor center/restrooms and head back to Carderock. The 0.25-mile Great Falls Overlook trail is 0.3 miles from the visitor center on the right. From the overlook are spectacular views of Great Falls (pictured above).
Although open to all, this hike is part of a series of Saturday training hikes leading up to the [One Day Hike](https://www.meetup.com/sierrapotomac/events/297686196/) (ODH)—100 or 50 km along the C&O Canal—on May 2, 2026. Free In-person Meeting: Unwanted Emotions & Loneliness, How to Get Over Them
This is an in-person meeting.
Did you know that unwanted emotions like loneliness, sadness, hopelessness, anger, fear, anxiety, or feelings of irritation don’t just fall on you for no reason. They are not random occurrences that simply happen to people's minds. They are definitely not chemical imbalance in your brain due to some nebulous chemical reactions by chance.
Your negative emotions are the symptoms of the painful experiences that you have which are not healed, and which are still affecting you.
The effects of these painful experiences are exacerbated by the pressures or difficulties of the other problems in your life.
For instance, let's say you are already carrying a huge load on your back, then you cannot take on much more, but, let's say something else happens to you, such as the difficulties from the Pandemic, then the resultant combined weight on you can take you over the edge, kind of like the straw that break the camel's back. When this happens, people's attention usually goes to the straw that was added, but actually the majority of the weight had come from the huge load that were already there, holding a person down and causing a person issues.
So how do you remove the huge load that was already there? How do you lighten them up? Is it possible to get rid of them?
That is what this meeting will be all about.
