🏖️ NEW Sandbanks, Bournemouth & Christchurch Harbour – Day Trip to the Seaside!
Sun, May 17, 6:45 AM################# **Explore Britain’s most stunning trails in a small group of up to 15, travelling together by private minibus to beautiful, remote locations not easily reached by public transport.** **We’ve created a list of [FAQs](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1e4VGmwhurmCng2cY3ZJHOS4j9ZlWKaX1/view?usp=sharing) to help answer your questions.** ################# Come and join us for a relaxing one-day escape from the capital to some of England’s best beaches! This trip was created specifically for the warmer weather, to combine some easy hiking and allow plenty of free time to enjoy the iconic Sandbanks and Bournemouth's beaches. These stunning beaches with wide golden sands backed by sand dunes regularly win awards as the country's top seaside destinations, including many prestigious Blue Flag awards. We’ll start the day by exploring Christchurch Harbour and Hengistbury Head Nature Reserve. After a short climb to the summit of Hengistbury Head, we'll be rewarded with fantastic views across the New Forest, the Isle of Wight and the Purbeck Hills. We'll then follow the promenade along the sandy and picturesque beaches to Bournemouth Pier, where we'll stop for lunch for one hour. Don't forget to bring your swimwear, flip flops and a beach towel if you fancy taking a refreshing dip in the sea or walking barefoot on the sand! We'll then take a short drive to the Miami-like peninsula of Sandbanks. Sandbanks has always attracted celebrities, with its multi-million-pound properties, yacht clubs and world-famous beaches. Past and present residents of Sandbanks include John Lennon, J.R.R. Tolkien, Rick Stein, Liam Gallagher and many others! A Walk to the Sea (15 or 17 miles) - Hassocks to Brighton
Sat, May 16, 8:15 AMWhat better way that a walk may end, than to shed boots for the final steps into animating surf. This walk crosses the South Downs to finish at the sea. And there's a choice of arrival at Brighton: one can walk a final mile or so along the seafront; or enter the city in style aboard the oldest operating electric railway in the world - Volk's 1883 railway! On 16th May 1881, the first electric tram service opened to the public built by Siemens, running from Berlin-Lichterfelde to the Prussian military academy. Two years later, Magnus Volk brought the technology here, and it's still going strong 140 years later 🤗🚊🚃 Outward Travel: The train departing 9:35 AM from London Bridge arrives at Hassocks 10.32 AM. Buy a return ticket to BRIGHTON. The return train fare from Thameslink London terminals with a Network Card or GroupSave is £12.10. People gather outside the ticket office to arrange group tickets and the organiser will be in attendance from 9.15 AM. However arrive earlier if you wish Walk start: 10:35 AM from HASSOCKS rail station. Bring a packed lunch. The walk length is 15 miles, or 17 miles without the electric train (single fare £5.40). https://volksrailway.org.uk/ *How to join?* * The walk is entirely free of charge; * You only arrange for your own travel and pub expenses; * Understand our terms and conditions below (the "IMPORTANT" part); * Understand how to stay safe outdoors, as you will be responsible for yourself. See our quick safety tips: http://www.meetup.com/Free-Outdoor-Trips-From-London/about/ *What to bring* * Plenty of water, 1-2 litres recommended * Enough snacks and packed lunch to keep you energized along the walk * Extra snacks and an extra packed lunch just in case * Rainproof (ideally waterproof) clothing, sturdy shoes/boots you don't mind getting muddy * Spare socks * Walking poles and/or an umbrella :-) * Yourself... * ...and your camera! * Cash for train ticket * Cash for pub at the end of the walk? Feel free to ask any questions in the comments section! IMPORTANT Please bear in mind this is a free of charge, self-guided trip with a hobby group. It is not organized by a business nor any entity with commercial purposes. Any trip details, travel advice, route planning, instructions and other content in our group merely represent our shared personal knowledge, research and suggestions as outdoor enthusiasts. As this is no business, there is no "product", "service" or "package" and also no "tour guide", "operator" or "walk leader". Each participant is responsible for their own safety. Even if some of us are very experienced walking outdoors, nobody assumes responsibility for any kind of injury, damage or loss that may happen. Despite this, we take extreme precautions and all trips we plan are very safe, fun, highly educational and popular. Our experienced members volunteer their time and effort to shape a pleasant and quality adventure for everyone :-) By participating you acknowledge and agree with this disclaimer. Here are our tips on staying safe during outdoor trips: http://www.meetup.com/Free-Outdoor-Trips-From-London/about/ TRAVEL, ACCOMMODATION, INSURANCE Although we provide detailed suggestions, each participant is expected to arrange their own travel - this gives everyone the freedom and choice. Anyone interested in travel or outdoor insurance should also arrange this on their own. As mentioned above we always take extreme precautions, but some people may still feel safer if covered. As most of our trips are confirmed or postponed very close to the event date - heavily depending on the weather forecasts - we advise not to buy this until the last minute. People getting tickets from the same station are encouraged to meet early on the day to benefit from discounts such as GroupSave.

For All Levels of Korean Speakers and Learners
Fri, May 15, 6:30 PMSpeakers of English and Korean unite! Language exchange focused meetup at a pub venue in a very central London location. For a map of the location, see the website of the bar linked in the venue details given here. People at any level of Korean (and English) are welcome at this Meetup. Complete beginners wanting to explore learning Korean also welcome. Participants come from the UK, Korea and many other countries. This will be an opportunity to informally study and practice Korean and/or English, and help others with their Korean and/or English in return. It is also a good chance to chat to others with interests in and links to Korea. We'd also be very grateful if attendees could buy at least one drink (soft/alcoholic) at the bar to ensure that we continue to be welcomed at this venue. We look forward to seeing you all there, **To avoid disappointment, please book your place before you come.** About this Meetup Group (http://korean.meetup.com/142/about/)
