Friday night Brazilian zouk dance class followed by socialising, drinks and practice dance. A fun dance class 7.30-9 pm where you'll meet lots of first-time dancers and get to know everyone before dancing the night away and socialising. There is a discount for the beginner's class! No experience is required, and you don't need to bring a partner, as partners change regularly to enable everyone to get to know each other. Most people come by themselves and make new friends! After the class, the club night goes on till midnight with DJs and a bar. The venue is hired out exclusively for the people who come for dance classes and practice. Brazilian culture, with its welcoming atmosphere, celebrates the arrival of spring. We all agree that life should be more than just work. It's a Brazilian samba group that celebrates music, cultural heritage, community, sociability, and diversity in the UK. The event takes place once a month, on Sundays, at Maxilla Social Club close the tube station Latimer Road. The event is open to everyone from all over nacionalities interested in Brazilian culture. Exploring the musical archives with captivation at both a very young age and later as music radio presentator, club DJ & musicologist - I discovered only snippets of an estimated 97 million songs even though I went all the way back to the 17th century! If you love music, then you'll know it's not just entertainment but a spritual soulful experiene ("I hear my compositions as a single point of light, all I do is hold that point of light in my mind whilst I write it down" Wolfgang Mozart) So let's immense ourselves in our passion by enjoying music, singing, dancing with drinks in hand whilst broadening our music knowledge and exposure by discovering new material, artists and even genres at fun musically themed night out for passionate music lovers in the UK home of rock n roll - Camden of course! Contemporary or old - you must be passionate about music which means you will be prepared to talk about your favourite song(s) and or artist(s), influences and underlying reasons at ease. Picture the Grand Ball scenes like you’ve seen in period films such as “Pride and Prejudice”, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. That’s English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like “swing your partner” and “do-si-do,” like you’ve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alá “Riverdance.” Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude. THAT’s Contra Dancing! Wear cool and comfortable clothes (you will get warm) and clean shoes that won't mark up our nice wood floor. Be sure to come for the beginner's lesson from 7:30 - 8:00, followed by dancing 8:00 - 10:30. All dances are taught; we will help you learn! Beginners always welcome, no need to bring a partner.
