Manly Beach (Short) Nite Hike. Drinks. Charity Event!

Manly Beach (Short) Nite Hike. Drinks. Charity Event!

Thu, May 7, 7:30 AM
From WE HIKE. WE WALK... to the BAR. Social Sessions in Sydney
4.9

We love Manly Beach! The hikes. The food. The margaritas! And we sure love our female hikers in our group... sure, I can be a tad overprotective of the ladies at the pub when we get loose, but what about the women that need a bit more protection, shelter, and help? Well, let's do something about it. Legend Hiker Emma refused $5 from each of us at her "We Hike... to the Pool Party" which we hiked, then she hosted. I wouldn't pocket that money, so we start with her $125... I've nudged it up to $200, so that's our donation starting point. I'd read somewhere online the Northern Beaches Women's Shelter (located in Manly) had serious funding issues, so let's raise some cash for them - Mother's Day weekend is coming up, so it's an appropriate time to do something positive for women in need. **THE HIKE.** Let's meet at Felon's Manly from 530pm to 630pm... grab a drink ($10 pints and wines, along with $15 signature cocktails 'til 6pm), and we'll do a night beach walk over the hill to Harbord Hotel Freshwater (easy bus if you need to get back to Manly Wharf). Harbord Hotel / Bombies extends their Happy Hour to us all evening, and Google tells me it's $18 schnitzel nite. GREAT! I've made a booking at Felon's Manly for 20 so we have an island to stand / sit. If you don't know me, I'll be in a white NY hat and light blue linen shirt - or message 0439 635 699. All hikers... $10 cash only. Sure, throw in more if you fancy but no pressure (electronic donations can be made directly at https://nbws.org.au/ - please write "HIKE" in the description so we can tally our total). 30 hikers at this event raises $500!!! I'll throw this out there to Manly's Facebook community, and maybe we'll get more local hikers. We'll do a money count on the nite, and Friday I'll go to the bank so 100% of funds are deposited into the NBWS account. More details coming... hope you're keen to join in! Oh, join **[WHATSAPP GROUP HERE](https://chat.whatsapp.com/CJl1FgqiOPp4dQ39llWkIN)**. It's a requirement. Friendly hug. MJ

Casual Sunday Futsal in Eveleigh ⚽️

Casual Sunday Futsal in Eveleigh ⚽️

Sun, May 10, 12:00 AM
From ❤️🏖️🎉Beach Events🏐🥘Food & Drinks🥂🍻🎉
4.8

⚽ **Want to kick off your Sunday the right way?** Looking to play futsal in Sydney? Say no more — we’ve got you covered! Join us **every Sunday at 10 AM** at South Eveleigh Sports Courts for fast-paced, good-vibes futsal. Whether you’re a seasoned baller or you’ve never touched a futsal ball before — if you love football, you’re one of us. We play on hard ground, so leave the spike boots at home (unless you enjoy sliding around like Bambi on ice ). *** **One golden rule:** Cancelling after **12 PM on Saturday** means you’re out for future games. If you say you’re coming, you’re coming. Why? Because commitment is the only “fee” we charge. No drama, no flakes — just good people and good football. If you’re cool with that, we’ll welcome you with open arms. Fair warning, though… Once you join, you’ll probably want to play every week. See you on Sunday! ⚽

Frequently asked questions

Meetup is used to connect people with shared interests, enabling them to join local groups and participate in events, both online and in-person.

Search for 'beach cleanups' on Meetup and filter by Sydney to see upcoming events. You can join groups dedicated to environmental initiatives and participate in activities.

Joining a beach cleanup helps preserve the environment and allows you to meet like-minded people passionate about protecting nature. It's a great way to contribute to sustainability efforts.

While not guaranteed every weekend, many groups schedule regular cleanups. Check the event listings often to find those that fit your schedule.

Absolutely! Joining multiple groups lets you engage in various environmental projects and lets you connect with different communities focused on preservation.

While Meetup sign-up is free, some events or groups may charge a small fee for participation. Checking event details on each Meetup page is always a good idea.

Groups in Sydney organize events based on specific interests, such as beach cleanups. Organizers set up the events, and group members RSVP and participate.

While Meetup is a great platform for meeting people, it can't guarantee friendships. Success involves active participation and openness to engaging with others.

You can host your event by creating a group on Meetup. This allows you to bring together people who share your interest in beach cleanups and environmental conservation.

Not every beach will have a cleanup event, as availability depends on group activities and organizer interest. It's best to regularly check for new events.

Cleanup events are organized by individual groups and hosts. They decide the time, location, and scope of each event, which varies widely on Meetup.

Generally, basic supplies like gloves and bags are provided, but it's wise to check each event description for specifics. Some events might suggest bringing personal items.

Yes, many groups are open to location suggestions. Engage with group organizers to propose new sites for future cleanups and help target pressing areas.

Activity levels can vary with seasons and group commitment. Participation may be more frequent in better weather, but it's always worth checking current schedules.

Some groups may host discussions or planning sessions online, but physical participation defines the actual cleanup efforts. Virtual meetups can guide future in-person activities.
