Grove Park to Petts Wood
Dear all, this is an interesting walk with plenty to see, and well worth doing.
We will meet at 10.45 am at Grove Park Station, and then walk from there to the Ringway Centre as image above.
{You can get to Grove Park Station by train from Cannon Street, Charing Cross, London Bridge and Waterloo East.}
My friend is making a dairy and gluten free cake and with a hot drink will charge only £3.
After our hot drink and cake we will make our way to Chinbrook Meadows, then through woodland in Elmstead Woods.
Our walk will then take us past 2 railway stations, Elmstead Woods, then Chislehurst, along more woodland and river trails and across three railway bridges until we reach Petts Wood, where our walk will end. Walking distance 6 miles.
Lunch will be at The Sovereign of The Seas, a Wetherspoons pub, or you can bring our own.
From Petts Wood Station you can get trains to Charing Cross,Waterloo East, London Bridge & Victoria stations.
Please note: £7 Meetup fee required - please have the right change.
In view of some upward slopes and the many steps at the railway bridges, if you have a knee problem or walk slowly, this walk may not be for you.
If you need any more information, please ring or text Paul on 07530 675739 ā note, this is not a smart phone.

Nordic Walking in Docklands
**PLEASE READ: Advanced booking is required via our website [https://www.silverfit.org.uk/nordic-walking-sessions](https://www.silverfit.org.uk/nordic-walking-sessions)/ we do not use Meet Up as a means for sign up. Please DO NOT just turn up to this session.**
Activity: Nordic Walking at Docklands
Where and when: Mondays 10am, Meet at Bellucci Cafe inside Decathlon - Canada Water (https://www.thelodge.cafe/[https://www.thelodge.cafe/](https://www.thelodge.cafe/))
Price: £3 when booking on TicketTailor
Benefits of Nordic Walking:
The fitness and health benefits of Nordic Walking are significantly greater than regular walking, trekking or even jogging, with scientific research from Europe and the USA proving that Nordic Walking:
Activates 90% of the body's muscles
Burns up to 46% more calories than regular walking
Increases aerobic effect by up to 25% compared to regular walking
Decreases load and strain on the lower body
Tones upper arms, shoulders and back muscles
Improves lateral mobility of the spine
Develops core stability and strength
Promotes an upright posture
These benefits are achieved through the use of specially designed poles and a properly learned and performed Nordic Walking technique, whereby the poles are used as a resistance tool to engage the upper body. The result is a low impact, high results, total body exercise.
As a low impact walking exercise, Nordic Walking is something that can be done and enjoyed individually or as a group activity, anywhere a person can normally walk.

Balcombe circular walk approx 16 miles - Hilly
Join us for a rewarding 16-mile circular walk starting from the charming village of Balcombe, taking in some of the most scenic and iconic landscapes in the area. This route is perfect for those who enjoy a bit of a challenge, with plenty of hills to keep things interesting and elevate the views.
Weāll begin by heading towards the impressive Balcombe Viaduct, an architectural highlight that stretches gracefully across the valleyāan ideal early photo stop. From there, the route winds through rolling countryside, quiet woodland paths, and open fields as we make our way toward Ardingly Reservoir. Here, weāll take time to enjoy the peaceful waterside setting, with plenty of opportunities to pause, refuel, and take in the views.
Continuing on, weāll pass sections of the historic Bluebell Railway, where, if weāre lucky, we may catch a glimpse of a vintage steam train in actionāa real treat that adds a touch of nostalgia to the day.
Expect a mix of terrain including woodland trails, country lanes, and uneven paths, with several steady climbs throughout. A good level of fitness is recommended, as the distance and hills make this a moderately challenging walk.
Bring plenty of water, snacks or a packed lunch, and sturdy footwear. In spring, parts of the route may be lined with bluebells, adding even more charm to an already beautiful walk.
A fantastic day out for keen walkers looking to explore the Sussex countryside, enjoy great
ompany, and take in some memorable sights along the way.
This is a hilly walk and so is not suitable for beginner hikers.
Outward Travel: Take the train departing 09.08 AM from London Bridge to Balcombe arr 10:02 Buy a day return ticket to Balcombe. The cost is £10.05 with a groupsave or network rail card.

