NSL Hacks - Capture the Flag Night!

Sat, Apr 11, 2:00 AM
From Null Space Labs
4.9

A monthly meeting for those interested in learning more about cyber security, hacking, penetration testing, reverse engineering, and embedded security. If you're interested in cyber security, come make some friends and learn some new things! This month we'll be working together to solve challenges in the UMass Capture the Flag (CTF) event! Check out event details at https://ctf.umasscybersec.org/rules and https://ctftime.org/event/2937. If this if your first time playing a CTF, the concept is that we are given problem which have hidden answers (flags) that we need to discover, decrypt, or hack our way to. There are different categories of problems that focus on specific skillsets (reverse engineering, binary exploitation, forensics, etc) and problems range from beginner to advanced. CTFs are a great way to learn a lot of different hacking concepts, tools, and techniques! You should bring a laptop that you are comfortable using to do command line things, programming, and running virtual machines to examine and debug untrusted code. Here are some intro guides if you'd like to try some CTF problems and setup your systems beforehand: * https://primer.picoctf.org/ * https://medium.com/@cham3leon/beginners-guide-to-ctfs-1ce99ee0071a * https://ctf101.org/intro/what-is-a-ctf/ ============================= **Where do I park? / How do I get inside?** Parking: There is free street parking on N Ontario St. It is usually easy to find a spot after business hours or on weekends. Getting inside: Once you park, head down the walkway, we are the long building in the back (see link for overhead directions) # **Parking and entry images**: https://032.la/#contact **What does this cost?** This event is FREE, but we are happy to accept donations in cash or online.
