NY College Climbing Chalk & Talk

If you're a college student in NYC and either enjoy bouldering or want to try it for the first time, this is for you! Climb hard or barely climb at all — both work, and total beginners are genuinely welcome. And yes, if you have one and bring your chalk bag then we'll top it off with some free chalk — on us :). You can trickle in starting 4:00pm, where we'll be breaking off into groups of 3-4 to climb together, as well as go through a handout of some fun relationship-making questions that start light (think We're Not Really Strangers) and get more interesting from there (questions like: "Is what I'm pursuing actually worth it, or could I be missing something?", "Why does ___ make you happy — does it actually?") — all geared towards the goal of making real, deep, and lasting friendships in NYC with people our age. Afterwards, we'll probably grab something yummy to eat together in our groups if you want to join for that as well.

Fixer's Collective Manhattan Fixing Session

Come bring your broken items in need of some TLC to Hack Manhattan for this month's session of the Fixers' Collective. All are welcome, whether you have something to fix or just want to observe and watch. We encourage people to bring in their items early, so we can devote the most time to the item. Subsequently, if you arrive in the middle of a fix, we’ll try to accommodate you as best as we can. Ego Free Jam - First Saturdays

A night of improvisational sound and music for musicians and non-musicians alike, in a beautiful and cozy space. Bring your own instruments or use the venue’s. Play, move your body, or just tune into others during two journeys, each lasting about two hours, with emphasis placed on listening to and supporting each other. Dancing and body movement are encouraged, feel free to participate by making sounds or by listening deeply. The opening exercise is an invitation to overcome our resistance to self-expression. Take a little risk and delight in knowing that it didn't kill you ;) * 7:30 PM: Doors open, time to settle, mingle, try out instruments * 8:00 PM: Jam #1 begins * 10:00 PM: Jam #2 begins This is a shoes-off event. There is a bar area and loungey art installation for breaks and conversations. Every first Saturday. NOTE: We alternate between amplified and acoustic jams. Even months are acoustic. The Delight Factory has three areas, the main area is for music making, the bar and back yard areas are for conversations. **WHY ‘EGO FREE’?** The ego is the part of us that wants to keep us safe in the world and tries to make us NOT do something. It shows up as fear and embarrassment. When we get the urge to "do it right” out of the way, we can play, improvise, take a little risk, mess up, see that it didn't kill us, and feel the delight in that piece of freedom. **DO I NEED TO BE A MUSICIAN?** Not at all. You can pick up an instrument and improvise, vocalize, move your body, make something, or just listen. **WHAT TO BRING?** You are encouraged to bring an instrument, dancing body, art supplies, yoga mat, favorite toy, whatever inspires you and is fun for you. WTF (Weekly Tuesday Folders)

**NEW LOCATION:** OMG NYC (Origami Meetup Group! New York City) is a group for people to come together and share in the beautiful art of Origami - an ancient art of folding various mediums, most commonly paper. The word comes from the combination of the Japanese verb oru (to fold) and the noun kami (paper). Other materials often folded are fabric, wire mesh, sheet metal, tissue, thin plastic, cardboard, and straws. We meet as a group to teach each other new models and share paper, books, and tips. This meeting is free and open to all level of folders from beginners to advanced. There will be free paper available to share. You can bring your own paper and books, so you can just show up and fold! If you have models you would like to learn, or teach, let us know and we will try our best to accommodate. OMG NYC's WTF (Weekly Tuesday Folders) meetup is now located at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library at 455 5th Avenue. The meeting is on the 3rd floor in room 303. **AWOL (After Work Origami Lovers) with us at Whole Foods on Madison Avenue and East 28th Street, UPSTAIRS in the dining area.** After a long week what could be better than meeting with friends and potential new friends to fold your work week away! It should be a lot of fun and more intimate than our once a month big meetings. A great place to learn some new models and also get help on models you're been stuck on. Bring your latest folds and creations for show and tell and your favorite models to teach and learn. This meeting is free and open to all level of folders from beginners to advanced folders. Bring paper and your books and also there will always be free paper available so you can just show up and fold! Please try to RSVP so others will know you will be there. FYI: regulars often do not rsvp but show up anyway. So don't be discouraged if you only see just one person attending. Hope to see you there! Happy folding!!
