'Sole to Soul' Walk & Talk

'Sole to Soul' Walk & Talk

Sat, May 23, 9:00 AM
From Walk & Talk - Deeper Conversations in Nature

Join us for a chilled out, circular, stroll around Wanstead Park. The Park is a peaceful space with old trees, open grassland, woodland paths and a beautiful chain of lakes. It has history, with traces of the grand Wanstead House estate that once stood there. We'll take this time to slow down, engage and enjoy nature. We ask that you bring a specific topic you'd like to explore, or a question that's slightly unusual to the every day thinking we get caught in. Examples could be something like: * If you were to be born again, which career would you try out? * What's the best decision you made in the last year? * What is the smallest thing you could change in your life that would have the biggest positive impact right now? No need to bring the cleverest question. Come curious, open, prepared to share and ready to hear new perspectives and maybe even meet life long friends. We'll meet at the park entrance at 10.00am (see photo and map). We'll wait until 10.15am (only) in case anyone is delayed. We'll share our questions all together and then head off as a (loose) group, in pairs or threes, returning to the same park gates around 12.00pm. Access to the park entrance on Wanstead Park Road is easy by public transport, Central Line or Elizabeth Line. By joining the walk you (of course) take full responsibility for your wellbeing. We look forward to meeting you!

Walking the London Marathon, 26.5 miles, strenuous

Walking the London Marathon, 26.5 miles, strenuous

Sat, May 23, 8:30 AM
From West Kent Walking Group
4.9

We are following (as close as we can - we can't arrange road closures!) the route of the London Marathon. It is obviously a long long way but feel free to start the walk and drop out when you want to - there is no pressure on reaching the end Short breaks and lunch are factored into the timings - but the majority of the time will be walking - expect a walking pace of a little over 3 miles an hour As a rough gauge - key landmarks are Cutty Sark (6 miles), Tower Bridge (12 miles), Canary Wharf (18 miles) London Eye (25 miles). It is also worth highlighting that the route isn't scenic - it has to go along main roads as for the actual marathon it isn't a small group of people doing the route - it is 50k! And before anybody asks - the distance will be more than 26.2 miles - we have to allow extra to get from the meeting point to the start... This is a **no dog** walk. Please note that **there is a £2 payment required for non-Ramblers members** to help cover our Meetup costs. **Please help the walk leader by bringing the exact change.** Members of the Ramblers Association are welcome on any of our walks, but we would still encourage you to RSVP on Meetup. This will give our volunteer walk leaders an idea of how many are attending, and also to keep the numbers manageable. If, on the day of the walk, you are still on the waiting list and a Ramblers member, you can attend just let the walk leader know you are coming by adding a comment 'Coming as a Rambler'. You will find the start location via our website Our Walks ([westkentwalkinggroup.org.uk](http://westkentwalkinggroup.org.uk/)).
