From Bay Area Active & Social - 20s, 30s & 40s

**Update**: We got contact from the Carnaval festival organizer that they are still recruiting volunteers, in passive mode though. So the way to do that now is to find a shift and register at the volunteer link, then press the "Contact Organizer" button, that will send an email to the organizer so they can come to approve your application. The positions they are actively looking for are: Block Captains(4) and Entrance Greeters(5). Deadline is this weekend, so not to miss the online orientation next Tue.. **Social Schedule**: * End of Shift group coffee on May 23rd (Sat.) 7pm * Parade day social party on May 24th, check out its schedule at the Discover SF * [https://www.meetup.com/social-volunteering-crew-community-events/events/313061014](https://www.meetup.com/social-volunteering-crew-community-events/events/313061014) \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- Have you tried the famous **festival volunteering**? It you are **new** in town, or if you are local yet wishing some more social **connections**, festival volunteering is a way to get you there fast. You may interact with **hundreds** of people, and will see several times of that festival goers. All kinds of people, all walks of society. Traditionally festival volunteering has a **limit** that the social is mostly limited to your shift. Once that finished, you would be let go. Now comes us, TownFlame, organizing volunteering socials. We would open a real time volunteer social channel, so volunteers can have a **group coffee / meal after shifts**. What is more, we also organize **festival social** in format of our **DiscoverSF** and **Destination** local series, to support volunteers having group social in the exact event people serve. https://carnavalsanfrancisco.org/ Here comes the Carnival Parade & Festival in SF, on May 23-24th. It is one of the three **largest** Festival & Parade in SF, besides Chinese New Year & Pride. The festival will happen in mission district, famous for hispanic cultures. It is recruiting volunteers now, both for the 2 days festival and the Sunday parade, **deadline** is May 8. Here is the registration link: [https://carnavalsanfrancisco.org/volunteer/](https://carnavalsanfrancisco.org/volunteer/) Benefits of the volunteering include lunch, T-shirt and festival insider experience, with said **half a million** attending this huge community event. We would organize the Discover series on the parade day. Welcome to **join us** with your volunteer T-shirts. We can also **visit you** on the shift along the parade route. **Registration** link: [https://carnavalsanfrancisco.org/volunteer/](https://carnavalsanfrancisco.org/volunteer/) May 8 is the deadline to register for volunteering, we will adjust the date afterwards. **Join [TownFlame](http://www.townflame.org/) Volunteering, make life happen.** **Liability Waiver:** Participation in TownFlame events is voluntary and involves social interaction in public spaces. Activities are designed to be inclusive and respectful. Participants assume all risks and release TownFlame, its organizers, volunteers, and affiliates from liability for injury, illness, or damages, except in cases of gross negligence or intentional misconduct. Petco - Stop Selling Animals!

Petco - Stop Selling Animals!

