lunch celebration (last event hosted by William)
Hi friends,
Thank you all for joining our discussion events over the past two years. It's very fun and rewarding for the community.
Sadly, I've decided to step down as the group organizer by the end of June due to other commitments, so this celebration lunch will be the last event I organize for this group.
I will still be around, but I just won't be able to organize any events in the future. Also, if you are interested in taking over as the organizer for this group, please reach out to me. Thanks.
Volleyball Time *Postponed due to weather*
Ladies, come soak up some Vitamin D and enjoy an evening of volleyball, movement, and great company! Whether you're a seasoned player or just looking to have fun, this is a welcoming space to get active, share some laughs, and enjoy the outdoors together.
We'll be playing volleyball on the sand, bringing a little beach vibe right here to Washington, DC. Not into volleyball? You're still welcome to join us! We'll also have casual games like Jenga, UNO, and other yard games, making it easy to relax, connect, and have fun with other women.
Bring your sunscreen, a camping chair, water, and your positive energy. Come ready for friendly competition, good conversation, and a great time in the sun!
Sunday Dinner: Pre 4th of July
We’re continuing our new monthly series: **Sunday Dinners!** I’ve always experienced Sunday dinner as a time to connect, catch up, share a few laughs, offer support, and recharge before the week ahead—and I’d love to create that same sense of community with you.
This month’s theme is a Pre–4th of July Barbecue Celebration! Join us at Rocklands Barbeque and Grilling Company as we kick back, enjoy great food, and celebrate the holiday spirit together. Whether you choose a platter to share or your favorite entrée, there will be plenty of opportunities to relax, mingle, and enjoy good company.
To get into the festive spirit, wear something red, white, or blue. Feel free to bring a friend and introduce them to the group!
Please note that each guest is responsible for purchasing their own meal.
Come hungry, bring your holiday spirit, and join us for an afternoon of food, fun, and connection!
Walking Group for All Ages
Craving community? Just want to take a walk in nature with others? Want some time in nature?
Join folks from Church of the Covenant, a Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) church, for a casual walk in nature on the 4th Sunday of each month. We're channeling calmness, community, and connection in hopes that we'll leave the walk feeling refreshed, renewed, and recharged.
We call this our "Early Bird Fellowship." We'll meet at the playground at Potomac Overlook Regional Park then take a 30min stroll. All are welcome --- pets, kids, all ages

\*\* This is a no pressure gathering for folks who want intentional community.
Cafe Meetup at Haraz Coffee House
Let's meet for coffee, tea, and pastries at Haraz Coffee House in Fairfax! This is a casual gathering for Afghan women in the DMV who would like to connect, make new friends, and enjoy a relaxing morning together.
Our Future, In Common
Come to MLK Library for a free, family-friendly afternoon of conversation, celebration, and really good food. We're inviting the whole area to join us in celebrating ourselves, our neighbors, and the things that make DC special.
There will be games, giveaways, and a chance to make new connections at every level.
Bring your hopes and dreams for the future of our city, and an open mind to learn from your neighbors.
We hope to see you there.

International Contest Send-Off
**What is a send-off?**
Before we head to St. Louis for the Barbershop Harmony Society International Convention, The Alliance opens its doors to the community for a **free** preview of our competition set.
This gives us the opportunity to perform in front of an audience before we take the international stage.
We would love to see you there!
CMG Gives Back: Serve Dinner at FAITH MISSION GRANT KITCHEN!
Join us as we get together to get together to help those in need at this CMG Gives Back event! We have a great little community of Movie Group friends so rather than see a movie this time, we’ll help “Create a better world” by helping serve those in need. NOTE: We’re switching it up this time and going with a DINNER shift on Mon, 7/6. Here are complete details and our plan for this event:
FAITH MISSION – GRANT KITCHEN: The Faith Mission kitchen and dining room serves residents 3 meals a day, every day of the year. For this event, our group will help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents in the dining room, wash dishes, and clean surfaces.
PLAN: We will be preparing / serving / cleaning for DINNER from 4:30 to 6:30pm and have space for a total of 7 volunteers. Please arrive at 4:20pm and wear closed-toe shoes and long pants.
LOCATION: Faith Mission – Grant Kitchen is located at 245 N. Grant Ave. Enter the kitchen at Dock 1 (in the back of the building), indicated in the attached map. On-site parking in the adjacent lot and street parking are available in the surrounding area. Below are some links / attachments with additional info/details:
IMPORTANT REMINDER: Our group will be providing all of the volunteers on this day so a firm RSVP count is essential. Please only sign up if you are certain you’ll be able to attend. If something unavoidable comes up, please try to update your RSVP no later than one week prior to the event. With few exceptions, no shows or cancelations within 1 week of the event will not be eligible for future CMG Gives Back events. I appreciate your understanding as we try to ensure the agencies have the volunteers needed to provide the essential services they provide to the vulnerable population they serve. Our Partner Agency for this event is Lutheran Social Services! A huge THANK YOU to those volunteering at this (or any of our previous or future) CMG Gives Back events!
Look forward to seeing you there, Dan
