Dormansland circular - 6.2 miles, moderate
Dormansland circular - 6.2 miles, moderate
Join us for a varied walk just over the Surrey border. Expect planes, trains, golf balls, horse-race-course, and house envy at Dormans Park (home at one point to Tom Cruise, Adele, and the inventor of the teletubbies). We start off in the village of Dormansland, for a part urban (of varying degrees of poshness), part woodland, part golf course, part scenic route by the trainline round walk. A mixture of mostly quiet roads and good paths, though expect some muddy stretches after heavy or prolonged rain. Hills are gradual / low gradient. Unfortunately there are no toilet or refreshment stops mid walk, though refreshments would be available at the shop at the start. There is also the possibility of a pub stop at the end in Dormansland. Subject to walk leaders approval we allow well-behaved dogs under full control of their owner. If you wish to bring your dog on the walk, please check with the walk leader before arriving for the walk. Please note that **there is a £2 payment required for non-Ramblers members** to help cover our Meetup costs. **Please help the walk leader by bringing the exact change.** Members of the Ramblers Association are welcome on any of our walks, but we would still encourage you to RSVP on Meetup. This will give our volunteer walk leaders an idea of how many are attending, and also to keep the numbers manageable. If, on the day of the walk, you are still on the waiting list and a Ramblers member, you can attend just let the walk leader know you are coming by adding a comment 'Coming as a Rambler'. You will find the start location via our website Our Walks ([westkentwalkinggroup.org.uk](http://westkentwalkinggroup.org.uk/)).

This walk is suitable for the average experienced hill walker. Expect some hills. Do not attend this walk if you do not fit that description or if you have a medical condition (especially heart and/or lung conditions) that may impact upon your capability of completing the walk. These walks are city walks and countryside walks where all the usual risks of injury during such walks apply resulting from interactions with road traffic, joggers, cyclists, e-scooters,other members of the public, animals (farm, domestic and wild), plants (allergic reactions), uneven surfaces, including portruding tree roots and potholes and there may be low overhanging branches. In these walks we cross busy roads, use towpaths alongside water, bridlepaths, country lanes and sometimes ill defined paths and tracks through woodland, bush and countryside. No fluff, no vendor pitches — just people who take the work seriously, sharing what they've learned the hard way. *** ## **Talk:** Dimming the Lights **Abstract:** Lessons from the front lines of transforming our enterprise SDLC into a dark factory. We'll talk about quick wins, surprising sticking points, the unsolved problems of orchestration and validation, and controlled experiments and challenges that you can try with your team. ## **🎤 Speaker:** Macey Baker, Community Engineer at @Tessl **Bio:** As Tessl's Founding Community Engineer, Macey Baker is busy helping to build the future of AI-native development (and helping you build it too). Some of her best friends are LLMs. *** ## Talk: Secrets in Plain Sight **Abstract**: Your AI assistant needs to understand your code, but your model provider doesn't need to know your credentials. We'll explore a novel guardrail architecture that lets models reason about sensitive data they never actually see — preserving full performance without the leak. We'll cover the design philosophy, the tradeoffs, and why context-aware approaches outperform blanket redaction. ## **🎤** Speaker: Daniel Trugman, Co-founder and CTO at Requesty Requesty is building a novel AI Gateway that provides a complete control plane for any AI use case. The team at Requesty is building innovative solutions that solve the problems of tomorrow for AI trailblazers.

London Society WALK - Archway to Hampstead 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
London Society WALK - Archway to Hampstead 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Have you ever wanted to be immersed within either the city or nature in the form of a walk and socialise at the same time? If so, this may be the right walk for you. Welcome to another one of the WALK events where you have the opportunity to explore all the scenic routes I’ll execute whether there’s nature within, whether we get immersed within the city and feel great about yourself.

With this particular walk, we will be walking through Hampstead Heath. We begin at Archway and we’ll walk to Parliament hill to see the skyline and the setting sun if possible. We’ll then continue to Hampstead which is the final stop. After this walk, we will be heading to ‘The Flask’ Pub if you wish. This particular pub is not only a traditional English one but it offers that Victorian charm which will take us back in time. The elements we’ll see overall are character, charm and history. My fellow explorers, if you enjoyed the event, I’m more than happy to accept any donations which of course are optional but will go a long way to help me unlock and deliver even more exciting and engaging events and resources: https://www.paypal.me/calvinjoy

Starting point: Archway
Ending point: Hampstead
Walking length: 2.3 miles
Duration: 1 hour +
Required clothing: Smart casual, comfortable shoes and a jacket in case it gets cold
Departure: 20 minutes after the meeting time.

