RSVPs are required. The reason is that it should increase your own enjoyment. You see, the ideal number of players for a pickup soccer game is perhaps 6x6 - 8x8; some players won't attend if they think the turnout will be low, and others will just assume the game will be cancelled even though we always play. (As a practical matter, smaller games are less fun since the comics won't have the audience they need, but, they do have two hidden benefits: shorter, more intense games/workouts and fewer face kicks/yellow cards. So we play no matter how small or large.) So non-RSVPers are a little short sighted, since they don't seem to want to maximize their own enjoyment in the long run. Rational and sane players who have a good chance of attending RSVP a week early both here and at https://meetup.com/dcsoccer , the parent soccer group.

Saturday at the MLK library DC & Portrait Gallery
Come Craft with us at either the MLK Library or the Kogod atrium of the Portrait Gallery. There are generally knitters/crocheters/needle workers in both places. Our success has made us a fairly large group so we are meeting in both places on Saturdays. Don't let the lack of RSVPs stop you, they aren't required, nor is membership to our group. Bring your project and join a boisterous group of crafters in first floor of either building.
Saturday Early Morning Game
RULES of the GAME :
1- **FRIENDLY GAME**. No slide tackling, rough play, or coaching.
2- It is highly recommended to wear **TURF SHOES**. However, if you choose to wear cleat and you step on someone foot, you have to leave the game for **5 MINS OUT** and the time would increases if you do it again during the same game.
3- In case of disagreement during the game, the **host acts as a referee** so the game stays smooth and enjoyable to everyone.
**Please do not show up unless you're confirmed** and your name shows in the going list. You might not play if you show up anyway.
**If you can not make it , cancel ahead of time** (prior to 10 pm the night before), otherwise, you will not be prioritized for the future games.
No-shows without cancellation would make you lose your spot the next game.
If your name is on the wait list, I would assume you are still interested to join, if not remove your name from the wait list.
**Every player should sub for a goalie and offer to play defense.**
Please use a clear profile picture so it is easier for me to recognize you. if you don't have a clear picture, the host might cancel your rsvp.
If you plan on playing with us regularly , keep in mind we collect yearly donations of $25. For donations you can zelle me (3189143325) or Venmo(@Aladdin-Alayoubi)

Sunday Skate with The Washington Area Roadskaters - Anacostia Riverwalk Trail!
Join us as The Washington Area Roadskaters lead you on a different adventure every week, skating through and around our Nation's Capital!
Freedom Plaza is currently closed for construction, so we are shifting the starting line. We will meet at the corner of E St and 14th Street NW, right outside the WWI Pershing Memorial, across from the Willard Hotel. If that area is covered with snow, skate down 14th street one block and meet in front of the Wilson Building (south of Freedom Plaza, across Pennsylvania Ave.
This Sunday Ian will lead us on a great intermediate 11+ miles skate!
We take Pennsylvania Ave to the Capitol then work around to the East side of the Capitol. Then, we head towards the RFK Grounds. We take the Capitol St Bridge across the river. Then, we take the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail until the Frederick Douglass Bridge (with a possible stop at the skate pavilion). After the bridge, we'll pass Nats Stadium and Audi Field, and cut to 4th St until Independence Ave. Finally, we'll take the 12th St tunnel and follow Penn Ave back to where we started.

Insight Meditation of Northern Virginia
Whether you're new to Insight meditation or an advanced practitioner looking for like-minded people to sit with, you're welcome to join us at our Sunday morning drop-in group, sponsored by the Insight Meditation Community of Washington. Insight meditation cultivates our natural wisdom and compassion. Meditation practice develops concentration, which allows us to calm and steady the mind.
This class includes a 30-minute lightly-guided meditation, followed by a short talk and time for questions and discussion. The size of the group usually runs somewhere between 25-40 people in-person and between 12-25 online. Chairs are provided, or you may bring a sitting cushion or bench. You may also use the blankets and bolsters offered by the yoga studio.
**We offer both in-person and online attendance.**

House Rules -
1. Starting Play: Each point begins with both teams lining up on the front of opposite end zone lines. The defense throws ("pulls") the disc to the offense.
2. Scoring: Each time the offense catches a pass in the defense's end zone, the offense scores a point. The teams switch direction after every goal, and the next point begins with a new pull by the team that just scored.
3. Movement of the Disc: The disc may be advanced in any direction by completing a pass to a teammate. Players may not run with the disc. The person with the disc ("thrower") has ten seconds to throw the disc. The defender guarding the thrower ("marker") counts out the stall count.
4. Change of Possession: When a pass is not completed (e.g. out of bounds, drop, block, interception, stalled), the defense immediately takes possession of the disc and becomes the offense.
5. Substitutions: Players not in the game may replace players in the game after a score and during an injury timeout. (Modified depending on the number of the attendees)
6. Non-contact: Players must attempt to avoid physical contact during play. Picks and screens are also prohibited.
7. Fouls: When a player initiates contact that affects the play, a foul occurs. When a foul causes a player to lose possession, the play resumes as if the possession was retained. If the player that the foul was called against disagrees with the foul call, the play is redone.
8. Self-Officiating: Players are responsible for their own foul and line calls. The host will also step in if it is needed.
Please message the event host for any questions or concerns.

**Beyond the Bare Bones: What Human Evolution Means to You**
The study of human evolution isn't merely an academic exercise in looking backward. It tells us who we are and the kinds of things we do. Hence, it can inform us about our impact on the environment and our future as a species. This presentation will be illustrated with revealing images from the Smithsonian's Hall of Human Origins.
Our speaker, Fred Edwords served eleven years as the founding editor of the American Humanist Association’s *Creation/Evolution* journal, refuting creationism in print and on the debate platform. He also served fifteen years as the American Humanist Association's executive director and twelve years as editor of the *Humanist* magazine.
This is an in-person meeting only. We serve coffee starting at 10:45. Come then and chat!
