Improv Jam Session | Beginner-Friendly Game Day

Improv Jam Session | Beginner-Friendly Game Day

Sun, May 3, 8:00 PM
From Have Fun Make Friends SF
4.9

Join us for a fun day of improv games! This is a free, beginner-friendly jam session (not a formal class). It’s our second get-together game day led by the same host Talia - last time we had a blast! Nobody is forced to participate but highly encouraged to jump in and play. **What to expect:** * Improv - short for improvisational theater - is a form of live performance where characters, dialogue, and scenes are created in the moment. * We’ll have a mix of warm-up games, learn about character development, physical comedy, and storytelling. * Depending on audience participation, we’re planning about an 1.5-2 hour session. **Where and when:** * Sunday, May 3rd - meeting at 1:00pm, games start at 1:15pm. * William McKinley Monument in NoPa: https://maps.app.goo.gl/gSDmnZA9md6r5orU9 * We’re planning to use the space in front of the monument as our “stage”. * Plus, it’s more shaded and there are public restrooms nearby. If you’re still reading (whoo whoo), here is a Wiki rabbit hole about improv: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Improvisational_theatre Come play some games with us!

From Gist IRL
4.7

**RSVP via:** https://app.gistirl.com/event-details/FFG4S2pOYMUXRi2yy6WZ **FREE for Early Bird | $ Later on** Most sunset walks end with no real follow-up. This one ends with a dinner reservation. You will spend an hour in genuine one-on-one conversations with adventure-loving locals you have never met. There is no awkward mingling or wondering who to approach next. Instead of swapping workout tips but never actually connecting beyond a shared trail, you pick your favorite people from the rounds and walk the lake perimeter and head to a nearby restaurant on Grand Avenue for dinner. Same evening. No follow-up texts. No scheduling headaches. Just real conversation that turns into a real plan — with people you already vibe with. By the time you sit down for dinner, you've already shared a scenic walk and great conversation with your new crew. Maybe this becomes your regular sunset walk and dinner squad. Maybe it's just a great evening. Either way, you're not doing it alone. Agenda 6:20PM - Check-In Follow the link to complete a quick profile setup on your phone. 6:30PM - 7:30PM - One-on-One Rounds Our app pairs you for focused conversations. Find out who shares your fitness goals, favorite routes, and active lifestyle during the rounds. 7:30PM+ - Form Groups & walk the lake perimeter and head to a nearby restaurant on Grand Avenue for dinner Reconnect with your favorite matches, form groups of 4-6, and walk the lake perimeter and head to a nearby restaurant on Grand Avenue for dinner. Your group leaves together - tonight. Don't just collect contacts. Actually walk and go to dinner with new people and see if this becomes your regular crew for trying different dinner spots around Lake Merritt after future walks. Want to stay in touch with someone? Use the app - it lets you connect without ever sharing your phone number. Here's a few recommendations: The Star on Grand - This neighborhood staple specializes in acclaimed cornmeal-crust deep dish pizza served in a warm, brick-walled space. Sister - A trendy and elevated destination known for its naturally leavened sourdough pizzas and creative seasonal small plates. Grand Lake Kitchen - This popular eatery serves refined deli-style comfort food and classic cocktails right on the edge of the park.
