Taking the direct Harz Express train from Berlin, the hike climbs the picturesque town of Thale up to the famous Hexentanzplatz (the "Witches' Dance Floor"). Perched on a dramatic rocky plateau about 454 meters above sea level, this route treats you to some of the most striking gorge scenery in northern Europe. As you leave the town behind, you'll walk alongside the rushing waters of the Bode River before beginning your ascent into the deep, rugged granite ravines of the Bodetal nature reserve. The terrain offers an immersive and moderately challenging trek, winding upward through dense, ancient forests of beech and oak. The paths are well-established but can become uneven and rocky, rewarding your physical effort with stunning lookout points along the way. From these clearings, you'll get breathtaking panoramic views of the sheer cliff faces, the green thickets blanketing the valley floor, and the imposing Rosstrappe cliff rising directly across the gorge. Beyond the natural beauty, this hike is steeped in German folklore and cultural history. The Hexentanzplatz itself is famously known as an old Saxon cult site and the legendary gathering place for witches on Walpurgis Night (the eve of May 1st), a tradition that heavily inspired Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s masterpiece, Faust. Once you reach the top, the mystical atmosphere is brought to life by iconic metal sculptures of witches and devils, the historic Walpurgis Hall museum, and an open-air mountain theater, making the summit just as captivating as the journey up. After the hike, take the cable car down to the valley below, and enjoy a wonderful setting of the entire Harz. Pillnitz Wine Hike: Dresden - Day Trip from Berlin

Explore one of Dresden's best wine terraces, hiking from winery to winery. Take a day trip to Dresden's most beautiful wine terrace, facing out across the Elbe visiting palaces, walking through vineyards, and tasting some of the best local wines. The day’s adventure will combine hiking through vineyards, visiting spectacular palaces and wine terraces, while enjoying views across the magnificent Elbe. The tour of Pilnitz will take you through the old palace and gardens, before journeying along the region's famed Saxon Wine Route. Along the way, we'll visit multiple wineries, enjoying wine and cake along the river, before visiting the award-winning Weingut Klaus Zimmerling. The hike is a casual 10km trek, with steep inclines and stunning views. This is a trip for anyone who loves nature and adores wine. Hi everyone! 🌿🥾 This time, we’re heading out for a **longer hike around the beautiful Werbellinsee**, north of Berlin. Expect a full day surrounded by nature, walking along forest paths and around the lake — a great chance to leave the city behind, enjoy the fresh air, and spend the day outdoors together. 📍 **Meeting point:** Ostkreuz Station, platform 14 📅 **Sunday, September 13** ⏰ **Meeting time:** 8:30 am 🚆 **Train departure:** 8:41 am We’ll travel together to Eberswalde, change trains there, and continue to **Joachimsthal Kaiserbahnhof**, arriving at around 9:55 am. 🥾 **The hike:** The route will take approximately **7 hours**. We’ll start and finish in Joachimsthal and spend most of the day walking through the forest and along the lake. This hike is all about **nature, movement, fresh air, and good company** — there won’t be much sightseeing or historical stops along the way (apart from an old tower!). 🧺 **Picnic break:** Around halfway through the hike, we’ll find a nice spot in nature for a relaxed picnic together. I’ll bring a blanket! Please bring enough **food, snacks, and water/drinks** to keep yourself energized and hydrated throughout the day. 👟 **What to bring:** Please wear comfortable, sturdy shoes suitable for a long hike and dress according to the weather. **Wasserturm and Pumpstation Tour – Cycling Tour to Grunewald and Spandau** **Time:** 15:00 **Theme:** Cycle Tour + Water Infrastructure + Industrial Heritage + Nature **Start:** Water Tower Prenzlauer Berg (just opposite side of street from Umani restaurant) **Distance:** 25–30 km **Suggested contribution:** €5 Join me for a cycling journey from the centre of Berlin through **Charlottenburg, the Grunewald and along the Havel**, exploring the water infrastructure of Berlin. This is a tour about **water**: where Berlin got it, how it was pumped, stored and cleaned, and how the infrastructure built to supply a rapidly growing city is still visible today. We'll start at the best known Wasserturm in PBerg then tour past several others on our way to the the olderest surviving pumpstation in the city: the historic **Wasserwerk Teufelssee**, now home to the Ökowerk Nature Conservation Centre. We'll explore the remarkable surviving machinery and buildings of Berlin's oldest complete surviving waterworks, before taking a break at the nearby beer garden. From there we'll continue north through the Grunewald, taking in the Grunewald turm and then along the Havel, eventually reaching Wansee. **The Tour** Berlin's growth in the nineteenth century created a huge problem: **how do you supply a rapidly expanding city with clean water?** Our route follows the answer. Starting in central Berlin, we'll cycle west towards Charlottenburg, where the development of wealthy new neighbourhoods created an urgent demand for a reliable water supply. Along the way we'll see the **Wasserturm Berlin** and make our way towards Grunewald and the historic **Wasserwerk Teufelssee**. Built between 1871 and 1873, the waterworks originally supplied the new villa district of Westend. It was later expanded and became part of the municipal water system, eventually supplying large parts of southern Berlin. The machinery, filter halls, water tanks and other elements of the original complex have survived remarkably well. Today the site is the **Ökowerk Nature Conservation Centre**, creating a fascinating meeting point between industrial heritage and nature. We'll take some time here to explore the site and have a drink at the nearby beer garden before continuing our ride. From the Grunewald we'll head towards the Havel, following the landscape north towards Wansee. Along the way we'll see how Berlin's natural landscape has been shaped by infrastructure—waterworks, reservoirs, canals, roads and energy systems—while still remaining one of the city's great recreational spaces. We'll finish in **Wansee**, where you can either take the train home or, if you're feeling energetic, continue cycling back into central Berlin. I am an accredited tour guide in Berlin, specialising in telling stories about the city's industrial heritage. Heath Blossom Hike: Treuenbrietzen to Luckenwalde (27 km)

