First meeting of London "What do we want as a Sustainable Planet?"
The world is in crisis and many people think we've gone past the tipping point and the planet is doomed.
However, there are those who have hope and faith in science that some can survive the polycrisis and get to live in a sustainable society and planet.
But there's a problem... **There's no clear vision of what a sustainable society and planet should be**, and without that destination, how can we set out on the journey to get there?
Please join like-minded people to discuss this. We'll agree an agenda at the start of the meeting.
Bring an open mind, suggestions and perhaps a pad of paper.
**Here are some topics to be covered.**
Please use the comments/chat to suggest other areas for consideration
*Depending on the mood of attendees, the frequency of further meetups can be agreed.*
**WHAT DO WE WANT A SUSTAINABLE SOCIETY AND PLANET TO LOOK AND FEEL LIKE?**
· A planet with clean atmosphere, oceans and soil with systems in place to keep them that way
· The abolition of poverty and hunger
· Equality of opportunity for all to achieve a peaceful and contented life without fear of physical or other violence
· Access to healthcare, hygiene and sanitation for all
· Access to quality education for all
· A more responsible system of financial structures which embraces the best of co-operative production, capitalism and other systems
· A safe justice system for all
· Societies which respect for the diversity of opinion, ethnicity, sexuality, religion
· Respect for the natural resources and fragility of Planet Earth and their finite capacity
· Societies where the more fortunate, stronger and healthier help those less strong, less fortunate or less healthy.
· Peaceful co-existence between the varying communities of the planet
**What Freedoms ?**
· Freedom to travel anywhere
· Freedom to worship (should there be limitation such as worship should not be based on destroying the existing system…??)
· Freedom from violence
· Freedom from hate
· Freedom from poverty (how define?)
· Freedom of speech
· Freedom from anxiety about the future
· Freedom from concentration of power
· Freedom to preserve culture and arts
· Freedom to make decisions about one’s body
· Freedom to seek representation and to represent others
· Freedom to be different
· Freedom to be heard

🌸 Wildflowers: Our First leisurely Walk & Bloom
**Shoreham to Fackenden down circular walk (4miles).**
Are you ready to turn this digital space into real-life friendships? Community is the heartbeat of this group, and there is no better way to build it than by sharing a path together. Whether you’re here to find a new "bestie" or just want to be surrounded by supportive women, this is a space for us to grow together.
We never know—this walk might just be the first chapter in a lifetime of friendship!
**The Vibe: Connection & Nature**
The goal for our first meetup is to keep things simple and relaxed. We’ll be soaking in the fresh air and stunning views with just a tiny bit of a challenge to keep things rewarding. By late March, we hope to see the landscape waking up with varied wildflowers and, if luck is on our side, some English wild orchids.
* **Togetherness:** We’ll have plenty of time to chat, share stories, and learn about one another.
* **Your Pace:** While community is key, we also respect your personal space. Whether you feel like being chatty or prefer a moment of quiet reflection in nature, you are welcome here.
* **The Route:** Shoreham to Fackenden Down—a stunning upland walk through woods and grasslands with sweeping views.
🕒 The Logistics
* **Meet at Victoria Station:** 11:00 AM (To travel together)
* **Arrive Shoreham Station:** 12:00 PM – 12:30 PM

🥾 Good to Know
* **Fitness:** To keep things "easy-paced" but interesting, please note there are **three steep slopes** and one stile to climb. A basic level of fitness and sturdy shoes will make the experience much more enjoyable!

Public Speaking Practice Saturday (FREE for first timers)
Come and get the chance to speak in a supportive and friendly environment. Public Speaking will boost your confidence and give you more power to speak and to be listened to in both your personal and professional life.
**What makes this public speaking session different from others you ask?**
There is a strong emphasis on self-expression, creativity, trial and error, and most importantly, speaking practice!
**What will you gain from this event?**
* Gain confidence by overcoming your fear of public speaking
* Learn to think on your feet with our Impromptu speaking format
* Get feedback and improve your public speaking with a real audience
* Tips and opportunities to practice: body language, voice, tone, pitch, uses of stories, use of pauses, humour, etc...
**Here's how it works:**
\*I may choose to change the format from time to time based on numbers, and to practice different aspects of public speaking in order to keep it challenging\*
You will put your name in a hat/bowl and when your name is chosen, you will be asked to perform.
You will speak for 2 minutes on a random topic given by the audience. This is called an impromptu speech.
We will do 2-3 rounds of speaking followed by a feedback session at the end of the workshop.
**Public Speaking suggestions:**
TIP: Give your impromptu speech the following 3 sections below.
1. Introduction ("Today, I'm going to talk about....")
2. Body ("Here is my personal experience....")
3. Conclusion ("So, my key message is ....")
Each speech is to be 2 minutes long. Audience size 10-15 people.
You're not obligated to speak, although I may strongly encourage you to do so.
