**Event description** Join us for a scenic and adventurous hike starting at Sothease station, winding through the peaceful South Downs, and uncovering the hidden hamlet of Telscombe, tucked away from time and crowds. We’ll continue on to Peace Haven cliffs, and onto Peace Haven meridean line, then striking coastline toward Newhaven, where cliffs, sea views and a super long pier reward the journey before the pub. Expect rolling hills, secret paths, and a mix of countryside charm and coastal drama. A perfect day for nature lovers, curious wanderers, and those craving a lesser-known trail with a stunning seaside finish. Lee Green Open Studios 2026 Art Day starting with lunch.

This event is becoming one of my most popular, and if you have not been, please come if you can, you will not be disappointed. 11.45 am Meet at Hither Green station {as you come past the ticket barrier, walk down the ramp at the bottom turn right, come out of the station, where I will be waiting for you.} Lunch will be at the Station Hotel at 12pm { Please confirm you are having lunch. {For those that do not want lunch meet us at 1.30 pm outside the station hotel}. The event is called the Lee Green Open Studios, and we will visiting private homes to see art from many artists. After lunch we will start going around to the different venues, ending up back at Hither Green Station. There is also an opportunity to go into a prize draw once we have been to 10 venues. {There has been members who have brought their friends along, and 2 people in different years have won £100 to spend on the art in the artists homes.} This is also an ideal opportunity to buy Christmas presents as some members do. Every year local artists in the Lee Green area have an open house event and some people travel long distances to come and see their work. Here you can look at and buy their work, and have a glass of wine in nibbles in some houses. Through the ages, it has been home to Iron Age farmers, Romans, royalty and archbishops. From here our route leads into the tranquil woods and grasslands of the Kentish countryside, reaching **Shoreham** before following the **Darent Valley Path** into the heart of the valley. The trail takes us into the beautiful **Lullingstone Country Park**, internationally important for its collection of ancient trees. Beech, ash, oak, sweet chestnut and hornbeam all thrive here, with some specimens thought to be over 800 years old. Emerging from the woodland, we arrive at **Lullingstone Castle**, set beside its peaceful lake, before continuing to the site of **Lullingstone Roman Villa** — a rare survival of a Roman estate house first built around 100 AD. From here we continue through rolling Kent fields, rewarded with views of the impressive **Eynsford Rail Viaduct**, its nine red-brick arches towering 22 metres above the valley floor. Our hike concludes in the charming village of **Eynsford**, where we explore the evocative ruins of **Eynsford Castle**, a Norman stronghold built in 1088. Watch the sunrise in the company of other people who are up for tiny adventures. Warm up and carry on conversations in a nearby cafe afterwards. (Conversations fuelled by early morning light and coffee tend to be good ones.) **The plan:** * meet at 6:55AM at the top of **PRIMROSE HILL** * sunrise is at 7:03AM * take in the view for a little while (depending on how cold it is) * walk to a local café on Regents Park Road * warm up with coffee We meet frequently to create and sustain community. Ghosts, Hellfire Caves & Historic West Wycombe/Halloween Sunday Hike

Walk length 9miles/15km approx. Circular. A very picturesque walk from Saunderton to West Wycombe with a Halloween theme. The historic village of West Wycombe is maintained by the National Trust and features many interesting buildings built between the 16th and 18th centuries. The Mausoleum and Golden Ball above West Wycombe village are impressive local landmarks. The old village of West Wycombe and Wycombe Hill supports around 8 ghosts wandering the graveyards, caves and pubs! The hike will include a ghost walk mentioning some of the ghosts. The Hellfire Caves West Wycombe hill has been used for a quarry for centuries for roads and houses in the area and the quarrying was extended in the middle of the 18th century to help employ local workers after serious crop failures. The caves were supposed to have been used by Sir Francis Dashwood in the 18th century for his notorious Hellfire Club that may have involved Satanic or Pagan rituals but also a lot of partying! Lunch & Finish Please bring a snacks and water for the walk. The hike should finish at about 4.30pm and include a pack lunch stop, however the time may be earlier or later than this depending on the weather and pace (please don't arrange any definite evening plans). For this walk we going to have an hour and a half for the lunch stop to give everyone the chance to explore the hellfire caves should they wish. You can bring a pack lunch or visit one of the local pubs in the village or the hellfire cafe, I would suggest a pack lunch as the pubs could be busy for food and allow time to visit the caves. There are some public loos close to the caves and the village. The hike will include a ghost walk. We will go for optional drinks at the end of the walk at Saunderton, the pub is very close to the station. The final hike back to Saunderton from West Wycombe is fairly short but it may start getting dark in the woods so please bring a torch for light and to ward off any ghosts! ALTHOUGH THIS IS A SHORT HIKE IT WILL BE UNDULATING AND HILLY IN PLACES, PLEASE ENSURE YOU ARE HAPPY WITH THIS. £7 cash payable on the day guided walk & meetup costs. The Hellfire Caves are open from 11am to 4pm; as this is Halloween the caves are decorated and we may have same ghost actors wandering around. Meet outside Saunderton Rail Station for the hike to start at 11am after the train from London arrives at 10.52am (there are no facilities at Saunderton station). Train from London: The 9.53am train from London Marylebone gets to Saunderton for 10.52am. If coming from London I suggest meeting close to the WHSmiths (see photo below) from 9.30am to give you time to get tickets. Discounts available with a network railcard or a groupsave. If you get a groupsave you must travel back in small groups. The organizer will not be getting the train, but will meet you at Saunderton. FREEBIE FRIDAY Cheshunt Circular

A most wonderful 7 mile circular walk by a myriad of lakes. Using our oyster cards we shall take the train at 10.08am that arrives at Cheshunt at 10.35am. The walk shall start at 10.45am. Please bring packed lunch, water, snacks etc plus waterproof jacket and walking shoes/boots/trainers. You should be able to walk 2.5 miles per hour. Sandy Circular

A most beautiful 9 mile walk in Bedfordshire through open fields and delightful countryside ! Train : return to Sandy Please arrive by 10.25am so that we can buy the group train tickets for the 10.53am train that arrives at Sandy 11.35am. Or you may decide to drive. Meetup fee £5 payable in cash or by bank transfer in advance. You should be able to walk 2.5 miles per hour and have adequate and appropriate insurance for this type of activity. North London’s Green Corridor: Highgate, Hampstead and Ally Pally fireworks

Join us for an interesting, varied walk through North London’s historic leafy trails, culminating near Alexandra Palace, where we can stay for a glimpse of one of London’s finest November firework displays. Starting in Finsbury Park, we’ll pick up London’s longest linear nature reserve, following a former railway line and passing a folklore-inspired sculpture that has become its unofficial guardian. We’ll climb through Highgate, with its attractive village streets and famous cemetery, before reaching Parliament Hill for views across London to St Paul’s, the Shard and Westminster. We’ll cross the ponds, meadows and woodland of Hampstead Heath to Kenwood House, the elegant neoclassical villa that is home to the Iveagh Bequest and paintings by Rembrandt and Vermeer. We’ll finish by passing through Highgate Wood, a 70-acre section of the ancient Hornsey Wood, before heading towards Alexandra Palace for a well-earned drink or two and the option to stick around for the fireworks later. **NB** The event does not include entry into the official firework venue.
