Documentary on Musician Linda Perry (Sold Out as of May 8)

Documentary on Musician Linda Perry (Sold Out as of May 8)

Sun, May 17, 9:50 PM
From Live Jazz (& Blues) Meetup Group
4.8

Known partly for her hit single What's Up with 4 Non Blondes, Linda Perry has reinvented herself as a songwriter and producer in the decades since that song topped the charts, penning hits for artists like Dolly Parton, Christina Aguilera and Pink. This 2024 film offers an intimate look at a woman who dreams big, yet still struggles with fear, identity and family, as she grapples with the same big question we all do: Who am I? **This screening includes a Q&A with Linda Perry and director Don Hardy, as well as a special acoustic performance by Perry. Given all that, I think this screening will sell out.** COST: Lowest-priced tickets for this show start at about $15 per person. **Buy your own ticket** (and see the trailer) at the following link: https://roxie.com/film/linda-perry-let-it-die-here/ WHEN/WHERE TO MEET: No later than 2:50 p.m. outside the Big Roxie. The film is due to start at 3:15 p.m., and lasts about 1 hour, 40 minutes (not counting the in-person appearance segment). HOW TO FIND ME: I'm WF, about 5 feet tall, with short, salt-and-pepper hair and glasses. (See Meetup profile pic.) Also, I'll send RSVPers my mobile number prior to the event. If I'm missing anyone when I get seated, I'll post a Comment on the Meetup Event Page telling people where I'm located. (I'll turn my phone off when the film starts.) OPTIONAL POST-FILM DINNER at a nearby late-night Chinese restaurant. **Bring cash if interested in the dinner.** Also, I welcome $1.00 donations to offset the $180.00 per year that Meetup charges me as lead organizer. TRANSIT/PARKING: The Roxie is on the #22 Fillmore bus line, and is located less than 2 blocks from the 16th Street BART station and assorted Mission Street bus lines. If you're driving, allow extra time to find parking on side streets.

Overview Join us for an opportunity to be on the Film Festival Production Team as well as share your work in creative works in progress with peers. **Join the BCM Film Festival Team!** Be part of a passionate group dedicated to creating meaningful, community-driven filmmaking events. We meet once a month to plan, collaborate, and make the magic happen. **Contact Melanie@betv.org and come to the 3rd Wednesday of every month at BCM headquarters to get involved.** This is a chance for you to become involved in a deeper way with the wonderful film festivals produced by BCM. Traditionally, we have had 2 film festivals each year: the 48 Hour Filmmaker Challenge in July and the Horror Film Fest-Evil in October. However, there have been others such as "The BCM Screening Room," "St. Valentine’s Day Film Festival," "March Mania" and a "Sci Fi Film Festival." What are festival themes YOU would like to see BCM produce? In other words, we COULD be having more events if only we had more support…and…YOU could be getting the inside scoop on how it all works from start to finish. This means a more in-depth understanding of film fest production. BCM celebrates Berkeley’s creative spirit and longstanding tradition of independent arts and storytelling. Our festivals highlight independent filmmakers while providing a public platform for diverse voices and experimental work. By bringing together filmmakers, residents, students, and visitors for screenings, discussions, our festivals reflect Berkeley’s identity as a city that values creativity, free expression, and community engagement. The events we produce strengthen local cultural life while making independent film accessible to the broader community. Whether you’re in the industry as a filmmaker already, just starting out or purely want to support the festival production at BCM, please contact Melanie@betv.org and show up to the Community Club 2.0 every month 3rd Wednesday 6-8pm
