If all stay in sharing dorms in these huts, if you want individual room, please let us know before. Explore one of Dresden's best wine terraces, hiking from winery to winery. Take a day trip to Dresden's most beautiful wine terrace, facing out across the Elbe visiting palaces, walking through vineyards, and tasting some of the best local wines. Hike Distance: 10km Difficulty: Intermediate Visit the historic and beautiful district of Pilitz, on the outskirts of Dresden. The day’s adventure will combine hiking through vineyards, visiting spectacular palaces and wine terraces, while enjoying views across the magnificent Elbe. The tour of Pilnitz will take you through the old palace and gardens, before journeying along the region's famed Saxon Wine Route. Along the way, we'll visit multiple wineries, enjoying wine and cake along the river, before visiting the award-winning Weingut Klaus Zimmerling. The hike is a casual 10km trek, with steep inclines and stunning views. This is a trip for anyone who loves nature and adores wine. The tour will be led by travel author and guide Dan Cole, author of the leading hiking guide Weinwandern Deutschland. Dan has also worked previously for Lonely Planet, Easyjet Magazine, and Lufthansa, and has several published travel guides about Berlin and beyond. Join me for a sightseeing hike through the Garden Kingdom of Dessau-Wörlitz 🌱, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its English-style landscape parks and historic buildings 🏛️. **Route & Pace** We will hike a 9 km loop through the park. We will take one ~10-minute restroom stop early in the route. * **Lunch:** Halfway through, we will take a 45-minute break at the Gothic House for a picnic. **Bring your own food and drinks.** * **Remainder of the day:** We will hike for about 1 hour, then have about 2.5 hours of free time at the Gondola Station. You can use this time to purchase a boat tour ticket, visit the castle interiors, or get coffee. Everyone meets at the market square at 16:45 to take the 15-minute walk back to Wörlitz Station. **Travel Connections** * **Outbound:** Take the RE7 train departing Berlin-Charlottenburg at 08:20. *Take a day trip to Bohemian Switzerland, have lunch at the Pravcicka Gate, hike across the border into Germany, and finish the day hike at one of the country's best breweries.* Hike Distance: 13km Difficulty: Intermediate This breathtaking day hike from Berlin takes you from the misty river canyon of Hrensko in Czechia straight to the crown jewel of the Bohemian and Saxon Switzerland national parks. Moving through towering sandstone columns, pristine pine forests, and across international borders, this route combines dramatic geological wonders with a fresh, cross-border perspective. First, we visit the awe-inspiring Pravčická Brána, Europe’s largest natural sandstone arch. Here we will enjoy traditional Czech cuisine, looking over the valley below. From the Gate, the route takes advantage of the newly opened hiking path into Saxon Switzerland (Germany), through the sandstone formations and into the village of Schmilka, where we will enjoy traditional beers at a Saxon brewery, before crossing the Elbe and catching the train home.
