Rigidalstock - Brunni Ferrata Together
Rigidalstock - Brunni Ferrata Together
A via ferrata is a protected, fixed-cable climbing route that allows people to traverse steep or difficult rocky terrain safely. These routes incorporate steel cables, rungs, ladders, and bridges, which serve as both climbing aids and continuous anchors for a special via ferrata safety set to clip into, blending the experience of hiking and rock climbing. Last year we struggle in winter time to catch the last cable car, summer time will be better, and we will start early so we have time to jump in the small lake too (optional, weather and temperature dependent) We plan to do * The Via Ferrata BrunnistÜckli ([https://brunni.ch/60/en/brunnistockli](https://brunni.ch/60/en/brunnistockli)) a K2 if there are beginners that want to learn the basics. * Then go to the Klettersteig Rigidalstock ([https://brunni.ch/62/en/rigidalstockridge-and-face](https://brunni.ch/62/en/rigidalstockridge-and-face)) a K3 Both are ideal for beginners. **Weather can cancel the event a few days before if weather is not perfect for execution!** * https://www.meteoschweiz.admin.ch/lokalprognose/brunnihuette-sac.html#forecast-tab=detail-view **You MUST sign the waiver form, it contains detailed information about the difficulty and more** [https://forms.gle/U9vwNC22R8utpx6a8](https://forms.gle/U9vwNC22R8utpx6a8) You can read the QuickStart guide: [https://docs.google.com/document/d/19oks3FaopmkEDDOAUF163Lo_qWMmBgFS0Ht5TqTf0YA/edit?usp=sharing](https://docs.google.com/document/d/19oks3FaopmkEDDOAUF163Lo_qWMmBgFS0Ht5TqTf0YA/edit?usp=sharing) There is no transport organised, no Bus. You can use your car or travel with the organiser CÊdric Walter from Zßrich HB, meeting up below the Blue Engel at 6:50 sharp The recommended train is the 7:10 in Zßrich HB -> Engelberg, Brunnibahn. 20 CHF HalbTax one way **Costs:** You'll have to pay for: * Transport by train to Engelberg or you organise your own transportation * The first cable car (is free with a General abonnement, discounted with HalbTax) & the chairlift, see https://brunni.ch/en/detail/prices-single-and-returntickets **Renting Equipment (+20 CHF)** * The via ferrata set (incl. helmet and harness) can be reserved in advance either by using the form below, by telephone (041 639 60 60) or by e-mail (info@brunni.ch). You have to leave a valid ID * The via ferrata sets can be obtained at the Kräuterhßtte [https://brunni.ch/22/de/krauterhutte](https://brunni.ch/22/de/krauterhutte) at the Härzlisee. * The Kräuterhßtte close EARLY than 17:00, your ID is then move to the restaurant beside the Kräuterhßtte, you can give the helmet and harness and get your ID there * If the set is not collected one hour after the requested reservation time, the Brunni-Bahnen reserve the right to release the equipment in case of increased demand, but your ID will stay at the top of the hill, and need to be sent per post. * We have to get enough time buffer to catch the cable car

Wasserbergfirst hike
Wasserbergfirst hike
This hike start at the bus stop Muotathal at 9:05. It is not the easiest one. Although it is only a T3 it is 2000m up. If we are enough people, we can split into two groups. One group for those who prefer a more relaxed option, like swimming in Träsmerenseeli or just go slower while the others reach the summit by doing the full hike. We can speak about that in the dedicated whatsapp group difficult version: [Wasserbergfirst - swisstopo app](https://swisstopo.app/i/1/51387743-7589-4ff3-803d-d0e20ee6f45d) easy version: [Wasserberffirst (easy) - swisstopo app](https://swisstopo.app/i/1/a9c596f5-590d-4b69-a3d7-d3034b1ca05c) **How to go with the train (from Zurich and I will meet you on the way):** [Verbindungen Zürich HB nach Muotathal, hintere Brücke | Das Online-Portal der SBB für Fahrplan, Zug und ÖV](https://www.sbb.ch/de?stops=Z%C3%BCrich+HB_I8503000~Muotathal,+hintere+Br%C3%BCcke_I8587533&day=2026-06-14&time=06_26&moment=dep&trip=4) **dedicated whatapp group** [WhatsApp-Gruppeneinladung](https://chat.whatsapp.com/DyUbnmefXvpBuk37JI83VA) **Registration:** To sign up, please select "Yes" in the WhatsApp community survey for this activity: [🌄 Switzerland Discovery Crew (Preferred Ages 18-35)🌄 | WhatsApp-Kanal](https://www.whatsapp.com/channel/0029VaoercY1XquRrJm58k3V) If the event will happen in more than 30 days, I haven't added the survey in the channel yet. (Because message in a WhatsApp channel can be read by a new member only 30 days before he joins. But you can already enter the corresponding WhatsApp group) If you are concerned about privacy, only the admin of a WhatsApp channel can see who has voted in a poll (unlike a WhatsApp group). Please sign up only when you are certain! You can also register through Meetup, as it helps build momentum; however, I rely only on the number of people who signed up through the WhatsApp survey.

