Bear Mountain Free hike!
Sun, Apr 26, 11:30 AMOnly rain can stop us! Dear Neverwinterers, this time we will hike through one of the most famous trails: Bear Mountain. We will cross the red, blue and white trails. Part of it goes through Appalachian and Popolopen Gorge trails. We will pass through Fort Clinton, Hessian lake, Stone cottages, Perkins Memorial tower and many other sights. If we have time we might visit the Trailside Museums & Zoo. We will have lunch at the top of the mountain. This is a loop walk! April 26 (Sunday) We will start at **07:30 AM at the center of Grand Central Terminal**. Look for a round information kiosk. You can get the tickets at Grand Central station or through the MTA app. Detailed plan: 07:30 AM - Meeting at center of Grand Central Terminal (look for a round information kiosk). **07:57 AM - Departure from Grand Central** to Manitou train station. 09:07 AM - Arriving at Manitou. 09:55 AM - Meeting rest of the group at the entrance to Bear Mountain Bridge. Metro-North train: Way to: Grand Central to Manitou train station (look for the 7:57 AM train). Way back: Manitou train station to Grand Central (look for the 4:29 PM train). By car: ask a group if someone is driving and can give you a ride. Total hiking distance about 13 miles (with 3 mph). Total elevation 1700ft. This is a recreational walk (not marathon). We are open to any age groups, but please consider your abilities to walk that long. We will have multiple stops via our hike. Please bring enough water and food for the whole day. Earth Day: Phone Photo Walk at the New York Botanical Garden

There is a 10:21am Train from Grand Central to the NYBG (22min train ride). Group meets at 11am by the ticket booth of the NYBG across the street from Metro North train Stop on 2950 Southern Blvd, Bronx NY. Bring your hat, snacks and water, wear supportive shoes and be prepared to walk some 4 to 5miles in search of the Magnolia and Cherry trees in bloom! Training walk for 'The Great Saunter'
Sun, Apr 26, 4:00 PMJoining us for the AMC 150 Team on the Great Saunter? Or just wishing you were? Either way, come out with us for long, brisk training walks! This urban walk of approximately 12 miles is inspired by 'The Great Saunter' hosted by the ShoreWalkers. It may serve as preparation for the event if you are joining this year! We will be meeting at the MetroNorth station at E. 125th in Manhattan and walking to The Battery. The route may be modified at the guide's discretion should it be necessary. Please be prepared to be outside in the Earth's elements for five hours and dress according for the activity and anticipated weather. Please bring water and food as well as any other items you need. Douglaston Phone Photo Walk Expedition to the Memorial Day Parade in Little Neck
Mon, May 25, 2:30 PMLet’s go to a Phone Photo Walk at Douglaston Peninsula: a gorgeous Historic District of Queens. Let’s wonder around the waterfront and see the largest collection of imported trees in New York City plus the architecture of the Mansions and their Gardens. The plan is also to visit a section of the Udall’s Cove Park Preserve: a dirt trail of a Forever Wild Area. Group meets at 10:30am by the Douglaston LIRR Station Plaza - Port Washington Line. We will pass Memorial Field Park where we can stop for snacks. Total distance aprox 2.5miles on rolling hills on pavement, grass and dirt trails. Wear supportive shoes, bring your hats, water and snacks. Plenty of breaks on the way to enjoy the views and take Photos. We will pass the Little Neck LIRR train Station and head to Northern Blvd to watch the Memorial Day Parade that starts at 2pm. Feel free to wear your Red, White and Blue and make this Day a memorable Outing. Fort Tyron Park: Heather Garden Tour with the Urban Park Rangers on Mother’s Day

The largest Public Garden with unrestricted access in NYC. It is an Urban Oasis with over 500 varieties of Plants and gorgeous views to the Hudson River. Group meets at 10:30am at Margaret Corbin Circle - 190th St close to the A train Stop. The tour starts at 11am and goes till 12:30pm. The plan is to explore the Park after that till 2pm. Bring snacks, water, hats and sun glasses, wear supportive shoes to walk on grass, dirt trails and pavement. We are going to do some phone photography too! Total distance should be 2 miles.
