๐ฌSouth African Sardine Run - 1 WEEK INSIDE A NATURE DOCUMENTARY ๐
**1 week of an exclusive, small-group ocean expedition for freedivers, photographers, and wildlife enthusiasts! If you love the ocean, this trip is for you.**
Each year, the waters off South Africaโs Wild Coast transform into one of the planetโs most dramatic natural events. Billions of sardines migrate along the Wild Coast, making it one of the largest animal migrations on the planet. It attracts a diverse range of predators, from dolphins and sharks to whales and seabirds - all converging in a feeding spectacle few ever witness up close.
The Sardine Run remains one of the most spectacular events on earth. Each day, ocean conditions, currents, and predator behavior determine what youโll encounter. Youโll spend your days following the pulse of the sea - sometimes waiting, sometimes immersed in pure chaos and raw nature beauty.
We partner with a trusted local dive operator with extensive experience running ocean expeditions along the Wild Coast. Their skilled skippers, dive crews, and wildlife spotters bring a deep understanding of the areaโs conditions and marine life, ensuring safety, precision, and ethical wildlife encounters.

FREE SUNDAY HIKE - Viaduct, River, Castle & Lavender: A Darent Valley Loop
Looking for a Sunday that feels like a soft slice of summer? Join us for a beautiful 12โ15 km loop through the Darent Valley, where riverside paths, rolling green fields, and blooming lavender come together in one of Kent's most charming landscapes.
This valley has been shaped by centuries of life and travel, and you feel it as soon as you step onto the trail. We'll pass beneath the towering arches of the Eynsford Viaduct, a Victorian engineering landmark that has carried trains across the valley since the 1860s. Further along, the route brushes past the historic grounds of Lullingstone Castle, a Tudor manor once visited by Henry VIII and home to the Hart Dyke family for over 500 years.
From there, the path opens into the quiet lanes of Shoreham village and the purple shimmer of the lavender fields drifting across the hillsides.
As we move through meadows, woodlands, and open countryside, the day settles into that easy summer rhythm where everything feels unhurried and lightly golden.
It's the kind of walk where the scenery does the talking: the river winding beside us, the scent of lavender in the warm air, and the countryside unfolding in soft greens and purples โ a Sunday that feels sun-warmed, peaceful, and just a little bit dreamy.
We will head to a pub near the station when we finish for a pint or/and lunch.

Thames Foreshore Visit - Limekiln Dock (Full Members only)
Running through the heart of London; the River Thames has played a central role in the history of the city, and when the tide is low, the capitalโs longest archaeological site is revealed.
Come along on Sunday 5th July to explore its history!
**About the foreshore**
I will be your guide as we will be going down to the Thames foreshore at low tide and walking along the foreshore, where we will have about 1h 30mins to have a look around for objects before the tide comes in. Where we are going is an old dock that leads onto the foreshore.
I will tell you more about foreshore, the industry in the area and will be on hand to identify and date objects you find. Most objects you can spot sitting on the foreshore after being washed in on the tide (its eyes only, we are not allowed to dig or scrape the foreshore surface).
You will find everything from bits of pottery, clay pipes, bottles, animal bones to ship items. Most of the things we find are from the Medieval to the Victorian period or you might be lucky and find something Roman or older.
We should be finished by 12noon.
**The Thames Foreshore is private land, so before we go down, I have to give everyone a short talk on health & safety on the foreshore. As per the conditions of my group permit, you will need to be present for this, if you are late, I won't be able to accommodate you.**
**Footwear**
The foreshore is very stony, but can be muddy in places, so please wear sensible shoes (preferably walking boots/shoes or wellington boots). Plastic gloves and bags will be provided.
**Payment**
This is for Full Members of the group only and will be free.

IxDA Chat n Pancakes
You can sleep in on the Semiquincentennial (observed), weโre shifting to the following Friday.
But join the local UX community for a chat and some biscuits to catch up. If you were in CA for Figma Config, tell us all the lines and you can tell me how I can animate an SVG without coding it by hand, and why Iโd even want to.
Thanks to the team at Nationwide of supporting the group.
The Sparrow - Mary Doria Russell
Join us for The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell
In 2019, humanity finally finds proof of extraterrestrial life when a listening post in Puerto Rico picks up exquisite singing from a planet that will come to be known as Rakhat. While United Nations diplomats endlessly debate a possible first contact mission, the Society of Jesus quietly organizes an eight-person scientific expedition of its own. What the Jesuits find is a world so beyond comprehension that it will lead them to question what it means to be "human".

[Undercurrent Bastille Day Festival - A Taste of Paris in Downtown Columbus Tickets, Sunday, July 12 โข 12 PM - 4 PM | Eventbrite](https://www.eventbrite.com/e/undercurrent-bastille-day-festival-a-taste-of-paris-in-downtown-columbus-tickets-1988784103791)
This Outdoor Festival takes place at 66 North High Street, right next to the New Chouette French Restaurant.
From the Eventbrite Page:
"Transport yourself to the streets of Paris without leaving downtown Columbus! Join us for an authentic French celebration of Bastille Day in a vibrant street festival atmosphere. Experience the true joie de vivre with an afternoon filled with French culture, cuisine, and community."
There will be Live Music, French Food, Art and Artisan Shops to explore!
Parking is widely available in the Downtown Area at parking spaces on High Street and the surrounding area. I usually just park by the Old Fire Station on 4th Street and walk over to High Street. There are usually plenty of spaces available and the cost is only about $3.00 to $5.00.
We will arrive at 1 PM with several hours to explore the festival.
We will meet just inside of the Festival, next to the Chouette Restaurant.
Thanks and hope to see you come out!
