**🀄 About the Event**
Come join us for an afternoon of **Hong Kong Style Mahjong** at Santa Monica Brew Works.
This meetup is intended to provide a relaxed, respectful, and social environment where participants can play Mahjong, meet other attendees, learn the game, and spend an enjoyable Sunday afternoon together.
**Beginners are absolutely welcome, and teaching will be provided.**
Whether you already know how to play Hong Kong Style Mahjong, have played only a few times, or are completely new to the game, you are welcome to participate.
Hong Kong Style Mahjong is a traditional four-player tile game involving strategy, pattern recognition, decision-making, and chance. Players build combinations of tiles and work toward completing a valid Mahjong hand.
You do not need to memorize every rule or scoring combination before attending. Newer players will have an opportunity to learn the fundamentals, ask questions, and become comfortable with gameplay.
The event is best suited for **beginner to intermediate players**, with an emphasis on learning, playing, socializing, and maintaining good sportsmanship.
Please arrive by **2:00 PM** so we can organize tables and begin games promptly. The event will conclude at approximately **5:30 PM**.

**👥 Who Is Welcome?**
This event is open to adults interested in playing or learning **Hong Kong Style Mahjong** in a social setting.
New players are welcome.
Returning players are welcome.
Experienced players are also welcome, provided they are comfortable playing in an environment that may include beginners and less-experienced participants.
Experienced players are expected to remain patient when newer participants need clarification, additional time, or assistance understanding the rules.
The objective is to create an environment where people can comfortably learn, participate, and enjoy Mahjong without unnecessary pressure or hostility.

**💵 Event Cover Fee**
The **event cover fee is $5.00 per person**.
The cover fee applies to participation in the organized Mahjong event, including event organization, hosting, coordination, teaching assistance for newer players, and use of Mahjong equipment provided for the event.
The event cover fee does **not** include food, beer, beverages, or other items sold by Santa Monica Brew Works.
Any purchases from Santa Monica Brew Works must be paid directly to the venue and are separate from the event cover fee.
The $5 event cover fee is strictly an **event participation fee**.
It is not a bet, wager, gambling payment, buy-in, prize contribution, gaming stake, or payment based on Mahjong wins, losses, scores, hands, or gameplay results.

**🚗 Parking**
Parking is generally ample around Santa Monica Brew Works.
A **dedicated parking lot** is available for the establishment and surrounding businesses.
Additional **metered street parking** is also available on streets adjacent to the venue.
Please allow a few additional minutes for parking and check all posted signs, meter requirements, time limits, and parking restrictions before leaving your vehicle.
Attendees are responsible for complying with all posted parking regulations.

**🍺 Venue & Alcohol Information**
Although this event is titled **Drunken Mahjong: Bamboos & Brews**, consuming alcohol is entirely optional.
No participant is required or expected to purchase or consume alcohol in order to participate.
Attendees who choose to consume alcohol are expected to do so legally, responsibly, and in accordance with all Santa Monica Brew Works policies.
**Do not pressure another attendee to drink alcohol.**
Drinking games, drinking challenges, forced consumption, or activities intended to encourage excessive alcohol consumption are not part of this event.
Participants who become significantly intoxicated, disruptive, aggressive, or unable to conduct themselves appropriately may be removed from gameplay or asked to leave.
Anyone consuming alcohol is responsible for arranging safe transportation afterward.
Please follow all venue rules and reasonable instructions from Santa Monica Brew Works employees.
Keep tables and surrounding areas reasonably clean, maintain an appropriate noise level, and remain considerate of brewery customers who are not participating in the meetup.
The venue controls alcohol service and may refuse service when appropriate.

**🚫 No Gambling / No Money Involved in Gameplay**
**This is a strictly non-gambling Mahjong event.**
There will be **no gambling, betting, wagering, cash play, money pool, prize pool, side bets, gambling buy-ins, or financial stakes connected to Mahjong gameplay**.
Mahjong will be played solely for **recreational, educational, and social purposes**.
No attendee will receive or lose money based on Mahjong wins, losses, points, completed hands, tiles, or gameplay results.
The $5 event cover fee is completely separate from Mahjong gameplay and does not vary based on any participant's performance.
**Gambling is strictly prohibited at this event.**
Any participant found organizing gambling, collecting money for gambling, attempting to create a gambling pool, engaging in wagering, or involving other attendees in gambling **will be removed from the event and may be permanently banned from future community events**.

Disagreements regarding rules, scoring, or gameplay should be handled calmly and respectfully.
**Aggressive, hostile, threatening, harassing, bullying, intimidating, discriminatory, or deliberately disruptive conduct is prohibited.**
Please respect personal boundaries. If another attendee asks you to stop a behavior, give them space, or leave them alone, respect that request.
Participants are expected to treat the host respectfully and non-hostilely. Questions, disagreements, or concerns may be raised respectfully.
Aggressive or hostile conduct directed toward the host, another attendee, venue employee, or customer may result in immediate removal from the event.
Serious or repeated violations of the code of conduct may result in the attendee being **banned from future Andy's Mahjong and Board Game Community events**.

**📅 Cancellation Policy**
If you can no longer attend, please cancel your RSVP **at least 24 hours before the event start time**.
Advance cancellation allows another interested participant to take an available seat if table capacity is limited.

**Photos and videos may be taken during this event.**