WHAT - Walk from Archway to Hampstead
WHERE - Hampstead Heath
WHEN - 7:15pm - 11pm
MEETING POINT - Outside Archway Station
NEAREST STATION - Archway Station
REQUIREMENTS - Just your good behaviour is all and whatever is listed above for the walk. If you’re coming to the Pub, please bring your ID just incase. Disclaimers: Please be on your best behaviour and respect one another. This group doesn’t tolerate any misbehaviour and misconduct. Should such a thing take place, you will be removed. If you ask a question that either already has the answer to it or doesn’t relate to the event at all, I won’t respond. Whenever an event takes place, I will cut off contact 20 minutes after the event commences. If you message even 1 minute after the cut off time, I won’t be available as I’m conducting the event. There will be photography and videography by myself so if you are photo conscious and/or do not want to be in the video, do kindly inform me and I’ll try my utmost best to not involve you in the picture. Let’s all be responsible but please be aware you come at your own risk. Do be mindful of your possessions, belongings and most importantly, your safety. The ‘London society of explorers’ accept no risk of liability at this event.

Lez Hike! Seven Sisters - Seaford to Eastbourne
Lez Hike! Seven Sisters - Seaford to Eastbourne
*Time to hit the South Coast again 😎* The plan: Meeting at 9am sharp on Saturday 27th June at London Victoria to catch the 9:24am train to Seaford. Arrive at Seaford station at 10:48am, set off to climb the Seven Sisters cliffs and take in the beautiful views! When we arrive at Eastbourne, the plan is to have a few drinks at spoons (just opposite the station) and then be on our way back to London. We don't want to be leaving any later than 8pm. Best suggestion is to book a flexible ticket from Eastbourne to London. **IMPORTANT, PLEASE NOTE:** Kate and Paty are not professional hike leaders, we obviously won't be ditching anyone, but please keep this in mind! 😂 **The Seven Sisters cliffs are stunning but also potentially dangerous as the chalk cliffs are constantly eroding and can collapse without warning.** **For your safety, remain 5 metres back from the edge of the cliffs.** There is the option to book your tickets individually or as a group to get a discount. Whatever you prefer, please organise the train tickets for yourselves based on what works for you. It will be a single ticket from London to Seaford, and then a single ticket from Eastbourne to London. **Recommended tickets:** Single from London Victoria - Seaford Time: 09:24 - arrive at 10:48. Cost £13 but may change. Single from Eastbourne - London Victoria: Time: 19:33 - arrive at 21:06. Cost £26.40 but may change. **FOOD** Bring a packed lunch, but we will visit the spoons pub in Eastbourne after the hike for drinks. **DISTANCE & DIFFICULTY** Distance: 14 miles (22km) Grading: Intermediate/Challenging Ascent: 580m Hiking time: 5.5 to 6.5 hours **WHAT TO BRING** • Hiking clothes & footwear - ideally hiking boots. Hat & gloves if cold, waterproof jacket. Sensible clothing basically. • Sunscreen • Water (2 litres) • Lunch • Optional: dogs can come along! Please only bring if you feel confident of your dog's capability and safety, this will be a long day and we cannot take responsibility for any pets. **TOILETS** • We highly recommend to use the station toilets before we set off, there are limited toilets along the way and often very busy as it's a popular hike! This link has more information on the Seaford to Eastbourne route: [https://www.alltrails.com/en-gb/trail/england/east-sussex/seaford-to-eastbourne](https://www.alltrails.com/en-gb/trail/england/east-sussex/seaford-to-eastbourne?sh=p8znlp&utm_medium=trail_share&utm_source=alltrails_virality)

Only wear good sturdy shoes, with ankle support, and carry a bottle of water and necessary medication. You need to be moderately fit for this walk and able to walk for at least 8 miles. **In these walks we cross busy roads, and it is obligatory that each attendee will only cross all roads at designated pedestrian crossing points at all times.** We use towpaths alongside water, bridlepaths, country lanes and sometimes ill defined paths and tracks through woodland, bush and countryside. Some tracks may be muddy and slippery, and conditions may be wet and icy. The host and walk leader is not and does not purport to be a professional guide, or a medical professional, but is instead a like minded individual who also enjoys hill walking and who is familiar with the intended route. Do not attend this walk unless you accept and consent to the above risks. If you require insurance for these walks then you must arrange this yourself. No large dogs or small children please. Please arrive in good time to allow opportunity to use toilets at the start of the walk as there may not be any toilet breaks available during the walk. WANT TO COME ON ANOTHER WALK?
