Trev is hosting Games Night in The Fairlop Oak on 4th March. If you can't make it by 7pm, just come along when you can. The end time is an estimate, some people may want to go a bit earlier, some may stay later. For those coming by train, its Fairlop station and turn right to the roundabout where the pub sits. Its also served by seven bus routes - 128, 150, 167, 169, 247, 275, 462. For those driving, there is a lot of free parking a stone's throw from the pub - along Fullwell Ave and it's side roads. There is no Meetup fee.

Come and play what is simply and by far, the best board game in the world. Whether an experienced regular player, an occasional player, someone who has not played for a long time or a beginner you will be welcome. We meet on the first Wednesday of the month (6pm to 11pm) at the Richard 1st pub. at 52/54 Royal Hill, Greenwich SE10 8RT. As ever beginners wanting to learn how to play are welcome and will be given lessons. For experienced players we have a team (The Greenwich Meantimers) that plays at other clubs and in tournaments. We operate our own club ladder on which results are recorded with all results also being added to the national ladder of the UK Backgammon Federation with whom we are affiliated.

Join us on a 7 mile* walk from Wimbledon Park to Richmond Bridge. The walk, as Section 6 of the Capital Ring, begins on pavement before crossing Wimbledon Common and Richmond Park mainly on grass or gravel paths. At this time of year the Common and Park may be muddy, so please dress appropriately. There are some short steep ascents and descents with plenty of cafes and rest stops along the way. * The walk should take a leisurely 4 hours with the opportunity to leave at the route's mid point where it crosses the A3 (at Asda). Picture the Grand Ball scenes like you’ve seen in period films such as “Pride and Prejudice”, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. That’s English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like “swing your partner” and “do-si-do,” like you’ve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alá “Riverdance.” Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude.
