Paul's Daytime Christmas Pub Crawl, Starting at South Quay.
Come with me and explore some of the finest pubs South Quay and Greenwich has to offer.
We will meet at South Quay DLR Station at 11.30am, and at 11.45 am will make our way to one of my favourite pubs The Gun, {as image above.}
{The pub dates back to the early 18th century but took its current name from the cannon which was fired to celebrate the opening of the West India Import Docks in 1802. In the late 18th century, Lord Horatio Nelson acquired a property just up the road (still known as Nelson’s House) and he regularly visited the docks to inspect the guns up until his glorious death at the battle of Trafalgar in 1805. Lord Nelson would frequent The Gun and regularly meet Lady Emma Hamilton in an upstairs room (now called The River Room) for their secret assignations. The Gun also has a long association with smugglers landing contraband on the site and distributing it via a hidden tunnel. To this day there is still a spy-hole in the secret circular staircase to watch out for “The Revenue Men”.}
After we have been in the Gun Pub we will follow the Thames Path back down to Island Gardens, and walk through the Greenwich Foot Tunnel and make our way to The Sail Loft.
After the Sail Loft our next port of call will be for lunch at the Trafalgar Tavern, { or you can bring your own} then on to The Yacht, finishing off at the Cutty Sark Pub. Stretching over 3 floors of an historic Georgian free house,
The Cutty Sark is a vintage pub and restaurant by the River Thames in London. We will then retrace our steps walking back to The Cutty Sark DLR which is about 10 minutes walk away. Walking distance approx. 3 miles.
Meet up fee £5 {please have the right change.}

The Mighty Handful Christmas Singalong • Live Band @ All Bar One in Richmond
Hello Richmond Socialites
Please join me at 6pm on the top floor of All Bar One in Richmond on Sunday 21st December to join in with this unique Christmas carols singalong.
For now, I have a table booked for 12, but generally everyone stands and sings with song sheets. Note it will be EXTREMELY busy and noisy, and there will be lots of tuneless singing and dancing.
*The band quote:*
*"We hope you can all join us for the highlight of the yuletide calendar... We'll be playing songs from throughout the decades with a liberal sprinkling of Christmas classics and carols to join in with, various other tried-and-tested shenanigans and the great kazoo orchestra! Plus hopefully some guest artists..."*
**PLEASE DO NOT SIGN UP THEN NOT TURN UP. I'm watching you. You'll be marked as a no-show if you don't adjust your RSVP.**

Contra dance Dec. 20 (First Unitarian Universalist Church)
# **Band: Firefly Trace, caller Kenny Greer**
Beginner lesson at 7:30, regular dancing begins at 8:00
**Sponsor: All Soles Contra and Square Dancing, First Unitarian Universalist Church, 93 W. Weisheimer Rd., Columbus OH 43214**
WHAT IS CONTRA DANCING? Picture the Grand Ball scenes like you’ve seen in period films such as “Pride and Prejudice”, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. That’s English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like “swing your partner” and “do-si-do,” like you’ve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alá “Riverdance.” Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude. THAT’s Contra Dancing!
Wear cool and comfortable clothes (you will get warm) and clean shoes that won't mark up our nice wood floor.
Be sure to come for the beginner's lesson from 7:30 - 8:00, followed by dancing 8:00 - 10:30. All dances are taught; we will help you learn! Beginners always welcome, no need to bring a partner.
Cost is $10.00 adults, $5.00 ages 12-26. Under 12 free. Free parking in church lot.
Please bring your own refillable water bottle.
Being John Malkovich
Who says you can't get into someone else's head? In the 1999 movie, *Being John Malkovich*, Charlie Kaufmann and Spike Jonze explore the answer to that question with some strange and extremely funny consequences! Nominated for 3 Academy Awards, be prepared for a "mind altering" discussion!
Contra dance with Big Scioty on Jan 3 - First Congregational Church
**Caller: Gaye Fifer**
**Band: Hot Coffee Breakdown**
**Big Scioty Contra Dance**
**temporarily returning to our long ago location for Jan-March - First Congregational Church, 444 E. Broad St., Columbus 43215**
