## Details Sydney Social Climbers is a group of social climbing enthusiasts who also enjoy a coffee (or tea!) and a chat. We meet fortnightly, at the Blochaus Leichhardt climbing gym. We meet at the mats straight ahead after you enter. **What is Bouldering**? Bouldering is rock climbing without ropes or harnesses. The challenge is to climb short but tricky routes using balance, technique, and strength. It's a high-intensity exercise that strengthens many of the major muscles of the body, and in particular your core, back, shoulders, arms, hands, and grip. It can also help improve your sport climbing technique. Bouldering routes are set for beginners up to advanced climbers. Whether it's your first time, you have not climbed in ages, or you are a seasoned professional, a good time is guaranteed - we welcome everyone of all levels! **Cost**: * No meetup charge, only gym charges as below: * Gym entry is $25 * Shoe rental is $7 * See more pricing and membership information on their website: [https://syd.blochaus.com.au/pricing/](https://syd.blochaus.com.au/pricing/) **What to bring / wear:** Clothes comfortable for exercising Climbing shoes if you own a pair, otherwise you can rent at the gym **Schedule** 9:30am-9:35am Meet and Greet (at mats in front of you after you enter the gym) 9:35am-11:30 Climbing 11:30 Regroup at mats in front of you after you enter the gym. We might go for coffee or food. It depends on what people want to do **Disclaimer**: Your safety is your own responsibility while climbing. Meetup hosts are not employees or representatives of the gym. **Sensory and other information:** Parking in front of the gym is limited. There is on-road parking in the streets around the gym. Climbing gyms are very open and inclusive spaces. They have LGBT+ evenings and low sensory times. Climbing is an sport that is very welcoming to beginners. If you are new to the sport, your meetup host can give you some tips on technique and gym etiquette. Saturday mornings at this gym are quiet. There are only a few people climbing and you can project routes without much interruption. The music is usually much quieter than other climbing gyms and more down-tempo. It's a low-intensity environment compared to other climbing gyms. If you are on the autistic spectrum or have sensory issues, this gym and meetup session may be more suitable than the meetup sessions at the larger busier gyms. The gym has heating and air conditioning. If you come in the summer and the air con is running, it is good to bring a light long-sleeve top if you are sitting around for longer periods of time between climbs. The lighting is industrial and bright. There is a small area at the back which has seating. This is good if you enter sensory overload as it is less brightly lit and quieter than the main gym area. There is a water fountain at the front desk. The gym sells snack bars, fruit, soft drinks and hot drinks. There are cubby holes for your clothing and bags in the warmup area and behind the front desk. Toilets are at the back left of the gym.

Great North Walk Section 5 - Mount Colah to Mount Kuring-gai

Great North Walk Section 5 - Mount Colah to Mount Kuring-gai

Sat, Feb 21, 9:00 PM
From Off Peaks Club
4.9

This is 5th section of GNW. This is much better signposted than our last section - for those lovely people who tried that! Whilst rated hard, the worst bit is actually at the end where the walk out to Mount Kuring-gai is tough given it is at the end - and up a steep fire trail. As always we will look after you the whole way. Note: there are **no** options to drop out part way, other than turning back - or going the whole way to the end. Toilets are only at the beginning and end too. We have done this walk many times, so we understand the conditions. You will need 2-3 litres of water and (optionally) Gatorade/Powerade/Hyrdalyte. Hiking/trail running shoes (or boots) are strongly recommended, as are hiking poles. Bring a hat and snacks as well. **Meet**: On the rail overpass at Mt Colah Station at 8:00am. See [https://what3words.com/hype.damage.farms](https://what3words.com/hype.damage.farms) **Distance, Time, Effort:** 16.13 km distance, About 4.5hrs (based on our usual pace), Moderate/High effort. **Public transport example:** Train from Central Platform 9 at 06:48am gets to Hornsby at 7:26am. Hornsby to Mt Colah is 7:37am Platform 2 gets in at 7:43am **Driving:**YParking at Mount Colah (start) is on Pacific Highway or Parkland Rd. You can park at Mount Kuring-gai (end) Best train from Mount Kuring-gai to the start is 7:47am from Platform 1 gets in to Mount Colah at 7:50am. **Return:** Trains run every 1/2hour back to the start or to Central or Hornsby. There are some limited options to get transported somewhere for free at the end - ask the hosts on the day.
