🚶‍♂️ GoodGym Fitness Walk: Dollis Brook to Darlands Lake (Green Belt Walk)

🚶‍♂️ GoodGym Fitness Walk: Dollis Brook to Darlands Lake (Green Belt Walk)

Thu, Feb 26, 11:00 AM
From GoodGym Barnet

Join us for a relaxed but purposeful GoodGym fitness walk through some of North London’s most attractive and surprisingly wild green spaces — all within the London Green Belt. We’ll walk from West Finchley to Mill Hill East, following the Dollis Brook and then looping through Darlands Nature Reserve and Lake. This route offers varied scenery, open views, woodland, water, and a real sense of being away from the city despite staying firmly in London. 🌿 About the route Dollis Brook forms a green river corridor through Barnet, with tree-lined paths, open grassland, birdsong, and gentle gradients — peaceful, scenic, and ideal for walking and conversation. Darlands Nature Reserve is a protected area of woodland, meadows, and ponds, with a beautiful lake at its centre. It feels surprisingly rural and is known for its wildlife, seasonal colour, and calm atmosphere — a real hidden gem. ☕ Stops & pace There will be a coffee / light lunch stop en route, and we’ll keep a steady, sociable pace with time to enjoy the surroundings. We will finish at Mill Hill East tube station on the northern line. 📏 Distance & terrain • Estimated distance: approx. 6–7 miles (10–11 km) • Duration: 3–4 hours, including breaks • Terrain: mostly flat paths with some uneven sections • Conditions: can be muddy after wet weather, but generally manageable with suitable footwear 👟 What you’ll need • Comfortable walking shoes or boots (preferably waterproof) • Weather-appropriate clothing • Water and a snack (optional café stop available) This walk is run by GoodGym Barnet — combining movement, sociability, and exploring local green spaces. You don’t need to be a GoodGym member to join; everyone is welcome. Dogs allowed. Participation, Health & Responsibility GoodGym Barnet activities are informal, volunteer-led sessions that combine light physical activity with community volunteering or social exercise. Participation is voluntary and at your own risk. By attending this event, you confirm that you are responsible for your own health, fitness, and wellbeing, and that you take part based on your own judgement and ability. You should ensure you are medically fit to participate and are comfortable with the nature of the activity, which may include walking or running on uneven surfaces, paths, parks, nature reserves, or urban environments. Conditions may be muddy or wet depending on the weather. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear and take care of your personal belongings.
