Popular Board Games
Popular Board Games
We invite you to get acquainted with some popular modern European board games. We grew up enjoying Careers, Clue, Monopoly, and other such games but find these new games to be even better. All of them are easy to learn and are loved by a wide range of players. People will be available to teach how to play each of the games described below. Beginners are welcome. Everyone is welcome to bring other board games that you think people will enjoy. **TICKET TO RIDE**: Engaging for players of almost any age, Ticket to Ride is great fun. The rules are simple but deciding what plays to make in any specific game situation remains interesting and enjoyable for years. **CATAN**: In this game players act as competitive settlers. They acquire resources, trade them with other players, and build and develop their holdings on the island of Catan. The island is different for every game, because it is made of hexes that can connect in almost any order. Players gain victory points as their settlements grow. **CARCASSONNE**: Players take turns placing tiles to build a land with cities, farms, roads, and cloisters. They earn points by claiming and completing those things. This game remains enjoyable, time after time, for years. **STONE AGE**: Immerse yourself in this captivating worker placement game that challenges you to build your primitive civilization through strategic decision-making. You acquire resources and use them to build huts and buy cards that give you victory points. **ALHAMBRA**: In this game players use four different currencies to buy buildings to add to their Alhambras. There are six types of buildings — towers, arcades, pavilions, etc. — each offering different advantages and scoring opportunities. Each decision is a blend of resource management and opportunity. All are invitied to come to the Lodge as guests of Virginia Colin. Please make sure that she signs you in. Drinks and bar food will be available for purchase.
Betrayal at House on the Hill
Betrayal at House on the Hill
*Betrayal at House on the Hill* is a popular horror-themed board game where 3-6 players explore a haunted mansion, building the map as they go, until a "Haunt" event turns one player into a traitor, flipping the game from cooperative to asymmetric, one-vs-many gameplay with different win conditions for the traitor and heroes. The current version is the 3rd Edition, featuring updated art, characters, and rules for 50 different scenarios (Haunts).

Village Idiots Improv Comedy: Beginners
Village Idiots Improv Comedy: Beginners
This is a MeetUp for those interested in practicing improv comedy with the Village Idiots' group's Improv Comedy group currently led by our wonderful host Grass. We will play some introductory games geared towards beginners/those who are curious about improv. Don't be shy, embrace your inner child/dark side and jump right in :) This is a judgment free zone so be as insane as you'd like! Think of this as a cathartic release from your daily rigid life, just the same as laughing when the Terrifier clown is on a killing spree or when you're using cheat codes in a Grand Theft Auto game... After all, bad living is good improv! (No people are actually harmed in the exercises, obviously). All are welcome, and the more, the merrier!