Clarendon Beginner Dungeons & Dragons (20s and 30s) Drop-In Session
This is one of our regularly occurring drop-in sessions. We need a minimum of 4 players for this event to occur. Curious about Dungeons & Dragons but never played before? Learn how to play classic Dungeons & Dragons with other newbies and go on perilous adventures in a dark fairytale world called Dolmenwood. This will be a beginner-oriented introductory session involving exploration, strange monsters, clever problem-solving, and some intrigue. You do not need to know the rules ahead of time and you do not need to bring anything, as I have dice, pencils, and premade character sheets for all players. Just show up, jump in, and see if it is your thing! This will be a one-off adventure, with potential to continue on if everyone is interested. I will send the exact location to you once you are signed up.

Mt Kilimanjaro Trek! One of the 7 Summits. Join us on this bucket list adventure
Mt Kilimanjaro Trek! One of the 7 Summits. Join us on this bucket list adventure
**Our Meetup is off to another hiking adventure! Mt Kilimanjaro, as the tallest mountain in Africa, is included in the 7 Summits of the world.** **It is a bucket-list item for all hard-core hikers and mountain lovers.** We did this trek with Meetup in the summer of 2024 and it was a true experience of a lifetime (see photos below) Let's get to some numbers. It is 5,895m/19,340ft BUT . . . our starting elevation for the trek is 3795m/12541ft As such elevation gain is 2100m/6799ft To compare Everest Base Camp trek, is about 2754m/9035ft elevation change. And Mt Whitney is about 1828m/6000ft elevation change. The key to being able to succeed in this endeavor lays in the route and the support system. We are taking the Lemosho Route via the Northern Circuit. The Northern Circuit route is the longest and newest of the seven established Kilimanjaro routes. It's one of the best routes because it has the best acclimatization profile. This results in one of the highest summit success rates. Add to that stunning views, and comparatively relaxed pace. It is also much less crowded than the other Kilimanjaro routes. As far as our support system: We will be accompanied by experienced guides, porters and cooks. They are certified, ensuring our safety and comfort. Porters will carry our gear. We will have a high ratio of guides to hikers. Our guides will go our pace and support each and everyone of us, regardless of fitness level and pace. In other words...you go your own speed and we all get there safe. More about our trek/trip. As with all our international trips, we picked the best season/time of year to go for weather and wildlife. Lemosho and Northern Circuit is a scenically spectacular and varied route. At the lower elevations it has an abundance of wildlife such as elephant, buffalo, eland and lion which come over to forage during dry season. **Each of our trips is personally crafted to offer the best places and best use of time.** *But I don't have the needed gear?!* You don't need much more than the standard trekker's equipment. We will provide you with a list of what is already included and what can be rented there. *Does this include food?* All meals on the trek potion are included and a cook travels with us! *What is lodging like?* We are sleeping in new and comfortable tents (carried during the day by porters) *I am new at this.* That's OK. We do plenty of prep Zooms before we depart. And in California we have a number of local outdoor day or weekend outings you can test out with us. *How dangerous is this? What if I get sick or hurt?* We will be walking on an established, well used trail the entire time. **Our trip INCLUDES emergency insurance.** We are also Certified Wilderness First Responders and our guides are members of (AMREF) Flying Doctor. **Plain and simple, safety is our primary goal.