If all stay in sharing dorms in these huts, if you want individual room, please let us know before. Take a day trip to Dresden's most beautiful wine terrace, facing out across the Elbe visiting palaces, walking through vineyards, and tasting some of the best local wines. Hike Distance: 10km Difficulty: Intermediate Visit the historic and beautiful district of Pilitz, on the outskirts of Dresden. The day’s adventure will combine hiking through vineyards, visiting spectacular palaces and wine terraces, while enjoying views across the magnificent Elbe. The tour of Pilnitz will take you through the old palace and gardens, before journeying along the region's famed Saxon Wine Route. Along the way, we'll visit multiple wineries, enjoying wine and cake along the river, before visiting the award-winning Weingut Klaus Zimmerling. The hike is a casual 10km trek, with steep inclines and stunning views. This is a trip for anyone who loves nature and adores wine. The tour will be led by travel author and guide Dan Cole, author of the leading hiking guide Weinwandern Deutschland. Join me this Sunday for a sightseeing hike through the Garden Kingdom of Dessau-Wörlitz 🌱, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its English-style landscape parks and historic buildings 🏛️. **Route & Pace** We will hike a 9 km loop through the park. We will take one ~10-minute restroom stop early in the route. * **Lunch:** Halfway through, we will take a 45-minute break at the Gothic House for a picnic. **Bring your own food and drinks.** * **Remainder of the day:** We will hike for about 1 hour, then have about 2.5 hours of free time at the Gondola Station. You can use this time to purchase a boat tour ticket, visit the castle interiors, or get coffee. *Take a day trip to Bohemian Switzerland, have lunch at the Pravcicka Gate, hike across the border into Germany, and finish the day hike at one of the country's best breweries.* Hike Distance: 13km Difficulty: Intermediate This breathtaking day hike from Berlin takes you from the misty river canyon of Hrensko in Czechia straight to the crown jewel of the Bohemian and Saxon Switzerland national parks. Moving through towering sandstone columns, pristine pine forests, and across international borders, this route combines dramatic geological wonders with a fresh, cross-border perspective. First, we visit the awe-inspiring Pravčická Brána, Europe’s largest natural sandstone arch. Here we will enjoy traditional Czech cuisine, looking over the valley below. From the Gate, the route takes advantage of the newly opened hiking path into Saxon Switzerland (Germany), through the sandstone formations and into the village of Schmilka, where we will enjoy traditional beers at a Saxon brewery, before crossing the Elbe and catching the train home. Once we are done, we are off to explore Rovaniemi and surroundings followed by dinner and then we are off Northern lights hunting. **Day 3 - Roadtrip Finnish Lapland + Northern lights hunting** Post checkout, we drive from Rovaniemi to Karigasniemi one of Northern Europe’s most iconic Arctic road trips, covering roughly 450 km (280 miles) of shifting boreal forests, open fells, and Sámi heartland. **Day 4 - Roadtrip to Northcape + Northern Lights hunting** Post breakfast, we are off on a road trip to North cape. During the road trip we would be making a few stops along the way to see some of the cute fishing villages. At the north cape, we checkout the museum and the amazing views offered from the visitor centre. On the way back, we stop for dinner in a town along the way and then post dinner we are off Northern hunting on the way back to Finland. **Day 5 - Roadtrip to Rovaniemi + Northern lights hunting** Journeying along Finland’s western corridor shifts the landscape from open frontier tundra into vast taiga forests and alpine fell country. Experience the transition from raw, open Arctic tundra near the Norwegian border into the tall pine forests and round-topped fells (tunturi) of western Lapland. The stretch passing through Pokka offers some of the quietest driving in Europe, giving you a sense of solitude surrounded by untouched wilderness. **Day 6 - Goodbye & See you in a future trip** Check out of the accommodation and head to the airport and say our goodbyes before heading back to our respective homes. We begin with a boat experience through the natural sea tunnel connecting the Mediterranean Sea with the **Inland Sea**. Afterwards, we continue on foot along the spectacular coastline towards **Xlendi**. Join me this Saturday for a sightseeing hike to Berlin‘s annual Festival of Giant Kites 🪁, a fun open-air spectacle at Tempelhofer Feld! Doesn’t matter if you are new to Berlin or not, this is a great opportunity to make new connections and take pictures while walking by some of Berlin’s highlights before the festival. **Route & Pace** We will hike a 10.4 km route starting from the East Side Gallery. [[This is the route we will follow.]](https://www.komoot.com/tour/3270152225?ref=itd&share_token=aem05VR8X5WObojM0NUEBjV9Xvg8wb2KpM2aTLbbMe3FnOCCsr&ref=its&t_s=referral&t_cid=route_share&t_ref_username=6156612270392) The pace will be steady, with dedicated 2-5 minutes photo stops at the major landmarks and viewpoints along the trail, such as the Molecule Man and Treptower Park. **Meeting point and time** **10:30** AM: We meet outside Ostbahnhof and start the trail. **Highlights covered** * **East Side Gallery: We start by walking by this historic open-air gallery.** * **Osthafen & Elsenbrücke: We will walk south along the Spree for iconic vantage points and photos of the 30-meter-tall Molecule Man sculpture.** * **Treptower Park & Karpfenteich: We will stroll through the park paths.** * **Neukölln Ship Canal & Rathaus Neukölln: We will follow the scenic canal paths into Neukölln and passing by the historic town hall.** * **Tempelhofer Feld (The Festival!): We arrive at the airfield for the main highlight of the day. Grab street food from the stalls or unpack your own picnic while watching gigantic kites (some up to 50 meters long) fill the sky alongside live music and flying demonstrations. You are free to explore or stay as long as you'd like (the festival runs until 8:00 PM).** **Breaks** We will take a 15 min break in the middle of the hike ⚠️ **A Quick Note on Schedules & Independence:** This is a casual community meetup rather than a formal guided tour.
