Sat, Aug 1, 2:00 AMHello SF Poker Community! We are giving away two (2) sets of a pair of Giants Tix for the first 10 RSVPs for our 2/3/5 NLHE game tonight (and every game going forward)! It will be a free, Turbo sit & go (around 15-30 min tops) The first person to bust out (with the worst hand as a tie-breaker) will receive a pair of Giants tix. The winner will also get two tix as well. Just a fun way to start the ring game. (\*\*Must buy into ring game to have a chance at the tix!) A little about me: I'm in SF for the next 15 months working on a new card game show...a little about me: I was the Poker teaching consultant backstage on Celebrity Poker Showdown on NBC/Bravo. I had a steady home game in NYC for years with close friends and acquaintances and friends of friends and would like to replicate it here in SF! A few perks of playing in my game: * Free Snacks & Drinks All Night * Pro Dealer (no tipping necessary), Chips, Cards * Good people, Good Poker, Good Vibes--Always * 4 Screens for Viewing Sports--Including NFL Sunday Ticket * Luxury apt, Full Security, w/Off-Street Parking Available * In Beautiful Mission Bay a Few Blocks from Oracle/Chase * You never know when you'll be playing with a Celeb/Sports figure! Why go to an impersonal card room with slow dealers and overpriced food when you can be making friends and connections with a regular crew of good people who have been vetted? (And if you're in, your referrals always take priority--So tell your friends!) In order to get in, please message me a little about you, when you can play, etc., and I will get back to you with further details. First come first served on reservations. I will allow future reservations 1 week in advance. I usually try to have a game Sunday (NFL Sundays! Golf Final Rounds, NBA Playoffs, NHL, & MLB!) and Friday but have had them on Tuesday & Thursdays as well. It's all up to when the gang can come. We usually play No Limit Hold em in the $100-1000 buy in range. D.M.A.

Discussion: The Black Woman: An Anthology edited by Toni Cade Bambara
Sat, Aug 1, 8:00 PMHey y’all! We’re reading Toni Cade back-to-back, alongside a chorus of some of the most revered Black women writers of our times — Nikki Giovanni, Alice Walker, and Audre Lorde all make appearances in this anthology. Published in a world where popular theory presupposed all the women were white and all the Black folks were men, this is a seminal text for Black feminism. Can’t wait to discuss with you all. (in the words of Toni Cade Bambara) Black Blessings, Jillian **Book description:** A collection of early, emerging works from some of the most celebrated African American female writers who remain strong when the weight of a world filled with racism and gender discrimination wants to drag them down. When it was first published in 1970, The Black Woman introduced readers to an astonishing new wave of voices that demanded to be heard. In this groundbreaking volume of original essays, poems, and stories, a chorus of outspoken women--many who would become leaders in their fields, such as bestselling novelist Alice Walker, poets Audre Lorde and Nikki Giovanni, writer Paule Marshall, activist Grace Lee Boggs, and musician Abbey Lincoln among them-- tackled issues surrounding race and sex, body image, the economy, politics, labor, and much more. Their words still resonate with truth, relevance, and insight today as the fight for racial and gender equality continues to rage on. **Getting the Book:** If you need a digital copy, reach out for the pdf. If you'd like to shop local and Black-owned there’s the beloved Marcus Books. You can give them a call to reserve a copy and visit them at: **Marcus Books - 1 (510) 652-2344** 3900 Martin Luther King Jr Way, Oakland, CA 94609 This book is also available at the Oakland Public Library and the San Francisco Public Library.