** *How much does this cost?* **Kilimanjaro Mountain Trek $3950 per person, double occupancy. Land only (airfare not included). Solo supplement $600** Trip Cost includes: \- 9 nights accommodation \- 3 meals everyday on the trek \- All Fees & Entrances and Taxes \- Camping equipment such as tents\, tables\, chairs\. \- Lead Guide\, Assistant Guides\, Porters and Cook *RSVP to this event shows your interest, but does not hold your space.* ***The only way to secure your spot for this trip is a $300 deposit:*** ***[CLICK HERE FOR SECURE DEPOSIT LINK](https://www.paypal.com/instantcommerce/checkout/8P9NUAVQM8UEN)*** *Deposit is refundable up to 90 days before the departure (less PayPal fees).* *IF you need an airfare quote,* [Click here to message Anna](https://secure.meetup.com/messages/?new_convo=true&member_id=131297062) For more information about this or any of our other international events, fill out this form: **[INTERNATIONAL MEETUPS INFO REQUEST](https://forms.gle/cQdqYw74gAYqphXX8)** To see pictures from our Kilimanjaro adventure in 2024 [CLICK HERE](https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipPkfkUp6sEZVQ-xse1di_K19d1QVmSb5KOLeIjynRoWGv_XFLXI8wBfT61XxAHavg?key=U2tKajBuOGRiZkxBOUtTUG1GbUVRVmlDaERCeG5n) We do a monthly Q & A Zoom: Meet others attending, be social, or come and get any questions answered. BreadBreakers Community Dinner: Special 250th Anniversary Edition
BreadBreakers Community Dinner: Special 250th Anniversary Edition
**In a time of division and isolation, come be part of the community that's rebuilding the town square, one table at a time.** **This dinner in particular will be very special as we celebrate America's 250th birthday. How better to honor a semiquincentennial of democracy that spending an evening practicing it?** In BreadBreakers, we use the common space of the dining table to have conversations where neighbors can **hear, be heard, and know one another.** If you're hungry for good conversation and deeper community, join us for a Community Dinner in Reston and help blaze the trail to a healthier, more connected society and democracy. Here’s how it works: For just two hours, multiple tables of people set aside the need to "win" and instead focus on sharing, listening, and connecting. Guided by experienced table hosts, we'll tell our stories, try to understand each other, and practice being in community with those with different views or backgrounds. **At this dinner, participants will get to choose between three different topics, including some current events.** Topics range from the political, to the "slice of life", to the spiritual, to the philosophical, to the off-the-wall - but no matter which table you choose to sit at, you can be sure it'll be like no dinner conversation you've had before! You can also **suggest a topic** by emailing us at BreadBreakersInfo@gmail.com. Food will be provided for free. For those who wish to provide a donation to help fund BreadBreakers, you can [give here](https://pushpay.com/g/restorationrestonumc?fnd=pO6G-N7oO7FH7Mp1u-x6mA&fndv=Lock&r=No&lang=en&src=pcgl) or at the event. We'll have vegetarian and gluten-free options available. If you have any additional dietary restrictions (Celiac Disease, vegan, etc.) please let us know at BreadBreakersInfo@gmail.com so that we can implement the appropriate food handling procedures. **Join us, invite a friend, and be a part of the movement to mend our fractured society and normalize a better way of talking with one another.** BreadBreakers, an initiative by [Restoration United Methodist Church](https://restorationreston.org/breadbreakers) in Reston, VA, is a religiously inclusive community. We are a collaboration between people of all faiths and stripes. Our leadership, volunteer team, and community include people who attend Restoration and people who don't.
