Workshop Class to Literally Tell a Story

Join us to learn how to tell a great story in any format with writer and filmmaker David Feather! Over the course of this lab, we’ll learn the parts of a story using popular media, touch on some common storytelling techniques from cultures around the world, write a story together, and workshop participant ideas. This session is built for new adults, young adults, teens, and tweens; join us if you can meaningfully participate! Registration is required for this session. Know Your Banking Rights

Learn about your rights and responsibilities when it comes to managing and protecting your money. This workshop will cover basic banking account options, how to search for unclaimed assets, strategies for preventing fraud and steps you can take to protect and ensure access to your funds in the event of financial emergencies. Participants will also learn about local resources for financial coaching, planning and building confidence with banking and money management. About the Presenter: Erick Tenorio is the Bay Area Regional Manager with Self Help Federal Credit Union and Executive Director of RAICES, a financial capability organization based out of San Francisco. Erick brings more than 25 years in the financial services industry and in the financial capability field, working closely with youth serving and community-based organizations throughout the Bay Area. Erick's workshops center on bringing awareness and resources to address the financial inequities impacting the economic wellness and mobility for many in our communities. Erick is a San Francisco native and a student at San Francisco State University pursuing a degree in Sociology. **This program takes place in the Latino/Hispanic Community Room, Lower Level of the Main Library.**

A unique opportunity to shoot dancers in a place unlike any dance or photo studio, we welcome our collaborators at The Hall, the newest swankiest Billiards Hall in San Francisco! This classy space has a mixture of natural light via large skylights, moody lighting near the bar, and fresh pool tables galore. StopScamsSF Listen and Learn Workshop

StopScamsSF is the nation's first city-led program dedicated to protecting residents from financial scams. Led by the Treasurer's Office's Economic Justice Center, the initiative is hosting Listen and Learn Sessions to educate the community on the most common scams and tactics scammers use to target residents. During these sessions, participants will have the chance to share their own experiences and feedback — input that helps shape how the city responds to and addresses scams going forward. **Presenter bio:** Mandy Ngu, Community Engagement Specialist. Mandy serves as the Community Engagement Specialist for the Office of Financial Empowerment. She previously worked in the Mayor's Office, where she partnered with community leaders and nonprofit organizations to host cultural celebrations and strengthen connections between local government and San Francisco's diverse communities. She later joined the Department of Public Health's communications team, supporting leadership messaging, media events, and internal communications. Mandy earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from San José State University. Woodworking Workshop

-please read the whole updated description!- Come to work on your own projects and get some feedback from your fellow woodchucks. We have a planer, drill presses, hand tools, a table saw, and much more! ###################### **starting June 8 we will be taking a break from the intensive power tool trainings provided in previous sessions.** For the next few weeks we want to use wood night as a time for actively working on projects and designing ideas for your projects. Happy to help with some guided use of the tools, but for now no full training will be offered. If you are new to the woodshop you are still welcome to join, just know that we will not provide a full training on the tools. If you have significant experience using a Tablesaw, mitre saw, planer etc then this should not be an issue. We do have some scrap wood available, but bringing some wood for your project, especially if it is larger or more crafty, is highly encouraged. We recommend getting your wood at Lowe’s (cheaper) Discount builders supply (closer to NB) or Beronio (higher quality and carry lots of hardwoods). Please feel free to ask questions on the discord if you are unsure about what to get for your project.

Online Spanish Bilingual SF Toastmasters Weekly Meeting

During the Shelter in Place, we will be celebrating meetings through Zoom. You can submit your request to attend here or on our website. Join us every Thursday for this unique Toastmasters meeting in two languages! Every meeting is two meetings in one: an English segment, followed by a Spanish segment. Each segment is approximately 30-45 minutes, or 90 minutes total, adjourning promptly at 8:00pm.
