What we're about
This group aims to bring together anyone in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area interested in legal innovation, technology, and process improvements that can transform how legal services are provided, increase access to justice, and foster legal startups. We are open to lawyers, judges, business people, coders, web developers, academics, and anyone curious about legal technology and innovation.
Our goals include tackling current issues with the legal system, promoting the creation of legal technology solutions, and building community across disciplines. The Dallas/Ft. Worth area is a growing hub of innovative businesses and leaders, and we aim to transfer that forward-thinking perspective into the legal profession.
We plan to meet about once a month with three to five presentations lasting 15 to 20 minutes each. The topics will include innovative ways attorneys can provide better and more cost-effective legal services in any and all areas of the practice of law. For instance, presentations could cover the application of the latest technologies, such as blockchain and A.I.-powered software and platforms, as well as ways to better organize and run a law practice through better business design, prototyping, and lean value stream mapping. Feel free to contact the Meetup organizers to suggest a topic.
A long term goal of the Meetup Group is to facilitate hosting the Global Legal Hackathon (https://globallegalhackathon.com/) in a city within the DFW area in February 2019. The first Global Legal Hackathon took place in spring 2018. One of the keynote speakers, Jordan Furlong, gave a brief presentation that summarizes nicely the state of the legal profession and the need for Meetups like this one. Thank you for taking time to get to know us and we look forward to your contributions to the group.
