A most delightful and beautiful walk of around 6.5/7 miles following the Regents Canal into Victoria Park and then the Hertford Canal to the various waterways of the Olympic Park in Stratford. This walk takes us into the heart of the **Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty**, beginning at **Tring Station**. We’ll start gently along the **Grand Union Canal**, passing through Dixon’s Gap and the old **Wilstone Step Locks**, before looping around **Marston Vale Nature Reserve** – a peaceful spot loved by birdwatchers. From there we’ll follow the brook into Tring and pick up the ancient **Icknield Way**, often called Britain’s oldest road. The trail soon opens up into **Tring Park**, once landscaped by Lord Rothschild. It’s a quirky place with sweeping lawns, hidden follies and woodland paths. Back in the 1880s, Rothschild even filled the park with exotic animals – imagine giraffes and kangaroos roaming the English countryside! We finish by joining the **Ridgeway National Trail**, winding back towards Tring for our train home. Today we are incredibly fortunate to have an opportunity to see the work of the Italian artist Caravaggio. We will discuss his life and his art before visiting the Wallace Collection to see Caravaggio's Cupid, entry is free. Then we'll head out to apply chiaroscuro and shoot high contrast images. Caravaggio adopted *chiaroscuro* in his paintings in the 16th century- his work beautifully combines a realistic view of the human state- physical and emotional- with a dramatic use of lighting. *Chiaroscuro* is an Italian term referencing the contrast of light (chiar) and dark (oscuro) to model three-dimensional forms. Hi Ladies! Let's hike from the Dublin Rec center to the Dublin Nature Preserve and Arboretum and back. The hike will be approximately 4.5 miles total. The trail goes through small parks and neighborhoods and is 100% paved paths so please wear appropriate shoes. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early if you need to go restroom in Rec center.

First Sundays are free admission at Franklin Park Conservatory. Sunday, January 4th, is also the last day The Palm House will be open before renovations begin.
