Tue, Aug 11, 10:30 PM***PLEASE NOTE: due to weather, the date has changed for this event to TUESDAY, August 11.*** **This is another SPECIAL SUMMER EVENT for ESL Cafe:** * Join the hunt for beaver statues!!! * There is one statue for **each country in the FIFA World Cup**. * Find the statues. Scan with your phone. Get points. We are starting from **BERCZY PARK** (between Front St. and Wellington St., east of Yonge St., west of Church St.), near the fountain, at the Canada beaver statue. The nearest subway station is King Station. Meet and join other ESL learners for the hunt. Before coming, on your phone, download the Scavify app: [https://www.scavify.com/](https://www.scavify.com/). * Create an account with username and password. * Search for "the Great Beaver Hunt." * Join the hunt. Go to Tasks. Practice with some Q&A questions or Multi questions. * **Don't forget to charge your phone!** **At sunset at 8:30pm, post your score on the discussion board.** * Beginners should try to get 15 * Intermediate should try to get 30 * And Advanced should try to get all 53!!! **NOTE: This event is *OUTDOORS!* If there is rain, please check the Meetup message board for updates.**

You don't need a kayak or canoe. Whether you are paddling solo on a SUP , loading up a canoe, or kayaking keep your eyes peeled for beavers, blue herons and deer! Leave the city behind without ever leaving Toronto!

Join us for a **beautiful 10 km fall walk** (about 3 hours plus a break) as we make our way from **New Market GO Station to Aurora GO Station**. Along the way, we’ll pass through tree-filled areas, Fairy Lake, Wesley Brooks Conservation Area, scenic walking paths, and peaceful waterways. With colourful fall foliage all around, this will be one of the most stunning walks of the season! *** ## 🚆 How We’re Getting There: GO Train * **Cost:** $10 Weekend Day Pass → Buy here (Buy after **August 13th** – valid for 10 days. Do *not* activate until we all meet up. This is cheaper than Presto or senior fares. Join us for an incredible 12 km adventure that combines everything that makes Toronto special—beautiful parks, scenic waterfront trails, the Humber River, hidden nature, and, of course... ice cream! We'll begin in the heart of High Park before making our way through the park's winding trails and towering trees. From there we'll head down to the Sunnyside Boardwalk, enjoying stunning views of Lake Ontario as we stroll along the waterfront. After a relaxing shortt break, we'll continue north along the Humber River Trail before rewarding ourselves with a stop at the legendary **Tom's Dairy Freeze**, a Toronto institution that's been serving some of the city's favourite soft serve, burgers, and fries since 1969. This is a great way to boost your health, clear your mind, and meet other positive members in the community. Walking regularly can improve heart health, increase energy, reduce stress, and support overall wellness. Our walk is done at a **good steady pace** with a bit of a hill, making it a great workout while still being enjoyable. The route usually lasts **about 1.5 hours**, giving you time to move, chat, and start your day feeling accomplished. I also encourage everyone to get to know fellow members by chatting with different people throughout the walk. When we circle back to the parking lot, I often invite members to switch walking partners so everyone has the chance to connect and build new friendships.