Sun, May 17, 7:00 PM
From Direct Action Everywhere: People Who Love Animals
4.9

Join us in demanding that Petco stop selling animals! Most people shop at Petco because they care for animals. They may have no idea that the animals on the store’s shelves come from horrifically cruel breeding mills and some species are even kidnapped from their habitats in the wild. Shockingly, the majority of animals bred and shipped to pet stores die before they even reach the store shelf. Selling animals is costing millions of them their lives and it’s time for Petco to stop selling them! **When:** Sunday, May 17th 12noon **Where:** Meet at Franklin Square at the corner of 16th St and Bryant St, San Francisco (37.765424, -122.410229). We will walk to Petco together **Accessibility:** We will walk a short distance from the meeting location to the store where we will mostly be standing for about an hour If you would like to learn more about this campaign and get involved in the Bay Area to help end the retail sale of animals in pet stores please sign up at [dxe.io/adoptdontshop](https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fdxe.io%2Fadoptdontshop%3Ffbclid%3DIwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAYnJpZBExNmZyUk82MVh3YVk0S0xzSXNydGMGYXBwX2lkEDIyMjAzOTE3ODgyMDA4OTIAAR5j7_tEPdWv3QVFz1iGYO0nX71WvqisoKPGWu5lD4b_RmxuXYe1stBbRFUnRQ_aem_s-n3-szB1f16I78sSslAuw%26brid%3DYWdncwFdOXpshcqJoC4MHf3drlBW&h=AUANTXcoVxAxU8Z3o6t7MnuhAwqqsouRQZL_JwRpuf2cGGXZoFmdipiK8OX3QlrXwWv5LPVfrEqQ4L8SAfhvmPtPWSP8mrVpYmmO5y4WIg5EF8yUqHt7wz_Haxgs4NcB8jRfVSlIQnYch_TBQEDEh73wmdG8Ix3k&__tn__=q&c%5B0%5D=AUBgKq0gUVCTbfy1M9rJDJ4sLhDiDezf44znl6uLnP7_TFW0kDz2NxK_pEEjKRqKPbrDIiRwnfK1HFdyWAtn8CQxJHKNGix2up2jPEADGhbsjwYyHvhKNJ2kGE6H-YmfZpdza7TEYexJamXq_ybBMl66AtT4um5jBQw) and take action at [dxe.io/actionsteps](http://dxe.io/actionsteps?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAYnJpZBExNmZyUk82MVh3YVk0S0xzSXNydGMGYXBwX2lkEDIyMjAzOTE3ODgyMDA4OTIAAR5j7_tEPdWv3QVFz1iGYO0nX71WvqisoKPGWu5lD4b_RmxuXYe1stBbRFUnRQ_aem_s-n3-szB1f16I78sSslAuw&brid=YWdncwH_h7YS0lJpICQxhJ345-eQ) Direct Action Everywhere (DxE) is a grassroots network of animal rights activists. Meetup: Clover Exposed! Big Dairy is Terrified

Meetup: Clover Exposed! Big Dairy is Terrified

Sat, May 16, 6:00 PM
From Direct Action Everywhere: People Who Love Animals
4.9

A new DxE investigation was just released that exposes horrible cruelty against animals at a calf ranch linked to Clover Sonoma (the infamous dairy company that uses that silly smiling cow mascot to humane-wash what they do to animals). While Clover Sonoma markets itself as local, humane-certified, and committed to animal welfare, we know that the industry exists to profits off of animal exploitation and causes animals immense suffering. Join us at this Saturday’s Meetup to learn more about how we’re exposing factory farms and the brands they sell under, as well as what we can to do hold them accountable! After the Meetup we will go take action together at the exact facility where this cruelty is happening! Fresh coffee, tea, and a delicious plant-based brunch will be provided at the Meetup as well! Where: Berkeley Animal Rights Center West (2414 6th St, Berkeley) When: Saturday, May 16th 11am-12:30pm What: Community hangout and presentation \- ARC West is a 30 minute walk from North Berkeley BART and only a 10 minute walk from the 51B bus stop at University and 6th St\. \- Dogs that like other dogs are welcome at this event\! \- There will be plant\-based brunch and coffee\, donations accepted \- If you cannot join in person\, you can join at 11:15am on Zoom at this link: [dxe.io/meetupzoom](https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fdxe.io%2Fmeetupzoom%3Ffbclid%3DIwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAYnJpZBExTVk1TTBvVGsxbXJmeGxiOHNydGMGYXBwX2lkEDIyMjAzOTE3ODgyMDA4OTIAAR4u1Z3LUvePQgPmP2g9vveUtoZ9_UWToYja_rhBQnsjfP8RWdefrNn7olHLEQ_aem_j0DJfyKILKuwCBuq1jn2WA&h=AUBOyY8qusFkpr_UaRrdjJxIeKwl3wiboUikd53DlaQAeAch_iDSl1qwrfrt7LHvGcd00m7SmIEHFHG-pEW5mopP_hn27wwKl6JrKPrZpjkY568mB6MGknKJS8b1ygMUTaBnlCu8MIQ479ESePGLvuY0CcGG1yISgYQl-Q&__tn__=q&c%5B0%5D=AUAKBm0EDLtxlAjeKviydGoPyhXgddpfXSRCr7Vi7aWmzQH0qkxK3oUJgzFFJxJPKLGHkLHY9a7yfdnd3VW4M2ZwEPmT39aDWkC3y-qDkt2GklGIdvWRJmnCYzlTN4HURu-scsgZ-7r9bFVqkVITwUNEvKZOZ8Gk3As) Every Saturday at 11am we have Meetups for everyone and anyone who cares about animals and making the world a better place!
