๐Ÿ”๐Ÿฆ DANFORTH BURGER & ICE CREAM WALK! ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿ” A Summer Evening Stroll, One of Toronto's Most Underrated Burgers & Giant Ice Cream Scoops Sometimes the best events are the simplest ones. Join us for a relaxed summer evening walk along the Danforth as we make our way from Main Street Station to Broadview Station, enjoying one of Toronto's most vibrant neighbourhoods along the way. This isn't about rushing from place to place. It's about getting outside, enjoying the evening, meeting new people, and sharing a couple of local favourites that many Torontonians still haven't discovered. Our first stop will be Square Boy, a true Danforth institution that serves some of the most underrated burgers in Toronto. No fancy gimmicks. No social media hype. Just great burgers that locals have loved for decades. ๐Ÿ” They are soo goo that they ONLY TAKE CASH! After we've eaten, we'll walk across the street to Kawartha Dairy for dessert. If you've never been before, prepare yourself. The scoops are legendary. Seriously. Most first-time visitors cannot believe how much ice cream they give you. ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿ˜„ Afterward, we'll continue our walk west along the Danforth toward Broadview Station, enjoying the neighbourhood, conversation, and hopefully a beautiful summer evening. ๐Ÿ“ฒ **Join Our WhatsApp Group:**[ Click here to join](https://chat.whatsapp.com/DRFTkxRlHS4B3IL1lMleUd) *** ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ What We'll Do We'll begin at Main Street Station and start our walk along the Danforth. TOPHATs Places of Pride, The ArQuives, and a bit of the Hair of the Dog
Join Lawrence, you top hatted host, as we discover some of the key locations of our 2SLGBTQIA+ community in Toronto. As a queer ally, I have wanted to include a walk that covers some of the historic location in our Gay Village. We will begin our adventure at The ArQuives, to see an exhibit The Wild and The Weeds, about Hanlanโ€™s Point Beach is positioned as more than the site of the 1971 Gay Day Picnic. https://arquives.ca/event/the-wild-and-the-weeds/ 34 Isabella St, Toronto, ON M4Y 1N1 Then we will head over to the Foy House, a queer art gallery, owned by Georgia W. This heritage building, has survived the wrecking ball of gentrification, and hosts a monthly gayming event. https://www.tagvenue.com/ca/rooms/toronto/67586/foy-house/first-floor 92 Isabella St, Toronto, ON M4Y 1N4 Our walk continues past the The Home Children Plaque Beginning in 1869, British charitable societies removed children from slums and orphanages in congested industrial cities and brought them to Canada to serve as cheap farm and domestic labour. Dr. Barnardo arranged for many *children* to be sent to *Toronto*, where they were sent to work on farms or serve as domestic help. https://www.heritagetoronto.org/explore/barnardo-emigration-home-children/ Our next stop is the AIDS memorial in Barbara Hall Park. Here we will stop for a moment of silence for those who died from this terrible illness. https://www.theaidsmemorial.ca/ Next stop is the 519 Community Centre. For fifty years, The 519 has been a place where community gathers, organizes, celebrates, and shows up for one another. Itโ€™s a place to imagine something better. August 15-22, they will host an exhibition of their fifty years of caring for this community. https://www.the519.org/support-the-519/50th/ 519 Church St, Toronto, ON M4Y 2C9 Then we will head past the former location of Glad Day Bookshop. Opened in 1970 by [Jearld Moldenhauer](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jearld_Moldenhauer "Jearld Moldenhauer"), it was the city's and Canada's first bookstore targeted to the [gay](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gay "Gay") community. If you need some Queer literature, they have relocated to 32 Lisgar. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glad_Day_Bookshop No queer walk is complete without going to City Park Apartments, the apartment complex was vital to the development of the Churchโ€“Wellesley Village in the 1950s. https://www.heritagetoronto.org/explore/city-park-apartments-lgbtq/ Then it's time for some beer and social time at the Hair of the Dog Pub. https://hairofthedogpub.ca/ 425 Church St, Toronto, ON M4Y 2C3

