DCC's "Monday Moves" City Tour to DC Monuments and Points of Interest Join DCC and Conte’s Bike Shop (Navy Yard) for a fun 20 mile ride to the Capitol, Hains Point, Jefferson Memorial, FDR Memorial, MLK, Jr. Memorial, National Park Services Stables, Korean War Veterans Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, World War II Memorial, Monument, DC Wharf, Titanic Memorial, Frederick Douglas Memorial Bridge, Morris Road Overlook. This ride will be geared towards our newer riders (with a chill pace and no one left behind), but all are welcomed. This ride will be on the streets, trails and sidewalks. We will go over things to help riders become more comfortable with riding in groups. We will meet at Conte’s Navy Yard Bike Shop at 10 am and depart at 10:15. All riders should bring their own hydration and nutrition, as well as a spare inner tube. *** Please, no music that can be heard by other riders or ear headphones that impede your hearing. Parking is limited at the Navy Yard, so for those driving, an option is to park at Anacostia Park (aquatic center) and take 11th street bridge to M Street, then a left on 4th. ****all riders ride at their own risk**** If there is a chance of inclement weather expected on Monday, a cancelation notice will be posted by 9:00 pm on Sunday; otherwise, the ride will take place. Join us for another lowkey writing session! Bring your laptop, iPad, or notebook so that you can get some words down! We will start around 6:00 as people filter in. Writing, chatting, and casual introductions will go on until 6:30 as people arrive and grab food and drinks, when we will do a round-table to introduce ourselves, our genres and writing styles, and what we are looking for from the group. After that, we can buckle down to do some writing and make ourselves be productive! I will try to snag the big community table to the right of the registers at Tatte, or sit against the back wall with a couple of tables pulled together, so you can look for me there. I'll post in the comments when I arrive, so feel free to check there or message me if you are feeling lost or having difficulty finding the group. I'll look forward to meeting you all! Our next workshop will take place on the Monday following this one, so look forward to that, as well!

The last planetarium event went so well let's see a different show. This one is called Stars Tonight. The show brings out the telescope to see the night sky: https://www.apsva.us/planetarium/weekend-programming Tickets are $5 and can only be bought with cash at the door. The show starts at 7:30 but let's meet up at Tortas Y Tacos La Chiquita lll in Arlington beforehand. It isn’t Star Wars themed but that won’t stop us from celebrating Star Wars Day. Free Parking: I attached a picture of a map that shows where some free street parking is. * N Nelson St on the East side of Quincy Park * N Stafford St on the West Side of Washington-Liberty High School * There are a few free street parking spots on N Quincy St across from the planetarium * In addition, the planetarium has a parking lot Metro is also an option. We are between the Ballston and Virginia Square metro stations. The David M Brown Planetarium is at 1426 N Quincy St, Arlington, VA 22207 right around the corner from Tortas Y Tacos La Chiquita lll.

Please join us for our fun and friendly monthly VSDC Vegan Potluck in Arlington VA on Sunday, May 10th. It will start at 6 pm and will go until 10 pm. There is no charge to attend the event. ***\*\*Note: you must provide your 1st and last name plus your contact email to receive the specific location. If you do not, then you will not be provided the location and allowed to this event - NO EXCEPTIONS.\*\**** We plan to meet and eat on the rooftop of the host’s apartment building; grills may be available for our use. **Items to bring to the potluck:** \- Vegan potluck dish \(no animal products of any kind\) to share\. Please join us for the first ride of 2026 from Bethesda to Hains Point and back. We will be starting from the [Park and Ride for Capital Crescent](https://maps.app.goo.gl/BKo6KKeexQPENXHEA) trail in Bethesda. The meeting spot provides ample free car parking, and also it is convenient to get to from Bethesda Metro. Going to Georgetown will be a piece of cake (it is downhill). Coming back we will be digesting the cakes we eat. Before signing up, please make sure you will be able to sustain at least 10 mph average speed for this lengthy ride. Join us for the Columbus Animal Advocates spring social at Goodale Park! We'll be sharing delicious vegan cookout dishes, playing games, and socializing. Come out to meet CAA, learn more about what they do, relax, and enjoy the beautiful spring weather with other animal lovers.🐷🐮🌱 Just bring yourself, some friends, some lawn chairs, outdoor games if you want, and an appetite! The food was so good last time 😋 If you want to bring a vegan dish to share, you are welcome to, but it's not required. We'll meet at The Capital One Café, 167 Easton Town Center, Space A-103. This is in the main mall where the Microsoft store used to be, on your left if you're standing at the bottom of the AMC Theater escalator. Join us on Saturday for an hour of uninterrupted wordmaking! • What we'll do Join us for an hour of writing! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you at 10AM on Saturday mornings. Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done. SCHEDULE: 10:00 - SESSION 1: quick intros. 10:10 - timer starts: write for 1 hour. 11:10 - chat / take off / keep writing. OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens at 11A-11:30ish. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing. BEING LATE IS OKAY: just show up and get settled, then check-in with me after the session.