This hike starts in the picturesque town of Treuenbrietzen, from where it takes us through some swampy forest (Mosquito alert - bring repellent!). Continuing through fields and villages, a former military area with heath vegetation and sandy trails awaits us and may offer the chance for some barefoot walking. This hike's lost place is a rather unusual one, since it's a town that got erased by the soviet army to make space for military use, so there might not be a lot of it left. After entering the town of Luckenwalde we catch one of the trains that run at least every hour to Berlin. Meet us in the **first car of the train RE4**, departing from **Südkreuz station at 10:15 on platform 5,** **arriving at Jüterbog, Bahnhof at 10:54, then taking the Train RB33 at 11:11 to Treuenbrietzen, Bahnhof (same platform).** **There is an alternative connection from Potsdam. Make sure to arrive at Treuenbrietzen train station at 11:30** Unless you are subscribed to the Deutschlandticket, you need to buy a train ticket to Treuenbrietzen. Please note: * As a grown-up, you are responsible for yourself. * Come prepared for wet and windy weather. * Wear appropriate footwear, we may come across some muddy and sandy sections. * Bring enough water, food and some cash with you. * Please be fair and only RSVP if you are sure you can make it and update if your plans change. Walk around the Tegeler See/Forst

As the next event in our hiking series, we will walk in the vicinity of the Tegeler See and Tegeler Forst. We will meet just outside U-Alt-Tegel station at 11:00. Please don't be late! You should expect to be back at U-Alt-Tegel earliest at 16:30. Note that U-Alt-Tegel is still closed, so if you take the U6, you'll have to switch to a bus at Kurt-Schumacher-Platz. Alternatively take the S-Bahn to S-Tegel. This will be a fairly lengthy hike - approximately 17 km in total, although it is on almost completely flat ground. At about 8 km we will reach an area with a few cafes, so we might be able to stop for some food or a drink, if there's space. But I'd suggest bringing a sandwich. Definitely bring water. Please bring water, sun-screen and appropriate clothing/shoes. You will also need a BVG ticket (covering zone B). Well behaved animals are of course welcome!

Whether you've never exercised before or you're looking for a new challenge, this class is designed to help you build strength and confidence at your own pace. Hi, I'm Maroof 👋 I've been practicing calisthenics for over six years and one of the things I love most about it is that it brings people together. Watching people achieve movements they never thought possible, whether it's their first push-up, their first pull-up or their first handstand, is incredibly rewarding. What to expect Each session includes a guided warm-up, beginner-friendly strength exercises using your bodyweight, progressions for pushing, pulling, squatting and core strength, optional introductions to calisthenics skills as you progress and a fun team game at the end (with a small prize for the winners 😁) Every exercise has easier and harder variations so you can work at a level that suits you. There is no pressure to keep up with anyone else.
