I (Melissa) have celebrated Christmas in July as a silly made up holiday for over a decade! I'm keeping the tradition going here at the Rock. This year, we're putting together a popup escape room at the shop. We'll split into 2 teams to compete to "escape" first, then celebrate afterward over some board games and hanging out. Return of rock, blues, and country jam (near 2/210)

Hello, again, if you’re still out there! It’s been a while, but the drum kit is set up again. It’ll take some time to set up the PA, etc., but I’m hoping to get the jam going again. I’ve had this goofy idea for a while to play full band style, plugged in, singing through mics, but not real loud. Since Covid, I’ve met a mellow drum player who likes playing music, not real picky about style, and a great bass player who can play anything, but they’re both busy Saturdays. We’re probably going to jam some on Tuesdays, too. I play lousy guitar and write weird songs, but I like taking turns with others leading tunes. Looking for other musicians, singers, songwriters who’d like to collaborate on originals and covers of Americana, Dylan, Stones, Dead, etc.

Please join us for a beautiful 5-mile walk aimed at cultivating deep, thoughtful, and interesting conversations! Ultimately, we hope to spark connection, learning, friendship, and community — all while getting exercise in the great outdoors and being curious! **How does this work?** The concept is simple! ***Before the event, come up with a thought-provoking, weighty question or idea that you’ve been thinking about or would like to explore.*** *You need this for the event!* When we gather, we’ll all briefly introduce ourselves and share our question or idea. Then we’ll start walking and use those questions or ideas as launching pads for conversation. The intention is to leapfrog over small-talk and get into meaningful discussion. During the walk, please move fluidly among different walkers if you’d like to! About those questions or ideas, . . . don’t sweat them too much. Anything thoughtful or thought-provoking will do. Have fun with it! Nobody knows what story they are going to tell. It's time to truly connect again in the way that only sitting in real life, with real people, telling real-life stories can. Storytelling is the capability we have used to connect with one another and create the modern world. And yet, especially on social media, we have reduced storytelling to story-selling and mostly share opinions rather than real-life experiences. Our events are simple, timed, unprepared story prompts that help everyone who listens connect to our unique and yet relatable experiences. Often, the stories told are intensely funny, sometimes emotional, but always interesting. Please arrive on time so that we can start promptly at 6 pm. **Let the Games begin.** We will start with a couple of simple story rounds for the storytellers. The first is almost always 'The Story of your name' because everyone is **the** world's expert in living their life with their name. **Break!** We host these events to encourage connection and community, so this break is there to keep it light and cheerful.
