*Writers Mosaic* presents an evening of conversation, poetry, film and music with writers **Marjorie Lotfi**, **Sana Nassari** and **Shara Atashi** and Iranian musicians, as well as the extraordinary photography of **Hengameh Golestan**, which documents women protesting the oppression of the Iranian authorities. For generations and with great courage, women in Iran have protested against the restrictions imposed on them. The chants of ‘Women, Life, Freedom’ have never diminished. We are delighted to welcome guest speaker **François Hallac**, who will give a short talk on **Spinoza’s pantheism**. The talk will provide a starting point for a broader, open discussion of pantheism during the meeting. Spinoza invites us to rethink everything by identifying God with Nature: a single infinite Substance whose attributes—thought and extension—shape all that exists. Human beings are modes of this vast unity, our minds and bodies expressions of the same divine order. To live well is to actualise our essence through understanding our desires, for joy is the fruit of clarity. Like Descartes, Spinoza seeks clear and distinct ideas, yet he rejects dualism and embraces determinism: nothing is contingent, only misunderstood. Freedom arises when reason aligns us with Nature itself. In this union, the philosopher discovers genuine happiness and a profound sense of belonging to the whole. No prior expertise is required—curiosity and a willingness to think together are enough. We will get the; **11.14am ( going to Shepperton )** or the **11.25am train ( going to Windsor & Eton Riverside )** To switch trains at **Clapham Junction** to get the **11.45am to Dorking** We will be getting off at... **Ewell East** ... & the start of the walk is a short stroll from the station. We will be following a river trail, of the Hogsmill River 👣😊 We will picnic somewhere along the way & go to a pub later, near sunset 😊👣 There is a train once an hour from Kingston back to Waterloo, e.g. at 6.49, 7.49, 8.49, etc. Bring plenty of water, sensible walking shoes, & bring or buy enroute, vegan picnic stuff 😊 See you there! 😊
