Hike in a forest: Zum Teufelsbruch

Hi everyone! Hiking season is already in full swing, and with the end of May likely to be quite warm, I thought it would be a good idea to head into the forest. This time, we’ll be hiking in Teufelsbruch, near Hennigsdorf in Brandenburg, north of Berlin. We’ll meet on Sunday, May 31st, at 10:00 am at Friedrichstraße station, on the lower platform for the S1, S2, and S25 lines. From there, we’ll take the S25 towards Hennigsdorf, change to a bus, and continue to Nieder Neuendorf. The journey should take around 45 minutes, and that’s where our hike will begin. Our route will follow the banks of the Havel River until we reach Bürgerablage, a public beach area (though we won’t be swimming). From there, we’ll head into the forest and continue towards Teufelsbruch, a beautiful moorland area. We can visit a tower of the former Berlin Wall. We’ll then make our way towards Rohpfuhl, another moor, walk roughly around it, and finally return to Nieder Neuendorf. From there, we’ll take the bus back to Hennigsdorf and then the train back to Berlin. The hike is a bit longer than usual — around 16 km — and will take approximately 4 hours. Please make sure you have an ABC ticket for public transport, and remember to bring enough water, snacks, and food. We’ll make a short break along the way to eat and rest. Monschau exudes with history, architecture & romance. * **Hiking in the Eifel Region:** This region was shaped by volcanic activity and although the last volcano erupted about 10,000 years ago, evidence of the Eifel’s turbulent past can be seen in the crater lakes, called maars, that pepper the Vulkaneifel landscape. The region also boasts some of the loveliest fairy tale towns and medieval castles in the country. * **Short Guided tour of Aachen:** Aachen is known for its history and culture, as well as its thermal springs and spa. The city was the preferred residence of Charlemagne, and was the place where **31 Holy Roman Emperors** were crowned Kings of the Germans. It's also famous for **Aachen Cathedral**, a **UNESCO World Heritage Site**, which was built in the 8th century and is considered one of the most important examples of Carolingian architecture. * **Aachen Cathedral:** Aachen Cathedral was the very first site to be granted **UNESCO World Heritage** status in Germany, and with good reason: built in around 790 to 800, the cathedral is of world importance in terms of the history of art and architecture, and is one of the great examples of church architecture. Wir starten am 22.05.26 um 23:28 in Berlin mit dem ICE 905 Richtung Süden. Nach dem Umstieg in München um 7:06 (RE61/RE62) erreichen wir Garmisch-Partenkirchen am 23.05.26 um 8:24. Von Garmisch-Partenkirchen gehen wir am Eibsee spazieren. Danach erleben Adrenalin bei der Flying Fox Zip-Line ([https://flyingfox-gap.de](https://flyingfox-gap.de)). Im Anschluss wenn es noch Zeit übrig bleibt, erkunden wir gemeinsam Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Am Sonntag wandern wir 23 km durch das Reintal auf die Zugspitze (8–10 Stunden) und fahren um 16:30 mit der letzten Seilbahn zurück. Am Montag geht es um 8:02 weiter ins Ötztal (Ankunft 9:59). Gegen 12:00 folgt eine Canyoning-Tour durch beeindruckende Schluchten. Wir übernachten flexibel im Zelt. Along the way, we’ll encounter old, sometimes dilapidated, mills that tell tales of bygone eras. Idyllic bathing spots invite you to take a break – and perhaps it will even be warm enough for a first dip in the lake. Since places to stop for refreshments along the way are not guaranteed, please remember to bring sufficient provisions and something to drink – better safe than sorry! **What’s Village Outdoor?** Village outdoor Events are monthly meetups for the we are village community and their friends to enjoy outdoor activities in and around Berlin. Der Weg verläuft größtenteils entlang der Ufer von Bötzsee und Fängersee und bietet immer wieder beeindruckende Ausblicke auf die Natur. Die ca. 13 km (ca. 5 Std.) Immer wieder laden idyllische Badestellen zu einer Pause ein – und vielleicht ist es ja schon warm genug für ein erstes Bad im See.