IMPORTANT
Please bear in mind this is a free of charge, self-guided trip with a hobby group. It is not organized by a business nor any entity with commercial purposes.
Any trip details, travel advice, route planning, instructions and other content in our group merely represent our shared personal knowledge, research and suggestions as outdoor enthusiasts. As this is no business, there is no "product", "service" or "package" and also no "tour guide", "operator" or "walk leader".
Each participant is responsible for their own safety. Even if some of us are very experienced walking outdoors, nobody assumes responsibility for any kind of injury, damage or loss that may happen.
Despite this, we take extreme precautions and all trips we plan are very safe, fun, highly educational and popular. Our experienced members volunteer their time and effort to shape a pleasant and quality adventure for everyone :-)
By participating you acknowledge and agree with this disclaimer.
Here are our tips on staying safe during outdoor trips:
[http://www.meetup.com/Free-Outdoor-Trips-From-London/about/](http://www.meetup.com/Free-Outdoor-Trips-From-London/about/)
TRAVEL, ACCOMMODATION, INSURANCE
Although we provide detailed suggestions, each participant is expected to arrange their own travel - this gives everyone the freedom and choice. Anyone interested in travel or outdoor insurance should also arrange this on their own. As mentioned above we always take extreme precautions, but some people may still feel safer if covered.
As most of our trips are confirmed or postponed very close to the event date - heavily depending on the weather forecasts - we advise not to buy this until the last minute. People getting tickets from the same station are encouraged to meet early on the day to benefit from discounts such as GroupSave.
Any questions, feel free to ask below or send a private message!
Petersfield to Liphook - Hampshire's delights
**SUMMARY (all info is approximate!)**
**Distance**: 21km (13 miles)
**Duration**: 6-7 hours walking
**Grade**: Moderate
**HIGHLIGHTS**
* great views from Shoulder of Mutton Hill
* forests coming into bloom
* bluebells, spring flowers
* forlorn paths
* weird and wonderful moreland on Longmore Common
* Sussex Border Path & budding rhododendrons,
* country pubs for refreshments.
We'll start our walk in Petersfield and head north to follow part of the 34 km (21 mile) Hangers Way - a long distance path less travelled within an area of outstanding natural beauty.
The countryside around here is unspoilt and forlorn, and we'll meet only a few locals out for a walk with their dogs. In our first hour, we will be rewarded with fantastic views from Shoulder of Mutton Hill as we continue through forested slopes and over open fields towards Liss and then onto Liphook via a nice lunchtime pub stop (for drinks only).
After Liss, we will walk down Shipwrights Way to Longmore and Weavers Down, an army managed access land which is eerily remote and wild with a range of different flora, shrubs and trees. We will then walk on the Sussex Border Path and continue to Liphook, where we will reward ourselves with a pub stop.
This will be English countryside in its quintessential beauty and at its best ā with budding wild flowers and maybe some wild rhododendrons - as well experiencing Longmore Common which feels like walking over Scottish moreland.

Please join local travel enthusiasts to share travel experiences and swap tips and ideas for future travel. This is our third meeting. It's been a while and we've all been busy, so let's regroup!
Expect a non-structured, casual hang with some interesting people. I aim for this to be a welcoming environment and my only real goal is for everyone to make a new friend. You don't have to be a raging extrovert to participate. All are welcome.
About the Group:
This group is for anyone who loves swapping stories about far-off places, planning future adventures, and trading travel tips. Whether you've been around the world or you're just starting to explore, you're welcome here!
We meet at local breweries for laid-back conversations about all things travel ā past trips, upcoming journeys, bucket lists, favorite hidden gems, and insider advice. It's a friendly, casual space to connect with fellow adventurers, get inspired, and maybe even find your next travel buddy.
No tickets required ā just curiosity, good vibes, and a love for discovery.

Some trips are wide open.
Some are already locked in.
Weddings.
Funerals.
Cruises.
Family reunions.
You get the idea.
The mistake is thinking the opportunity is gone.
Itās not.
In this special session, JGOOT travel experts Julie and Mira break down what actually happens after a trip is already plannedāand how the JGOOT skillset still applies.
Because the truth is:
With the right tools, skills, and mindset⦠any trip can be a JGOOT trip.
Itās time for:
**Trapped By Travel Plans: How to Turn a āStuckā Trip Into a JGOOT Success Story.**
Julie and Mira will walk through how they think about fixed trips, where the hidden opportunities still exist, and how to make smarter moves even when everything feels set.
Inside this session, youāll learn:
⢠How to approach a fully planned trip without starting over
⢠Where to still find value when your dates and destination are locked
⢠How to use points, cash, and perks after your main plans are set
⢠How to shift from āIām stuckā to āI still have leverageā
This isnāt about perfect timing.
Itās not about catching the lowest price.
Itās about understanding that the JGOOT skillset doesnāt turn off once you plan.
It keeps working.
And when you know how to use it, even a ālocked-inā trip can become a win
