🏖️ From Viking to Margate Beach, with time on the beach & picnic time at a Botnay Bay - *one of the best sandy beaches close to London & named one of the best in the UK.* *⛱️ This is all about the sand and the sea, we will be walking up, down and around to get to many bays and beaches, that’s the idea! If you feel you’ll get bored after the second beach, then this is not for you. However, if you love the sea and proper sandy beaches, then pack your beach stuff!* *🌤️ Due to the beach time, the event is subject to good weather forecast.* 🟢 **WALK:** 📏 13km (8 miles) 💓 Av. Welcome to bring any games etc 🩳 Bring extra clothes if you're getting in the water and a small towel. ⛺ I will have a small (sealable) beach tent for our break - if anyone needs to change/adjust clothes etc. 🥏 Feel free to bring beach games. We will of course aim to play our usual Frizbattle games! 🧎 For those wanting to pray Zuhur/Asr: we can pray on the beach at rest/food time. 🏖️👣 Why not take your shoes/socks off and walk barefoot on all of the beaches! *If you are, then I would also recommend carrying some light beach sandals/slippers/crocs to use in-between some of bays - it will save time and avoid sandy shoes/socks for the longer walking parts.* ⛱️ 1. Week Day HIKE:Stunning seaside of Chichester Harbour- and a SWIM

Week Day HIKE:Stunning seaside of Chichester Harbour- and a SWIM

Wed, Aug 19, 8:30 AM
From Jon's Trails

Beach, beach, let,s go to the beach! A gorgeous sandy beach in a gorgeous area of natural outstanding beauty and one of my hikers favourites! It is Wednesday, a weekday meaning that the area and most importantely, the beach will almost be just for us! We will start the hike along the canal until we reach the marina, then along the stunning estuary which could look like paradise until we reach one of Britain's most beautiful sandy beach! West Wittering... Join me on this beautiful hike and visit both Chichester Harbour and town, a traditional English seaside town with sandy beaches, dunes and one of the most stunning nature reserves. We will visit the old town and cathedral and hike the seaside and nature reserve South of this historical place. CHICHESTER HARBOUR is a large natural harbour to the south west of the city of Chichester on the Solent. Talking about sunset, you cannot imagine the beauty of this red sky over West Wittering Sandy beach and the Solent, just mind blowing. If you have to choose a hike this year, this is the one, it has become a favourite for my hikers and is pretty flat, although quite long. It is one of four natural harbours in that area of the coastline, the others being Portsmouth Harbour, Langstone Harbour and Pagham Harbour The massive stretch of tidal flats and saltings are of outstanding ecological significance. Very large populations of wildfowl and waders use the mudflats feeding on the rich plant life and the huge populations of intertidal invertebrates. More than 7,500 Brent geese overwinter on the intertidal mud-land and adjacent farmland and around 55,000 birds reside in or visit the Harbour throughout the year. Really, those landscapes are quite unique, you will be surrounded by water and birds and the sunset is exceptional. CHICHESTER, a cathedral town in West Sussex,it is the only city in West Sussex and its county town. It was a Roman and Anglo-Saxon settlement and a major market town from those times through Norman and medieval times to the present day. It is the seat of the Church of England Diocese of Chichester, with a 12th-century cathedral. INFORMATION: Distance:13 miles/19km Difficulty:easy/medium TRAVEL: Via train We will have a short bus ride back to the station after the hike MEETING POINT: 09.30 am at London VICTORIA Station near the ticket office COST: £ 17 via Paypal £25 in cash for the train, we will get a discounted group ticket that we will buy together at the station £3.60 for a bus ticket back from West Wittering to Chichester (takes 20 min) INCLUDED: Guided hike A great time with lovely people NOT INCLUDED: Bus ticket Train ticket Anything not mentioned above WHAT TO BRING: Waterproof shoes for the hike, preferably hiking shoes, otherwise good trainers; Weather appropriate clothes, including waterproofs if there is a chance of rain; Water bottle; Packed lunch and snacks.