๐Ÿ‚ Rouge National Urban Park Hike and Picnic๐ŸŒณ
๐Ÿ‚ **Fall Walk: Rouge National Urban Park** ๐ŸŒณ is Canada's only Urban Park and is one of our most popular hikes that we do as it's really the only hiking trail in Toronto that you can get to by TTC. Once you are on the trail you will not believe that you are still in the City. Not only will we be walking up and hills but I will take you to one of the best lookout points in the Valley. You don't want to miss an afternoon of hiking. This trail can be a bit challenging (with some ups and downs), so it may not be the best choice for beginners. But if youโ€™re up for it, youโ€™ll feel proud of yourself at the end โ€” and youโ€™ll have shared the experience with a great group of people. Walk & Talk About Life's Big Questions
Walk & Talk About Life's Big Questions
[The Board Walks](http://www.theboardwalks.com/) are for curious people who love deep conversations. If that sounds like you, **bring a thoughtful topic** and join us for a 5-mile walk (10,000+ steps!). **HOW IT WORKS** **Step 1: Bring a topic** Before you arrive, think of **one** topic you want to explore. A question. A thought that's been on your mind. An obsession you want to geek out on. This is your ticket to the event. **Step 2: Circle up & share** We gather in a circle. Your friendly walk host gives a speech to set the tone. Everyone shares: your name, what you're grateful for, and your topic. That's it. 60 seconds. **Step 3: Walk, talk & float** We walk 5 miles. You naturally drift into conversation with 2-3 people at a time, pulled by topics that spark your curiosity. When you're ready to move on, just say: "I'm going to float!" **Step 4: Feel more alive** Two hours flies by. You're back where you started โ€” but you feel different. More alive. More energized. More connected to yourself and others. That's why regulars join 20+ times. *For more details, read our [Orientation Guide.](https://www.theboardwalks.com/orientation)* **HOW TO BRING A GREAT TOPIC** A great topic = something you're genuinely curious about. Recent topics include: * "What are you passionate about right now?" * "What makes a good friend?" * "What's a belief you used to hold that you've completely changed?" * "How do you want to be remembered?" * "What would you do if money wasn't a factor?" Think of your topic like the dish you're bringing to our conversational potluck. If everyone brings an A+ dish (i.e. energizing, uplifting, expansive), we'll all walk away feeling lighter and brighter. **WHAT TO EXPECT** This isn't a fitness event with casual chitchat. It's a walking think tank where we explore life's big questions together, beyond small talk. *If you're looking for light banter or a standard networking event, this probably isn't the right fit.* But if you crave depth, genuine connection, and conversations that make you feel alive? You'll love it here. **FAQ** * Wear casual athletic attire and sneakers. It's a long walk! * We have multiple first-timers at each event. We work hard to create a welcoming, inclusive, clique-free space. * We welcome people of **all** ages, backgrounds, and industries who align with the [intention](https://www.theboardwalks.com/ground-rules) of this space. * Rain or shine, we've been out here nearly every week since July 2022. If the event is cancelled, we'll let you know. * Dogs, babies in strollers, parents, and friends are welcome โ€” please text/email them the event link so they can RSVP and prepare a topic! **LOGISTICS** * If you'll arrive over 10 minutes late, we suggest skipping the event. It's hard to find us once we start walking, and your host can't answer messages during the event. * This walk is designed for everyone to *move together at the same steady pace* (about 20 min/mile). This format works best when the whole group moves in unison. If you have mobility limitations, we kindly encourage you to find an event better suited to your needs. * Read our [Orientation Guide](https://www.theboardwalks.com/orientation) for full details. * If you enjoy the event, send **[this](http://www.theboardwalks.com/)** to a friend or sign up for our **[newsletter](https://theboardwalks.beehiiv.com/)**. We're in multiple cities with more on the way. ๐Ÿค ๐Ÿ‘‹ **IF YOU WANT TO GO DEEPER...** [The Board](https://stan.store/ellebeecher/p/the-board) is the next step: a high-trust collective for renaissance people devoted to creating, connecting, and building lives that light us up. * This is a global HQ for people who crave big talk, deep connection, and dream collaborations with people across industries. If the walks feel like a spark... The Board is the fire. Apply [here](https://stan.store/ellebeecher/p/the-board).

Join the Introverts of Columbus at Quarry Trails Metro Park for an afternoon walk in the Park. We'll meet near the parking lot area for about 15 minutes before heading out to chat and hike through the metro park. This will be a casually paced walk to allow people to get to know each other, and enjoy nature at the same time. ๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿšจ Please note that there are multiple parking areas for the Quarry Trails Park, and please note the address in the event to get to the correct starting area! ๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿšจ

Hike Scioto Audubon Trail with optional lunch at Nocterra
**No, the hike is not canceled! We will cut it short if need be but Iโ€™m confident we can do this! One of the last times (Feb.) it was 12 degrees and three of us showed up and had a fantastic time. Iโ€™m confident this hike will be the same :). Just bring water!** **Hike the Scioto Audubon trail. All paved and flat!** **Plan on 3-4 miles. Hike at your own pace, no one left behind.** **Lunch after at Nocterra for those who wish.**
