Exploring The Inner Commons - workshop, personal sustainability

From Sustainability Events Berlin * Projects-People-Organizations

Talk & Workshop - **Exploring The Inner Commons** a deep dive into personal sustainability by Scott Bolden, Founder of Baumhaus Berlin Workshop from 18:30 - 20:00 If you really want to make the world a better place then a great place is to start with yourself because no matter where you go or what you do, you can not escape yourself... Besides, doesn't it make sense that a truly sustainable society would be composed of more balanced individuals? **The Inner Commons is an intuitively understandable, flexible and contextual framework** developed by Scott Bolden that can be used to catalyze a process of self understanding and resolving common issues we all deal with. The concepts discussed in this workshop are based on simple, root level, universal experiences of the human condition and a bit of common sense. Because of this, insights that participants gain about themselves can also provide insights to understanding and resolving issues with others as well. Requirements: comfortable clothing, a notebook and an open mind... Please confirm participation with a short email to info@baumhausberlin.de with the subject: Inner Commons Donate-as-you-feel after the workshop (includes coffee, tea, water & snacks) We ask participants to consider: • their personal budget • the value of their experiences during the workshop in the Baumhaus • the value of supporting the Baumhaus so that we can continue facilitating these and various other types of experiences \-\-\-\-\- support Baumhaus crowdfunding campaign ( https://www.goodcrowd.org/saving-das-baumhaus ) Baumhaus Berlin Gerichtstr. 23 VH Eg 13347 Berlin

The TMOD also introduces the key roles and functionaries for that session. **Prepared Speeches:** A significant portion of the meeting is dedicated to prepared speeches. Members working through various projects in the Toastmasters education program deliver speeches based on their chosen projects. Each speech is evaluated by a designated evaluator who provides feedback on strengths and areas for improvement. **Table Topics:** Table Topics is a segment where impromptu speaking skills are tested. The Table Topics Master presents a series of short, unprepared speaking challenges or questions, and members or guests are invited to come to the podium and give a brief, improvised response. **Evaluations:** Following the prepared speeches and Table Topics segment, evaluators provide constructive feedback to speakers. These evaluations focus on content, delivery, body language, and time management. The goal is to help speakers improve their speaking skills. **Reports and Functionary Roles:** The meeting may include various functionary roles, such as the Timer, Grammarian, Ah-Counter, and others, who report on their observations and contributions to the session. These roles help members improve their language and time management skills. **General Evaluator:** The General Evaluator provides an overall assessment of the meeting, highlighting what went well and offering suggestions for improvement. They may also evaluate the evaluators' performance. **Awards and Recognitions:** Toastmasters sessions often conclude with awards and recognitions, including the Best Speaker, Best Evaluator, and Best Table Topics Speaker. These awards encourage members to strive for excellence in their speaking and leadership abilities. **Closing:** The meeting concludes with closing remarks from the Toastmaster of the Day, who may express gratitude to participants and encourage them to continue their Toastmasters journey. **Networking and Socialising:** After the formal meeting, members and guests often have the opportunity to network, socialise, and discuss their experiences in a more relaxed setting. Even at the S-Bahn station, the eye is drawn to the historic industrial building of the Alte Mälzerei , a former malt factory that was recently transformed into an inclusive urban quarter. From the station, we walk through a residential area to the southern section of the Wall Trail. As in the previous section, the path leads us along the city’s edge for long stretches through the open countryside in southern Berlin. The former patrol road of the GDR border troops is still partially preserved here; some of the lampposts that once illuminated the border strip are also still standing. Even from a distance, the distinctive silhouette of Gropiusstadt announces the end point of our hike. **What’s Village Outdoor?** Village outdoor Events are monthly meetups for the we are village community and their friends to enjoy outdoor activities in and around Berlin. Each month features a free and easy walk or hike in Berlin or its surrounding areas, accessible by public transport. **General Information** **Meeting point**: 11:00 AM, Lichtenrade S-Bahn station (S2) on the platform **Route length:** approx. 12 km (approx. 4 hours) **Return**: Lipschitzallee U-Bahn station (U7) **Language:** we’ll speak English and/or German, depending on the needs of the group. **Cost**: free event with registration *\*\* This event is part of the we are village program ‘****[Belonging versus Lonelliness](https://wearevillage.org/village-quartiere/addressing-queer-lonliness)****‘, with the support of the* ***[LADS](https://www.berlin.de/sen/lads/en/)****.
