We heard stories that were funny, poignant, and top-notch, so here's another Moth event. This time, the topic is Narrow Escapes. Expect an evening of captivating tales. 🔆 **NARROW ESCAPES**: Sit back and enjoy a storytelling competition of true, personal, five-minute stories about cheating fate -- just barely. Dodging disaster by inches, slipping through a closing door, or talking one's way out of a sticky situation. Heart racing, palms sweating, a big sigh of relief. Join the Bicycle Trails Council of the East Bay (BTCEB) for a morning of trail work at Joaquin Miller Park in Oakland. We'll work on the Cinderella Trail. We'll supply the tools, snacks and beverages. Please bring gloves, water bottle, sturdy shoes and wear long sleeves and pants if you are concerned with poison oak. **About us:** The Bay Area Chronic Pain & Illness Peer Support Group is a friendly, unstructured, in-person peer support group for anybody 18+ who lives with chronic pain, illness(es), invisible disabilities, or any type of mental health experiences. The group is a casual safe space to hang out, talk about our lives, share coping strategies, form friendships, create community, and get support. The group is part of [Better Because Collective](https://betterbecausecollective.org/), a mental health nonprofit that supports people as they navigate difficult life experiences. Laser Cutter Safety Training

Learn how to be safe while using the laser cutter! We have a 150W, CO2 laser cutter with a 3 x 4 ft bed. This training is required to use the laser cutter because we don't want people setting our most expensive equipment donation on fire. You have to do this training even if you were trained at the old space, as we have different safety features now. Training covers * Dangers of the laser cutter * How to be safe * How to put out a fire Each participant will cut a piece of cardboard on the laser cutter while following all the safety steps. This is also a good place to ask questions about specific materials or projects. There is a 5$ fee to register, and we suggest a 20-30$ donation for this class: https://donate.noisebridge.net. If the registration fee is a barrier to your participation, please reach out to the event organisers.

Do LLMs know anything?

We are hosting a series of discussions focused on the philosophy of AI. Our motivating questions are whether today's LLMs have knowledge, whether they are conscious, whether they have agency, and finally whether they can be moral. Trivia Night at the Patriot House in San Francisco

TELEGRAPH HILL & THE WATERFRONT

**This is a new walk. Though it is in familiar ground it is a new route.** **In the middle of our walk we expect to see on Telegraph Hill a giant plant with giant flowers that planted itself there and now in full bloom. It is called "Pride of Madeira" and it usually blooms in and around the month of April.** **The photo above here shows these flowers on Telegraph Hill about a year ago. Notice that the flowers are blue, Bees are attracted by the color blue more than any other.** **THE START OF OUR WALK** **We will gather at the far East end of the top of the Salesforce Terminal, next to the Beale Street Elevator, at 11:00 AM. The top has a beautiful park.** **I am charging $5 cash for this walk, but I don't collect the $5 until the middle of the walk. I only charge for half of my walks. Children are always free.** **At 11:10 AM we will start walking. Late attendees may find us walking around up there.** **To find me: I am 6 feet tall, wear a big blue & black hat and have a clipboard. One should bring water, and a sack lunch.** **Late attendees may find us walking around up there.** **We will officially end at Montgomery & Market Street where there is a BART Station, but I will be walking back to the Salesforce Terminal and others going there may join me.** **I advise taking public transportation & not driving to SF because both driving and parking there is usually bad.** **This walk is our first to honor a flower or plant. I will try to pick one to honor each month. My next one is the roses in the Berkeley Rose Garden.
