Meetup: ALL THE DOGS ARE FREE! Celebration of Ridglan Farms Shutting Down

Meetup: ALL THE DOGS ARE FREE! Celebration of Ridglan Farms Shutting Down

Sat, Aug 22, 6:00 PM
From Direct Action Everywhere: People Who Love Animals
4.9

Ridglan Farms is finally shutting down and by the date of this Meetup the last \~150 beagles will have left their cages to begin their new lives! This historic win for animals follows nearly 10 years of activism, dedication, and hard work by numerous individuals and organizations! In 2017 Direct Action Everywhere investigated and exposed for the first time what Ridglan was doing to dogs. Over the years, various local organizations like Dane4Dogs formed in Wisconsin to fight for the Ridglan dogs and other national groups like the Animal Activist Legal Defense Project and Big Dog Ranch Rescue joined our efforts. People once laughed at the idea that we would ever save the Ridglan dogs, but now they will all be safe, happy and free. Let's celebrate! Come hang out with some of the Ridglan rescues, enjoy vegan cake, and hear from Zoe Rosenberg about the history of this campaign. Fresh coffee, tea, and a delicious plant-based brunch will be provided at the Meetup as well! **Where:** Berkeley Animal Rights Center West (2414 6th St, Berkeley) **When:** Saturday, August 22nd 11am-12:30pm **What:** Community hangout and presentation \- ARC West is a 30 minute walk from North Berkeley BART and only a 10 minute walk from the 51B bus stop at University and 6th St\. \- Dogs that like other dogs are welcome at this event\! \- There will be plant\-based brunch and coffee\, donations accepted \- If you cannot join in person\, you can join at 11:15am on Zoom at this link: [dxe.io/meetupzoom](https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fdxe.io%2Fmeetupzoom%3Ffbclid%3DIwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAYnJpZBExenhTSjRYbU1sZmVhUm5LbnNydGMGYXBwX2lkEDIyMjAzOTE3ODgyMDA4OTIAAR7XSfInQn6f2rrRQ_QR1aS5UCdpytoXYrZyxF10qjtkBPQelsdvOgzvmHmSow_aem_BQtnrCuN44HrmVxJWeyCMw&h=AUCkhd8RYXAM50J7I4uJCzh4v6G2EV_exVMYUZXSjoji-TaMr99s-SqkGkD2qFsY8y16UVgaYeY6Q9h1Jvljrs7iL7nXIMOXAbddGZz2NJ-qoBZWkjT299qOesuQaPo-uREMoIp9Fmgt1J2T-Dqxh0UuPg1oTKEN&__tn__=q&c%5B0%5D=AUBeQKoVcIXREEgpSqAtlXLBJerG5FZI381NYnoQ4k71ASVatycg7s0DocKDnW90VXDhznYhA6_EGljTLjs22yv-NF3LxEsOhZ2yNlrKA6T6USrSxZ27uZ78kdxJZQj61wxG1lBJwuRTZGbY0LIuszCzMHiYXXR5-h4) Every Saturday at 11am we have Meetups for everyone and anyone who cares about animals and making the world a better place! Pigeon First Aid & Companion Animal Care

Pigeon First Aid & Companion Animal Care

Sun, Aug 16, 6:00 PM
From Direct Action Everywhere: People Who Love Animals
4.9

What if you could spend one afternoon directly changing the lives of animals who desperately need our help? Join us in San Francisco for a unique, hands-on experience where you'll learn how to rescue injured pigeons, provide life-changing first aid, and support companion animals living alongside our unhoused neighbors. Every day, pigeons in San Francisco suffer from a hidden danger: string, fishing line, hair, and other debris that wrap tightly around their toes and feet, causing immense pain, infections, and sometimes the loss of entire limbs. During this event, we'll teach you how to safely spot, catch, and help these incredible birds before releasing them back to their families and flocks. We'll also be carrying food and toys to share with companion animals belonging to our unhoused neighbors because compassion doesn't stop with one species. This event is about building a kinder city for all animals. Whether you're a lifelong animal advocate or simply someone who wants to make a difference, this is your chance to turn empathy into action. You'll leave with new skills, amazing stories, and the incredible feeling that comes from knowing you made someone's world a little better. No experience necessary. We'll provide all the training and supplies. Just bring: **Compassion** **Comfortable shoes** A willingness to help animals who are too often ignored Come discover just how much good one afternoon can do. ARRIVE ON TIME! We’ll begin promptly at 11am with a brief about essential safety and training. If you arrive late, we will be out and about and hard to contact and find so please be on time. **Meeting location: Powell Street BART Station** Questions?
