The seals in Norfolk are truly one of **Britain's most special sights**. Without any doubt, they're an incredible WOW factor and one that you must see! On this day hike, we'll walk along the top of the sand dunes and enjoy stunning panoramic views across the North Sea. On our way, we'll pass the much-loved **Atlantic** **grey seal colony at Horsey Beach**, which draws thousands of visitors each year, particularly between November and March, when the seals come ashore to breed. There are literally **hundreds and hundreds of seals and their pups** stretching for as far as the eye can see! The whole walk is in the **Broads National Park** – one of fifteen national parks in the UK. You'll discover its iconic windmills, navigable waterways and broads (man-made, shallow lakes). With over 125 miles of lock-free waterways, the Norfolk Broads have more miles of waterway than Venice or Amsterdam, and are an extremely popular boating holiday destination! Locals like to call the Broads “the Venice of the East”. 💪 This walk is **suitable for all abilities** – it is almost entirely flat and done at a very gentle pace to allow us enjoy the nature and take plenty of pictures. **HIKE HIGHLIGHTS** * Watch seals and their young from a close distance at Horsey Gap, home to one of the biggest colonies of grey seals in Britain. * Take a gentle stroll over the vast open expanse of the golden sand dunes of Winterton Beach – a Nature Reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest. The area is a veritable haven for birds and all kinds of wildlife and is widely regarded as having the best sand dunes in Norfolk. * See the spectacular Horsey Windpump – the youngest and largest windpump in the Norfolk Broads. It was built in 1912 to pump water out from the surrounding land so that it could be used for farming. * Discover Horsey Mere, often regarded as one of the most beautiful of the northern broads and famous for its internationally important wildlife. * Walk the newly opened stretch of the England Coast Path – a new National Trail around all of England's coast, which once completed will be the longest coastal walking route in the world (4,500 kilometres in length!). **DISTANCE & DIFFICULTY** Distance: 6 miles (10km). Wallasea Island and Pagelsham Eastend River Crouch stunning walk

Lets go with the flow and do this wonderful 10 to 11 mile walk in deepest Essex along the idyllic remote River Roach ! A delightful tranquil peaceful almost surreal walk in open countryside that is mostly by the sea wall taking in wonderful Wallasea Island. Please arrive by 9am so as to facilitate the purchase of group return train tickets to Rochford for the train at 9.33am that arrives at Rochford at 10.21am. Train ticket : Rochford return Or you may decide to drive. At Rochford we shall take bus no 60 at 10.48am to Canewdon from where we shall start the walk. Meetup fee £10 payable in cash or £7 in advance by Friday by bank transfer, bank details available upon private message. No PayPal. Please bring packed lunch, water, snacks etc plus waterproof jacket and walking shoes/ trainers/boots. You should be able to walk 2.5 miles per hour and have adequate and appropriate insurance for this type of activity. We shall have a drink at the end of the walk and then take the bus back to Rochford from Pagelsham Eastend at 4.47pm before taking the train back to London. **DESCRIPTION** Join us for a relaxed social hike through some of East London's most interesting green spaces, waterside paths and historic docklands, finishing with an exclusive axe-throwing session overlooking the Thames. We'll begin outside the V&A East in Stratford before making our way through the beautiful landscapes of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, exploring the waterways, bridges and iconic venues left behind from the London 2012 Olympics. From there, we'll continue to Victoria Park, one of London's most loved green spaces, before taking a stroll through the lively Victoria Park Market. We'll stop at a beach-style riverside bar where there's an opportunity to relax, grab a drink and enjoy the atmosphere before continuing our journey. The route then heads south through the Docklands, passing historic canals, striking modern architecture and impressive waterfront views. We'll follow the Thames Path towards Tower Hamlets/Towhill, enjoying panoramic views across the river as we approach our final destination. ## The Grand Finale: Axe Throwing!
