Atheists Volunteer FOOD DISTRIBUTION! Come help and give out food!

Atheists Volunteer FOOD DISTRIBUTION! Come help and give out food!

Fri, May 15, 7:00 PM
From Atheists Volunteer - Greater Los Angeles
4.9

[Atheists United](www.atheistsunited.org), California's largest grassroots atheist nonprofit, is fighting the emergency food crisis with our partners [Sunday Assembly Los Angeles](www.sundayassemblyla.com) by hosting a food distribution in Los Angeles outside our offices. We've partnered with the LA Food Bank and give out over 3,000lbs of food each event. **We need volunteers to help us assemble and organize food packages from 12pm - 5pm every third Friday.** From 3:30pm - 5pm volunteers will help hand food out directly to those in need in the neighborhood. From 5pm - 6pm we'll clean up and celebrate everything we accomplished together. Music and snacks will make it well worth your time. If you'd like to be a super volunteer, contact us about showing up at 10am to help with setup! **[If you're able to make a donation to our Food Distribution program please text the code "AUFOOD" to 44-321, or click here](https://secure.givelively.org/donate/atheists-united/support-atheists-united-s-food-distributions). All donations go to helping us feed our community or expand our impact.** **\*\*Food:** Snacks will be provided free for volunteers. We also hope you join us for dinner at a local restaurant after the event. **\*\*Safety:** COVID-19 is extremely dangerous and we prioritize the safety of our volunteers and food recipients. You must be vaccinated to volunteer. If you are not vaccinated you will be asked to leave immediately. **\*\*Parking:** Free parking for volunteers in our parking lot off Rampart Blvd behind the building. **\*\*Dress Code:** Safety requirements include: no open-toe/open-heel shoes or high heels. We recommend casual attire (jeans, t-shirt, light sweater, & tennis shoes). Please dress for the weather and wear sunscreen as needed. Any questions, please contact Marit at marit.ingebretsen@atheistsunited.org or Evan at evan@atheistsunited.org **Few things bring more joy than helping others.** Join us!

Discussion and mutual support regarding divorce and separation.

Discussion and mutual support regarding divorce and separation.

Thu, May 21, 2:00 AM
From Marina del Rey Divorce, Separation & Mediation Support Group
4.6

Going through a divorce is most often a very challenging process - financially, emotionally, physically and spiritually. Your way of life may change dramatically as you are faced with legal and relationship conflicts, endless discussions, heated arguments, complicated negotiations, and a myriad of choices and decisions to make. Communication between you and your spouse, often difficult under any circumstances, may become excruciatingly painful as you argue about the custody and care of your children, how much time you'll each have with them, and who is going to pay for what. While you're in the divorcing process it is hard to be vulnerable and attempt to heal and complete the past. You are angry, your spouse is angry and fighting comes all too easy. And yet, just as you must resolve your legal issues, healing and completing is exactly what can and should take place. At this time it is important to have a positive support network - good friends, family and professionals who will listen patiently and give sound advice sparingly. You do not need someone egging you on with unrealistic expectations and hurtful strategies of punishment and revenge. The Marina del Rey Divorce, Separation and Mediation Group is a resource for support as you go through this challenging life transition. The group is facilitated by Dennis A. Cohen an attorney and mediator. Using a combination of education, exercises, group encouragement and sharing, participants receive support in coping with the divorce process, learning about the law, improving communication skills, and getting the perspective of others who are also going, through the challenging process of ending a marriage. Come join us.

[This is not an event, just a notice. You'll have to sign up & go on your own.] Did you know we almost had a nuclear reactor meltdown not 30 miles from downtown L.A.? This was at the Santa Susana Field Laboratory, which is now a Superfund site owned by Boeing. On May 9 they're conducting a nature tour. It's not much of a hike but it might be of interest. I already did it and I can probably skip a repeat, but you might be interested. Here's my write up from last year's event, I'd imagine this is much the same: https://goalhiking.org/g/santa-susana-field-lab To go, they want you to RSVP by **Monday, May 4**: [https://SantaSusanaWalk.eventbrite.com](https://SantaSusanaWalk.eventbrite.com).

Release Trauma\. \> Sunday\, May 17 \| 5:00–8:00 PM PST **Community Harmony Acupuncture Clinic** is a recurring gathering, offering trauma-aware, heart-centered care rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine. While **our focus is mental and emotional well-being**, many people also experience relief from physical pain, tension, headaches, digestive imbalance, and stress-related symptoms. This *group-style experience* includes **individualized acupuncture, along with sound healing, guided meditation, and aromatherapy to support deep nervous system reset** in a peaceful shared space. Our main provider is **Winnie Chan Wang**, joined by additional community practitioners offering healing support. This clinic is **free and donation-based**, with a suggested $20 contribution to help sustain the program and keep care accessible to all. It’s gentle. It’s grounding. It’s surprisingly relaxing. Many first-timers say, “I didn’t know acupuncture could feel like this.” Come try it. Come receive.
